For National Senior Pet Month, we’re honored to introduce Jonesy, an “absolutely perfect” rescue pup who captured his family’s hearts from day one. Saved from nearly being euthanized in a California shelter at just 8 months old, Jonesy was likely bred to look like a forever puppy and then abandoned after not being sold, leading him to survive as a street scavenger. Thankfully, a Seattle rescue stepped in and brought him to safety, and his family feels like the luckiest on the planet to have been chosen as his forever home.

Jonesy shared a beautiful bond with his sister, Tawny, a Golden who passed away this May at 15 years—a long and wonderful life. He adored her, and her memory lives on in his heart.

Thank you, mom, for letting us celebrate your sweet and resilient boy. Jonesy, you’re a treasure to all who know you! ❤️🐶

For National Senior Pet Month, we’re thrilled to feature Snowball, a sweet and affectionate 13-year-old Bichon who loves to keep up with the younger crowd! She may be a senior, but she doesn’t like to show her age. Snowball prefers the company of people but enjoys being around everyone, bringing her gentle, loving spirit wherever she goes.

Snowball, you’re young at heart and bring so much joy to all of us! ❤️🐶

For National Senior Pet Month, we’re delighted to feature Harley, a loyal pup who’s been part of the DDL family since she was a puppy! Harley turns 15 next June and, while she enjoys more naps these days, she still loves car rides, short walks, and spending time with her people. And she doesn’t even think she’s a dog (well, she’s right because she’s an angel!).

Though she no longer chases balls in the yard, Harley adores catching them and proudly carrying them wherever she goes—especially at the beach. She’s truly the best and brings so much joy to everyone around her.

Thank you, Harley, for letting us be part of your incredible journey! ❤️🐶

For National Senior Pet Month, we’re delighted to feature 13-year-old Evie, the ultimate cuddle bug with no concept of personal space! She loves being close, meeting new dog friends, and going on long walks—as long as it’s dry outside. After dinner, Evie’s playful side shines as she zooms around the house, squeaking her favorite plush toys.

For National Senior Pet Month, we’re excited to introduce this magical duo of 13-year-olds, named after beloved characters from Harry Potter. Lupin and Tonks joined their family as puppies in 2011, rescued from a local animal hospital in Tallahassee, FL. Though they came from different rescue situations, a DNA test later revealed they’re actually cousins—talk about a magical twist!

In 2015, these adventurous pups made the journey across the country to Seattle, where they love exploring the outdoors and spending time at their “home away from home” at DDL. Alongside their cat sibling, Lucy, Lupin and Tonks are an inseparable and loving pair who bring joy to all. Here’s to more enchanting adventures! ❤️🐾

For National Senior Pet Month, we’re excited to spotlight Benny, the hungriest and friendliest dog around! He is always on the lookout for snacks and will happily play until he passes out. Throughout his life, he’s been mistaken for a puppy, with his youthful spirit and energy fooling everyone. Only recently has he started to look a bit more like a senior—but he rarely acts like one!

Benny, your boundless enthusiasm and playful heart bring so much joy to us all. Here’s to more snacks, fun, and youthful days ahead! ❤️🐶

For National Senior Pet Month, we're excited to feature Opie, a blanket-burrowing, sun-loving sidekick who stole his mom’s heart at first sight back in 2013. Ever since, he’s been her loyal companion, always close by, whether napping at her feet during work or curling up for cozy TV time. This well-traveled pup has even joined her on flights to the East Coast!

Opie’s favorite comforts? Sunbathing, getting wrapped up in blankets (sometimes so well he’s “lost”), and his two treasured toys: the little yellow duck he brought home from the shelter and his beloved Lamb Chops.

Opie, you’re a true ray of sunshine in our lives! ❤️🐶

For National Senior Pet Month, we’re honored to celebrate Jojo, a cherished pup who brought so much love and joy to his family. Adopted at 11 months old from the LASPCA, Jojo lived an adventurous life, calling New Orleans, Jersey City, and finally Seattle his home for the past seven years.

Jojo was a lover of people, rope toys, fresh laundry, blankets, and all the cuddles he could get. His favorite Seattle spots included local parks, Sam’s Tavern, and, our SLU location. On a camping trip by the East Fork Lewis River, Jojo even surprised everyone by showing off his swimming skills!

Jojo, your joyful spirit and endless charm will always hold a special place in our hearts. ❤️🐶

For National Senior Pet Month, we're excited to introduce Kojak, a true sunshine-loving snuggle bug! This sweet boy is happiest curled up with his people on a mound of blankets, and he's known to grumble whenever the rain rolls in. Adopted in 2012, Kojak joined his family after completing an inmate-canine training program (Pets Uniting People Program) through Purebred Rescue of Ohio.

In his younger days, Kojak would spin in circles while walking straight and even do barrel rolls when he got excited! Though he’s slowed down a bit, he still keeps those spins going with the same joyful spirit. Kojak, you bring so much light and love wherever you go! ❤️

Known for his signature “bark at nothing,” lightning-fast eating skills, and love for all the pets, Cosmo is the ultimate cuddle bear. He’s that friend who reminds you, “Everything’s gonna be fine... now let’s have a snack!”

For National Senior Pet Month, we’re thrilled to feature Olive, a remarkable almost 10-year-old senior rescue who found her forever home through Ginger’s Pet Rescue! Olive may not have puppy pics, but she’s got an incredible story.

When adopted, Olive was nearly blind from cataracts, but double cataract surgery changed her world, and now she sees perfectly! This clever and tough girl has settled into the pampered life—she even insists on being lifted over any floor thresholds. After a fresh haircut, Olive channels her inner puppy, looking and feeling spiffy! She also loves dressing up for Halloween and has her own line of mugs and shirts!

Olive, thank you for lighting up our days with your resilient spirit and fabulous style. We’re so glad to be part of your journey! ❤️

As part of National Senior Pet Month, we’re excited to feature Zollie, who will be celebrating his fifteenth birthday in March! Though he’s slowed down a bit, Zollie still has plenty of spry moments that keep his family smiling. Earlier this year, he faced "Old Dog Syndrome" but made a remarkable 90-95% recovery. He’s also adapting well with limited vision in one eye due to a cataract. Most recently, Zollie has found a peaceful coexistence with his family’s new puppy, Addy!

Zollie, we’re so inspired by your resilience and gentle spirit! Here’s to many more joyful days ahead! ❤️

For National Senior Pet Month, we’re excited to introduce you to some of the amazing senior dogs in our care – starting with the lovely 12-year old Pizza! 🍕

Pizza’s family has a soft spot for adopting seniors, and she has been with them for 9 wonderful years. She had a senior “big brother” named Brown Cow (Cowie), who she adored. Pizza was picked up as a stray in California before being rescued and brought up here. Her Gotcha Day just passed, marking nearly a decade of love and adventures!

Pizza is truly a tiny soulmate to her family, a velcro dog who stays close to the ones she loves. She’s incredibly attuned to people’s feelings and loves making new friends. Her favorite things? Naps, cheese, car rides, window watching, and digging up mole hills! Pizza is also co-parented by her parents, who both treasure her deeply. 🥰 We’re honored to be her safe space while her humans are at work.

We love you, Pizza! Thanks for bringing so much joy to everyone at DDL! ❤️
