At grooming time, we freshen up his beak and help him with a little bit of the back work 🖤 This is the best view of what a blood feather looks like, it’s not too pink but the tackiness gives it away! Amazon parrot tail feather preening! This cutie used to have a flockmate that would preen these feathers but unfortunately they are no longer together so pin feathers go unpreened. I removed the dried keratin sheath but left the base of the feather to continue forming ( it’s still in a tender blood feather phase and should not be shed[tacky feeling or pink hue to it]).
