I RETURNED HOME AFTER GIVING BIRTH TO FIND MY BABY'S ROOM REPAINTED BLACK AND RUINED.

I just gave birth to my baby girl, Amelia, two weeks ago. My husband, Tim, and I had been excited for months, and we created the perfect nursery—soft pink walls, white furniture, cute animals, the works. I couldn't wait to bring our daughter home after a difficult C-section.

Well, that excitement died the second I opened the nursery door. MY HEART STOPPED.

The room was DESTROYED. The walls were black, the entire room was also covered with ugly black patches, the baby clothes, toys—everything—GONE. I stood there holding Amelia, totally stunned. "What the hell is this?" I asked, shaking.

Then, in comes my MIL, Janet, with a smug look on her face. She crosses her arms and says, "Isn't it perfect now for THIS baby?" ⬇️

I PRETENDED TO BE POOR WHEN I MET MY SON'S FIANCÉE'S PARENTS TO SEE THEIR TRUE COLORS.

Being a single dad to a growing boy wasn't easy, so I made a few mistakes. Will was such a kind, loving, unspoiled kid that I lavished everything I could afford on him — and I could afford a lot. Before long, Will became the most popular guy around, but not for his kindness or good looks — it was because of my money.

When Will decided to study in another city, he kept my wealth a secret. He even made himself look like the poorest student to avoid fake friendships. That's when he met Eddy, a girl he truly liked, and by his third year at Yale, he was head over heels for her.

Will proposed to Eddy, and she said yes. That Thanksgiving, she took him home to meet her parents, Marta and Farlow. They were wealthy and wanted their daughter to marry someone rich, not a scruffy third-year science major. They were polite but clearly disapproved.

Eddy insisted that Will and I join her family for Christmas. Though Marta and Farlow weren't thrilled, they smiled and agreed, secretly making their own plans. So, Will and I dressed in the poorest clothes we had and took a bus to their beach house in Narragansett for Christmas.

ON CHRISTMAS EVE, I VISITED MY MISSING PARENTS' ABANDONED HOUSE FOR THE FIRST TIME IN 5 YEARS AND FOUND IT BEAUTIFULLY DECORATED.

I'm 38 now, and I haven't spoken to my parents since I was 18. They kicked me out when I got pregnant (for the record, I'm still with the same guy and we have three beautiful kids. We're incredibly happy).

The last time I was at my childhood home was five years ago, right after my parents went missing on a mountain trip.

Recently, I decided to visit for the first time since then. But as I pulled up, I was stunned. The place looked abandoned — broken windows, covered in graffiti — but it was still beautifully decorated.

It was decorated just like my dad used to do when I was little, even with the same old decorations he used.

I rushed inside, and in front of the fireplace, I saw a shadowy figure sitting. Hesitantly, with a shaky voice, I whispered, "DAD?" ⬇️

At 70, Edward’s days were always the same: he put on his suit, bought flowers, and headed to the movie theater. Every single day, he’d buy two tickets for the morning show. The staff would joke, “Why 2 tickets, sir? You’re always alone.” But Edward didn’t care—he was waiting.

30 years ago, Edward fell in love: the kind of love that takes your breath away. Evelyn was a ticket counter at the movie theater. Sparks flew, their romance was like a dream. Alice had always shared a special bond with her grandfather Bill, unlike her brothers, who seemed more interested in his wealth. So, when she found out she had inherited only an old barn, while her brothers, Jake and Ashton, received his house, she was taken aback. Her brothers laughed openly at her misfortune.
