Farmbox Greens

Farmbox Greens Farmbox Greens is an urban, hydroponic, vertical farm specializing in microgreens and culinary herbs.

At Farmbox Greens we approach agriculture in an innovative way. Our farm is vertical meaning it is grown in stacked square feet, not acres. Because we believe in fresh, flavorful produce we have created a sustainable farm where the harvest cycle is days not months. Whether you buy our greens in a restaurant or from a store or farmer’s market, chances are your Farmbox Greens were harvested only hou

rs before arriving on your plate. We love getting fan photos, recipes, comments and questions, so don’t hesitate to reach out. Thanks for visiting our page.

Know Your Farmer 👩🏻‍🌾 A series of posts that helps you to get to know the farmers at Farmbox!

Meet Gabby! She was hired in January of 2023 and her role is Operations Assistant.

Here’s Gabby’s self-written bio:

After graduating from the University of Arkansas (woo pig 🐗) with a Bachelors in Environmental, Soil, and Water Science; Gabby moved to Seattle to be more involved in the sustainable lifestyles that exist in the PNW. Gabby found Farmbox Greens to be the perfect fit to fulfill her sustainable agriculture dreams! However, other than the purple room (her favorite color 💜), Gabby’s favorite thing about Farmbox are her fellow farmers. In her free time, you can find Gabby exploring Seattle with her favorite fantasy book and always a package of pea shoots in hand 🌱🫛

FARM UPDATE: We’re working to install new grow system LEDs 💡🌱💡

The warranty of our original lights has expired which means our yields have slowly decreased over time.

We want to grow as much as we can so we’re planning to replace them this year. To trial the process & work out the kinks, we installed a couple of rows of the new LEDs last week on level 2 (see slide 1).

As you can see, we’ve got a new spectrum of light - it’s called PKB! PKB has red, blue & green light (see slide 2 🌈). Our original LEDs (PPB) have red & blue light only.

If you’re interested in the technical side, please see our “Grow Room” highlight for the PPB vs. PKB spectra ratio.

The bottom line is that our new LEDs support biomass in plants and it’s much more eye friendly spectrum. We think it’s a win-win! 🏅

"Parmesan Egg & Dijon Toast for a late breakfast today and it might be on repeat this week because it’s so darn good. ✨ Seriously though, why don’t I make parmesan fried eggs more often? SO easy and so delicious.
A toasty slice of Casera Loaf is topped with a slather of Organic Dijon Mustard, a parmesan fried egg" plus own very own Micro Mix microgreens.
