It is with a very heavy 💔 heart, I must share that our beloved Emma crossed the rainbow bridge on Saturday June 24, 2023.

Words cannot begin to describe the sadness and emptiness our hearts and home feel right now. She was a constant light and source of complete joy and happiness. There isn’t a person that met her that didn’t fall in love with her immediately.

Emma became mama to three litters of puppies and cared for all her babies with such tenderness and love until they left for their forever homes. She had such a warrior spirit as she went through three c-sections and still made sure all her babies were cared for.

When any of us came home, entered a room, sat down for dinner or were just hanging out, my baby girl was always there waiting for a scratch on her hind end or a nibble of whatever we were eating. She loved to wrestle with Louie and chew bones, but sunbathing and snuggling with her family was her happy place.

Emma was diagnosed with cancer in October, 2022 and handled her illness with such bravery until her very last breath. Until her last moments, my baby girl let her people know how much she loved them. I pray you knew how much we loved you and how your love and spirit helped us navigate life.

Run free my sweet baby girl 🌈. You will always and forever be in our hearts. 💗💗

It’s bee season…. Some helpful tips if your baby is stung.

As the warmer weather is upon us, please keep an eye out for bees and the safety of your dogs!

Dog stung by a bee?

Here are some dos and don’ts…

DO!
• Remove the stinger by scraping a credit card along the skin.
• Reduce swelling by applying towel-wrapped ice or frozen vegetables to the area.
• Mix baking soda with water to create a paste that can help neutralize the acidic venom, then bandage the area to prevent licking.
• If your dog experiences more severe signs, such as facial swelling or difficulty breathing contact your vet ASAP!
• Vomiting is usually the first symptom of anaphylaxis. Vomiting, hives, facial swelling in that order.

DON'T!
• Use Tweezers - you could inadvertently squeeze the venom sac, forcing more venom into the skin.
• Give your dog any medication without consulting your vet.

Do you have Foxtails in your neighborhood?? Prolific around Seattle and many parts of the Northwest (and in fact, the country), foxtails are a grass seed that imbed an any part of the animal possible, and keep digging deeper and deeper. They can burrow to the brain if inhaled through the nose, cause punctured lungs, blindness, abscesses, pain, and death. They must be surgically removed. A Foxtal wound between the toes is often mistaken for an interdigital cyst, which is common in Bulldogs. When in doubt, see your vet!

A reminder for our bullie babies…. Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

Don't let those begging eyes fool you! They may be part of the family, but please don't feed your dog the same Thanksgiving foods that humans enjoy.

Foods to keep away from your dog:
-Turkey skin, drippings, or gravy
-Turkey bones, or cooked bones of any kind.
-Turkey twine
-Corn cobs
-Anything with onion or garlic
-Mushrooms
-Sage or nutmeg
-Nuts, especially macadamia
-Fat trimmings
-Chocolate
-Alcohol

Please please keep your bullies indoors and as cool as you can or outdoors in a shady area with grass during this heat.

A cool bandana around the neck helps or an ice cube for them to lick. Ours go in a cool bath (not ice cold- just cool) which helps a ton to cool them down.

Also- please remember the asphalt temp can burn their pads so try to keep their time walking on it at a minimum.
