Meet Frieda! This sweet gal has been with us for two months and that’s a long time without a home. She’s full of love and is ready to give it. Let’s find this regal pup a home asap!! Stop by during our open adoption hours today starting at 1 pm to meet her!

UPDATE: Fosters have been found!! Thank you to every single person for reaching out and stepping up. This community always comes through for Seattle’s pets and for that we 🫶🫶🫶🥹

🚨🚨Shelter fam! We need your help! Last night we received these adorable pups who need bottle-feeding every 2-3 hours, including overnight. We are urgently seeking fosters to help with their care (and previous bottle-feeding experience is strongly preferred.) Please apply to foster on our site and contact us today if you can help! 🐶🍼

Update: Capone is available for adoption and Toad will be tomorrow (12/6)!! POV you and your best friend are the two saddest creatures in the shelter 🥹These two strays we are calling Capone and Toad. Capone is a 1 year old pittie mi who obviously is way too thin, so he’s on a refeeding plan to get him to a normal food intake. Toad is a 1-2 year old bully mix with demodectic mange and atopic dermatitis. If their owners don’t come forward for them, they’ll be available for adoption on 12/5 and 12/6, respectively. They are available for foster today! Just go to the link in our bio to learn how to foster.

Yesterday’s windstorm not only downed trees and power lines. It blew over fences, like the one meant to keep 15-year-old pup Riot safely contained in his Greenwood backyard.

As soon as Riot’s owners—mom and son Tina Alley and Nathan Walsh—saw he was gone, they rushed to find him. Fortunately, they saw a posting yesterday evening on their neighborhood Nextdoor that a Good Samaritan had found him and taken him to the Seattle Animal Shelter. (And in even better luck, this was before the very strongest of the wind gusts hit our region so Riot rode out the bomb cyclone in the safety of a kennel with fellow shelter pups.)

Today, Riot’s owners were reunited with their little guy and picked him up at the shelter. It was a full circle moment because the last time he was here was 15 years ago when Tina and Nathan adopted him. 🐶🥰

We’re happy for this pup and his sweet owners!

King County’s love for our pets is no secret. And so many pets means a lot of pet-related businesses! That’s where our Pet Business Program comes in – to keep pets safe & prevent the spread of diseases, we permit and inspect over 500 pet businesses (groomers, day cares, kennels, etc.).

SCAM ALERT!!
We have been made aware of a scam in which folks who have filed a lost pet report receive a call from someone pretending to be an employee of the shelter, stating their lost pet is critically injured and in need of surgery, and requesting a deposit in order to move forward with surgery. Please know that Seattle Animal Shelter does not require advance payment for sick or injured animals in our care! We take the care of our animals very seriously and would not ask a distressed pet owner for a deposit for their sick or injured pet.

If you are concerned that your lost pet is at our shelter, please visit our lost pet page: https://www.seattle.gov/animal.../find-an-animal/lost-pets. You can also call (206) 386-7387 or visit the shelter between open hours Tues-Fri and Sat/Sun from 1-5pm.
