Magnuson Off-Leash Dog Park

Magnuson Off-Leash Dog Park Magnuson Park’s off-leash area is by far the largest, most popular and most widely used off-leash area in Seattle.
(60)

The Magnuson off-leash area contains 8.4 acres. It is a place where city hounds can romp with buddies in Seattle’s biggest fully-fenced back yard for canines. This off-leash area is the only one inside city limits with water access (Lake Washington’s freshwater shoreline). The site has a large, generally flat play area, a winding trail with several open areas and changes of scenery along the way,

and it gives dog owners and their dogs of all ages plenty of space to “work out”. Most of the trail is compact gravel and is wheelchair accessible. This off-leash area has a small and shy dog area within the larger dog park. Fencing and signs were installed in coordination with the Magnuson Off Leash Area Group (MOLG). The small/shy dog area is located just to the south of the main entrance kiosk, accessible from NE 74th street.

Volunteer Work Party at Magnuson Dog Park!

Join us this Saturday from 9 AM to 12 PM for a volunteer work party at Magnuson Dog Park. Our main task will be to remove foxtails along the fence line, helping to keep our park safe and beautiful for all our furry friends!

Why Foxtails Are a Problem:
Foxtails are more than just pesky weeds; they can be dangerous for dogs. The barbed seed heads can easily get caught in a dog’s fur and burrow into their skin, ears, nose, or paws, causing pain and potential infections. By removing foxtails, we are protecting our dogs from these hazards.

What to Bring:

• Gloves (we’ll provide water for all volunteers)

Your help makes a big difference in maintaining our wonderful community space. We hope to see you there! RSVP Below!

Water Availability: The usual water spigot will be closed; bring water for your pups!
🔨 Improvements Include:

Enhanced concrete paths for better mobility access.
Installation of a new double gate for smoother entry.
Resurfacing and realignment of ADA parking.
Upgraded drainage near the water areas.
🚗 Parking Tip: Consider parking in nearby lots within Magnuson Park for easier access.

I just got this message regarding the previous dog theft attempts,
“Hi - I am not sure if this is related, but I wanted to share a suspicious encounter that happened yesterday 7/1 at around 10am at the waterfront. There was a man standing in the brush on the other side of the fence (beside the fallen tree) squeaking a ball trying to draw dogs to him. Both our golden and a husky went right to him. Because of these warnings, we immediately called our dog and went towards the man. He disappeared and we didn’t see him again.”
Have fun but stay alert everyone!

Hey everyone! Please keep your dogs in your vision. Yesterday and today there have been children leashing dogs and trying to take them out of the park. Yesterday someone was in the restroom and they actually got out of the park but the dog had a tracker and was found near the baseball fields.

Hi Everyone!
At this point in time Parks and Recreations has no new information on opening up the parking due to the Corona virus. As soon as we receive info we will let everyone know. Our furries need their friends.

As of Tuesday, May 5, some outdoor recreation will be allowed with appropriate safety precautions including: fishing; hunting; playing golf; day use at state parks, state public lands managed by the Department of Natural Resources and at state Fish and Wildlife areas. Some parks may not open immediately due to impacts on rural communities and the potential for crowding. State Parks is working with local communities and its partners to determine the best approach and timing to reopening these areas. Visitor centers, camping and other overnight accommodations on state-managed lands will remain closed. Visitors, anglers and hunters should only venture out well-prepared. The public should expect limited access to restrooms. WDFW is also recommending that people bring their own handwashing materials, toilet paper and masks or bandanas and be prepared to change plans if sites appear congested.

Any additional relaxing of outdoor recreation restrictions will depend on data and compliance.

The governor outlined the following guidelines:
✔️ Anyone exhibiting any cold or flu-like symptoms should not participate in these activities.
✔️ People must limit their partners in recreational activities to only those who live within a household unit.
✔️ Use face coverings where social distancing is not possible.
✔️ People must recreate locally and continue to limit unnecessary travel. Overnight trips remain prohibited. Bringing your own food and supplies when possible will also help reduce exposure.
