* UPDATE *
Thank you to all who have shown interest in Honey. I have reached out to the owner who understandably is very emotional. As I mentioned she is newly widowed and going through a lot of transition and changes. I have a list of interested parties who have messaged and will go based on order of contact. The owner had asked to wait until tomorrow to speak with interested parties, again due to the emotional nature of having to rehome Honey. Greatly appreciate the outpouring of interest for Honey. Will follow up with updates as we receive them.

Sharing for the owner who, with a heavy heart, is having to find a home for her yellow lab, Honey. She is a recent widow who due to no family in Florida, is relocating out of state to live with family and cannot take Honey with her.

Honey is 7 years old, and is aprx. 80 lbs. She is located in Vero.

We’d be lying if we said our heartstrings are a little conflicted.. Gumby stole our hearts as soon as he walked into our kennel this past week & showed his social butterfly personality. We already miss the gummy kisses & belly rubs but are happier in knowing he got to spend his FIRST night in his new forever! The absolute resilience he has shown from his former life of dog fighting & dumped for dead.. he deserves the world & we’re so excited he’s going to get it! Another successful Homeward Bound Program placement, WTG “Gummy Bear”! 💙🐾

K9 1 is extremely proud to announce our partnership with the Indian River County Sheriff's Office on adding their newest therapy dog to the program! Raven was a board & train turned client surrender mid May. As we worked more w/ her over time in hopes of finding a fitting home, we realized she would be a perfect therapy dog. We are incredibly proud of Raven & her handler Deputy Boles on saving a life in just their first day in the field! We look forward to continuing to assist with her training as well as expanding our therapy dog training/ placement moving forward.

When you think of K-9's in law enforcement, you think of the dogs that are trained to catch up to criminals.

Not the longest stay, but the saddest... our sweet Gumby is next in line for the Homeward Bound Program at K9 1 Training & Consulting!

When Gumby was carried through our doors, we immediately knew he had lived through the life of a bait dog used for fighting.

While my heart wanted to stop at this moment, I quickly pushed through the tears and focused on the incredible future this lucky boy has ahead.

Gumby has been through the long physical medical journey. The Homeward Bound Program is now his chance to shine emotionally and gain his confidence through the help from other dog friends.. his biggest fear as dogs have never been a friend to him.

Gumby is one of the most physically broken dogs that we have rescued and we are excited to watch his transformation.

We need your help... Gumby starts this Tuesday and does not have a potential family lined up for him at the end of the Program. Please help us share his story to find him his forever home!

Effective September 2024

As our business grows, we have found it necessary to improve upon the manner in which we handle scheduling for our various services. We have decided to partner with Paw Partner which has a free, downloadable app in which existing and/or new clients interested in utilizing our services, may create an account for their dog(s). We are hoping to streamline the process of reservations for daycare, boarding, training and grooming services as well as allow for a single point of communication through the use of the app for any questions or concerns. We appreciate all our clients and are hoping this to be a relatively smooth transition. As part of Paw Partner, there will be a dedicated telephone number used for messaging, eliminating the use of Brian's cell phone, 772-205-5844 or Taylor's cell phone, 772-410-6914. We have found with the volume of texts and calls, it simply created an overload causing a delay in being able to return calls or answer text messages in a timely fashion.

We are looking to go live with Paw Partner beginning September 2, 2024. You will receive an email from
Pawzlove/Paw Partner inviting you to claim your account.

This is a new system for us, and kindly ask for patience as we transition to this new program with the hope of streamlining the manner in which we conduct business and serve our clients. As with any new program, we anticipate there may be unforeseen problems, which we will address with the assistance of Paw Partners technical support team.
Until such time when we have a dedicated telephone number for messaging, you can continue to reach out to 772-205-5844 should you have any questions or concerns.

In conjunction with the integration of Paw Partners, we have found it necessary to modify operating hours for Sunday pick up/drop offs that we had from 1-3 pm. Being a small, family run business, with a small staff, we find 7 days a week does not allow for a day of rest, therefore we will be closed on Sunday for drop off/pick up beginning September 1, 2024. Bookings for boarding that have already been made will be honored, however new bookings will not provide for pick up/drop offs on Sundays. It is important to us to have our Sunday for church services and in providing that needed time of rest.

God has certainly blessed our business with some amazing clients, and for that we are truly grateful. We appreciate each and every client who has entrusted us with the care of their pet and look forward to continuing to serve you.

One more sleep before my Homeward Bound journey begins at K9 1 Training & Consulting!

Before leaving for the North to beat the heat, I got to spend a couple of sleepovers with my bestest friend Vikki. This opened my eyes to a whole world I had been missing! This is what I learned...

The biggest thing. I don’t want to spend another birthday at the shelter. While the shelter is all I have known my entire life and I do love my people like family, I really preferred being in a home. Every dog's dream!

I felt so loved and special. I was allowed to have all kinds of new experiences. My first car ride in a long time. My first ever noise of the refrigerator running, toilet flushing, and television were all new to me, but my intelligence and curiosity won out! By my second overnight, I jumped into the car with ease and knew the hum and rhythm of the home and what fun!

I had no accidents or incidents in the home whatsoever. I adore playing… toys, fetch, and walks! I am very alert to the sounds outside of the house and I found I have a wonderful, powerful bark which I use judiciously.

I would love nothing more than to be a loyal, loving part of your family. Please share and follow my Homeward Bound journey and help make my wish come true- MY Forever Home!

Earlier this week we had Hurley make it home after working on basic obedience, loose leash walking, tone recall, & place w us. Hurley lives on a large property where he can get a ways off & is important he comes when instructed. We’re so happy his owners are happy with how much progress Hurley made! 🐾💙

Another successful week w/ the Homeward Bound Program! Jax came to us after being at HALO for over 2 yrs & before that being a transfer from another shelter. Shelter life is pretty much all he has remembered & it unfortunately hindered him when it came to meet & greets w/ potential adopters. He would bite every outside person he met & was listed as dog reactive. Once we got him out of his shelter environment & into our pack here, he showed his true self! A happy, goofy, springy boy ready for love.. as the advertising begun for him, a family who needed another fell in love. They previously had min pins & knew Jax was the one when they started having dreams of their last dog. Jax returned the favor of falling in love & the match was made! We are so so proud of how much Jax overcame this last week & accepting his new family’s open arms. WTG Jax! 🐾💙
