โ๏ธ Emmy's story! โ๏ธ
We couldn't be prouder to be part of her medical team, we are so proud of how far she has come over such a short time. Although her boot may be sticking around for the long haul, she doesn't seem to mind. โค๏ธ

We have always been huge advocates for ODH and the work they do. ODH provides permanent foster homes for unadoptable, abandoned, or soon-to-be homeless senior dogs in Western Washington. They assist owners, shelters, and rescues in finding homes for their adoptable senior dogs, aged eight and over. They also educate the public about the value of senior dogs in our lives and the unique gifts they bring us.

Utta is a 5-year-old female spayed Rottweiler, who has a history of osteoarthritis in multiple joints. Since an early age, Utta has been treated for osteoarthritis and has tried a multitude of treatments. She has had bilateral TPLOs and both implants were removed. She also has bilateral patella alta with patellar tendinosis.
Utta also has bilateral elbow dysplasia with the right side worse than the left and has bilateral biceps tendinopathy as well as lumbosacral disease. The right elbow and the right stifle have always been the joints that cause her the most pain.
We managed her pain with multiple pain medications, suppliments and different levels of rehab.
Utta was then treated with Synovetin OA in November 2021.
Although Utta continues to be treated for her multi-joint osteoarthritis, the Synovetin OA treatment helped stop the chronic inflammatory process in the two joints that caused her the most discomfort. By addressing them, her osteoarthritis is now manageable, and her quality of life has improved.
Synovetin OA is a new and safe treatment that is showing promising results in the management of chronic pain due to osteoarthritis. It is a treatment that can be considered for patients that respond poorly or have adverse side effects to prior treatments.
Uttas Fitbark collar showed that prior to her Synovetin OA treatment she averaged between 2100 to 3200 steps daily. Her daily steps increased to 3900 just two days after treatment. Since then she has been averaging between 4500-5000 steps, showing a 70% increase.
Swipe Left to see Utta's before and after videos!
To learn more about Synovetin, reach out to us, or ask your primary veterinarian if Synovetin is right for your pet.

Sheep interval training for weight loss!
Physical rehabilitation has been shown to help with weight loss-- even in sheep! We work with #WoodlandParkZoo on fitness and conditiong programs such as this... These two girls are about 10-20 lb overweight. Along with being on a diet, they do interval training of cavaletti runs and inclines- multiple reps, several times a day, and they love it! They are wearing a Fitbark on their collar to track their activity and have steadily been losing weight since starting their traning!
We love partnering with the Woodland Park Zoo because, like us at SOUND, they are passionate about using various rehabilitative tools to help improve the lives of their geriatric/arthritic animals. Today, Dr. Knapp provided acupuncture for two penguins at WPZ to help with arthritis in their knees, feet and backs.
Mr. Sea (29 years old) and Quanto (25 years old) both showed immediate increased energy and activity following their treatments and Dr. Knapp is already looking forward to seeing them again in two weeks!
Goats need rehab too!
We continue to collaborate with Woodland Park Zoo, including teaching a goat one of our favorite therapeutic exercises: peanut pushups!
We are so proud to work with Harmony Frazier, LVT, CCRP, LSAMP (in video on the left) who has spearheaded the rehabilitation program at the zoo-- she was just awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award by the American Association of Zoo Keepers! Harmony and the team at WPZ recognize the benefits that rehabilitaiton techniques afford every species of animal. We are so proud of our partnership and look forward to continuing to build our programs together!
