Dr. Ward and Dr. Black in the zone at our self-defense class last weekend!
Last weekend, SVP sent our employees to participate in a self-defense class at Strategic Living in South Seattle. For 5 hours, they all had the chance to identify signs, discover our inner super-selves, and learn important safety skills for any potentially dangerous encounter. (Oh yeah, and punch a dummy named "Bob" in the face while yelling "NO!" which was in itself was quite empowering.)
SVP's reasoning to chose this as a thank you gift to our employees is simple:
The veterinary industry is predominantly female. What better way to honor our already awesome team than to provide them the opportunity to develop potentially life-saving skills?
Additionally, people who are capable of protecting and defending themselves are more confident, which can directly affect their over all sense of well-being, their ability to perform at a high level, and their leadership potential! Win Win!

Bats- they're just like us! They bicker too!

And for your viewing pleasure: Dr. Ward and her husband Rod, our Vice President and Director of Operations, recently went to Sydney Australia and stumbled upon a large colony of bats near a relative's house. And while they didn't have computer algorithms to interpret their discussions, it was pretty apparent there was some nit-picking going on! What do you think they're arguing about?!
