Right now, shelters and rescue teams in LA are working tirelessly to protect and care for animals and their families who are being displaced by the fires. The biggest need on the ground is for fosters, but for those of us who are watching from afar, donations are one of the best ways we can help.

The West Seattle QFC is a location listed to donate pet food.

Memorial walk for Ruth. ♥️

On August 20, 2024, the community suffered an unimaginable loss when Ruth Dalton and her cherished dog, Prince, were tragically lost to a senseless act of violence. In response, the community she so dearly touched is coming together to honor her legacy of love and kindness, and to advocate for solutions to the violence that took her from us.

Join us as we stand with Ruth's friends and family on Wednesday, September 4, at 6:30 PM for the "Justice for Ruth" Candlelight Memorial Walk.

📍 Starting Point: Intersection of East Harrison and MLK, Seattle
📍 Walk ends at: Madison Park
🕒 Time: Walk begins at 6:30 PM (1 mile, approx. 30 minutes)

Participants are encouraged to bring their dogs along the path. Please note: As this is a peaceful memorial, not a protest, the organizers kindly request no signs. The mayor and council will speak at the park following the walk.

Let’s come together as a community to remember Ruth and Prince, and advocate for a future free from such senseless violence.

Our professional dog walking community has been rattled, bewildered, and heartbroken over the violence, murder, and animal cruelty that transpired last week. Our hearts go out to her family and her animal family whom she served for decades. Ruth was one of the pioneers in the business and I hope Seattle considers naming a dog park after her.

The suspect, Jahmed Haynes, is charged with murder in the first degree, animal cruelty in the first degree, and assault in the second degree.

There’s a new kid on the block! Welcome T-Rex, he’s a 4 year old English Cream Retriever who is loving making new friends and smelling new territories. 🐶 Super gentle and sweet boy who’s eager to learn new cues.

This seems like a lifetime ago when I look at this painting. I painted it 24 years ago in an adorable brick up home with floor to ceiling windows facing the Puget Sound. It was the first year I launched Dog Trots and the Weimaraner in this painting is not of Asia or Clementine but of Polo 🐶. Polo was the Weimaraner that made the cross country trip with me when I moved to Seattle from the Midwest. I had packed my easel, strapped my mountain bike (on my red Ford Probe) and a very large bag of Ol’ Roy dog food 🦴. She was my other half, my muse, my heart. I’m not sure where I would be today (career wise) without her. She lived just two months shy of seventeen.
