Medical emergencies can occur suddenly and without warning, so it's best to be prepared. A Pet First Aid Kit allows you to have important items available to care for your pet in one area. No one can be prepared for all emergencies, but it's still important to have the basics.

If the emergency is severe, get your pet to your local hospital as soon as possible.

A behind the scenes look into what goes on during a dental cleaning: this is just one (important) piece of what is done during a dental cleaning. Look at how satisfying it is to see the mineral deposit build up be ultrasonically scaled to reveal the beautiful teeth underneath. Yearly dentals are so important! Please give us a call if you have any questions about cat and dog dentals!

Sometimes we have good samaritans bring by a lost dog or cat they have found in the neighborhood and we are able to scan them for a microchip to try to reunite them with their human. Last week was one of those days, and we are so happy that this handsome guy, who we found out is named Tank(!) was in fact microchipped! Swipe left ---> we also found him posted on a lost pet page, in a post about his sister Mabel (who also adventured, but was later found and reunited as well, we heard!) This is why we are so happy that microchips exist! We were quickly able to call the number linked to the microchip and get her in touch with the good samaritan who was able to bring Tank to her house. A great reminder to not only microchip your fur babies, but also make sure to always keep your contact information up-to-date in the company portal with which the microchip is registered (for example: 24petwatch, HomeAgain, etc.)

Brenna came in for an echocardiogram (an ultrasound test that checks the structure and function of the heart πŸ’—) and while she was here she took a few client calls (we didn't even ask her to do that!). Next thing we knew, she was curled up in a blanket and resting! Luckily, the echo did give us some answers as to what's going on with Brenna's heart, and she's on a treatment plan and ready to tackle life again (although we are going to insist she just rests next time she's in). Love you Brenna!

You might be thinking Nala arrived to her appointment on a motorcycle, but this cool cat is actually undergoing laser therapy!
Nala is being treated for gingivostomatitis, a form of oral inflammation. Stomatitis is often very painful, causing a decreased appetite or difficulty eating. Weight loss may occur. Often it will be too painful for the cat to self-groom, causing the haircoat to appear unkempt. Luckily, laser therapy a is a non-invasive and painless treatment that uses specific wavelengths of light to stimulate healing and reduce inflammation and can be done at our clinic!
What other types of conditions benefit from therapeutic laser?
The most common applications for therapeutic laser include muscular sprain/strain and the resultant pain, osteoarthritis (laser treatment over joints and muscles that are painful), post-operative application around incisions, wounds (to stimulate and accelerate healing) and any situation in which the pet is experiencing musculoskeletal pain. Other applications include aiding in the healing of bone fractures, lick granulomas, tendon injuries, and as part of acupuncture treatments.

Lemon has been coming in for happy visits! A happy visit is where you come to our clinic just to stop in and say hi we get to shower your dog in pets, treats and compliments. You can also have your dog practice sitting on the scale. Having experiences that are strictly positive help reduce fear and anxiety in our pets so that coming to the vet isn't so scary when the time comes to have an exam. No need to call ahead for this - just stop on by whenever we are open!

Beck recently had a dental cleaning done and look at the results 😍. X-rays showed that he had tooth resorption occurring in one of his teeth, so it was decided that removing the painful tooth would be the best option. He also received an application of Sanos sealant which will keep his teeth protected from plaque for up to 6 months, extending the benefits of the dental cleaning!

Today we were impacted by the Microsoft update which created a network outage around the world. Unfortunately, our systems are still affected and we are unable to access some of our software that help our clinic operate. If you have an appointment tomorrow, Saturday July 20th, we kindly ask that you call us before heading over to the clinic to be sure our systems are back online (since we don’t have access to the system for us to contact you ahead of time). Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to resolve this as quick as possible!
