Emerald City Pet Rescue has created a scholarship opportunity exclusively for a qualifying Vashon Island High School graduating senior of the class! We selected this school to be the first recipient of this award because Emerald City Pet Rescue has our sanctuary, Ghost Owl Farm on Vashon, and we've had such a wonderful experience feeling so welcomed by the animal-loving community on the island.
The scholarship honors the wonderful Ragan D. Gantt, a wonderful volunteer, and advocate for all animals and with ECPR. The scholarship involves a five-page essay and brief presentation to the school community regarding animal rights and rescue based on Emerald City Pet Rescue's mission statement.
Congratulations to the winner of our 2022 scholarship, Davis Kelly, and we are so honored to be offering this for its second consecutive year. Please check out his amazing essay in video form below!
Meet everyone’s favorite wild child, Chicka Boom Boom! This five-year-old Belgian Malinois firecracker is bursting with energy and loves to play! She will do anything for a ball, and sometimes runs into walls or knocks people over to get to it but this obsession is also good for training! She is much calmer when she is able to hold a ball during baths and will sit and wait when it’s used as a reward.
Chicka's adopter will need to work with her on socialization and training before meeting other dogs, and she will do best in a home with older children. If you’ve been looking for a fun and tireless friend to spice up your life, consider adopting Chicka Boom Boom! Give us a call at 206 557 4661
Are you a lover of all things bunny? We've got lots adorable friends looking to find a hop-py forever home! We have bonded pairs, bachelors / bachelorettes, and bunnies that are looking to bond with your resident rabbit. Check out all of our furry hoppy friends here: www.emeraldcitypetrescue.org/our-animals/critters/ and give us a call at 206 557 4661 if any of them catch your eye!
Layne - Available for adoption!
Meet Layne! This nine-year-old pom mix blind boy is just the sweetest little snuggle bug! He is pretty low energy but he loves going on slow sniffing walks and accompanying his foster everywhere in a dog sling. He is good with cats and other calm dogs but can be a little nervous around people with deep voices. He is very cuddly and doesn’t like to be alone.
Layne takes eye drops for his cataracts and eats a prescription diet, but he is the goodest boy about both of these things. He also doesn’t mind baths. He just wants to be wherever his person is. If you’re looking for a cute older man to attach to your hip, consider adopting Layne! Give us a call at 206 557 4661
