A little before and after on this 10yo rescue pony. In short, he’d been pretty neglected for at least the past 5 years. I typically wouldn’t teach them to pick up there feet the same day we trim but this guy needed some help as quickly as we could give it to him. It will take quite a few cycles to get these feet to where they need to be but this was a great setup trim for him that alleviated a lot of discomfort. P.S. turn your volume up for some commentary. #horsemanship #bridlehorse #farrier #pony
Creating new and lasting positive habits with this gelding. As always, please leave any questions or comments below! #horsemanship #horsetraining #Colorado #bridlehorse
I thought this might be a great video to share. This was Jaquimas first time having the rope swung around her and tying. Feel free to leave any questions or comments as usual! #roping #bridlehorse #horsemanship #Colorado #spadebit #buckaroo #yearling #babyhorse
This was about the best I could do for making a how to video that would fit into a 90 second time frame for Instagram. I hope this video helps someone out there working on these shots. As always, please feel free to leave any questions or comments below! #bridlehorse #roping #spadebit #Colorado
I’m not sure if it gets much better than watching these two grow up together. They were born one week apart, both turning two in August. P.S. This is the first time Reata has been saddled and cinched, which means I would consider this as Rayne putting a first ride on… if I’m being technical 😄. #babies #horsemanship
Day 69 with Hawk. We are continuously taking as many steps as this guy needs. Hawk gains a lot of confidence from a herd, and when he’s away he becomes more reactive. This is why I am spending time on him more right now. Even though he’s packed mineral, had weight in the stirrup, and been ponied, he still feels pressure from people. So when you’re above him or on him, the pressure is elevated and can push him to his reactive side. Taking the necessary steps to develop his processing side is extremely important here. In short, this guy just needs some more time to think with people, instead of react to people. #horsemanship #bridlehorse #colorado
Day 57 with Hawk. I am asking for more speed while keeping Hawk in a processing state of mind. A big piece of this horses success will be dependent on his ability to process information when things get fast, and this is how I prepare them. Please leave any questions or comments below as always guys! #bridlehorse #horsemanship #Colorado
Interesting morning. #Colorado #horsemanship
Day 45 with Hawk. Continuously working right eye, left eye after some time off. It is important to eliminate as much anticipation in a horse before a first ride. Drop any questions or comments below! #bridlehorse #Colorado #horsemanship
I wanted to share some longer length clips from the other day, along with a little after video of how Jaquima is progressing. You can create a fight pretty quick roping and halter breaking horses, so I try and keep things as quiet as possible. I left these videos with there original sounds so everyone can hear how quiet and relaxed we try and keep everything. The loudest thing in the pen should be your horse rolling the cricket. #bridlehorse #Colorado #horsemanship
Be careful when you take a roping lesson with me, I might throw a few of these while you’re rebuilding 😂. I’m usually 1/10 on the second shot, but on this day I couldn’t miss. #Colorado #bridlehorse #roping #charro
Day 30 with Hawk. There are two separate days of filming in this video. One is roping Hawks feet, and the other is swinging a leg over bareback. I will also say it is irrelevant how many people have tried to ride this horse, and irrelevant if any have gotten away with it. We can never know an older horses full history. However, to make a nice horse you need relaxation, and that only comes from good horsemanship coupled with time. I have a feel for what this horse needs and believe he cannot be successful without each piece. Another note I will add is I take my belt/ knife off when doing this as I do not want to cause any pain or discomfort when I’m laying on a horse bareback. As always, please leave any questions or comments below guys! #Sedalia #Colorado #bridlehorse #horsemanship
