Sandy's Way Microfarm -Sprister Family Sandy's Way CSA and Microfarm is a 1/3 acre Certified Naturally Grown market farm. What is a CSA? The most often question we are asked.

The name of this farm Sandy's Way is dedicated to Ebrain "Sandy" Santiago; father, grandfather and friend. This farm, or at least the idea of this farm, started 7 years ago, in a suburban backyard, with seven 4 foot by 4 foot boxes in which we grew our own food. Growing that food became a passion and in 2013 we gave up the suburban backyard and bought a 5 acre ranch just outside Castle Rock, Col

orado. We have been selling pastured chicken eggs to select customers since late 2014.

2015 was the year to put in place our micro-farm infrastructure and test growing conditions on a 5000 sq foot area.

2016 marked the start of our CSA and market garden! The idea is it is a partnership between a farmer and a community of people who value their food. Quality food, that is produced close to home, with natural techniques and care. Food from people you can fellowship with. Basically a customer "subscribes" at the beginning of the year, pays up front and receives quality local food for a certain period of time.

Creating microclimates and protecting crops from pests and unpredictable weather is essential for market gardening. With this low tunnel system from the farm will be able to grow better and more abundant crops for our community. Our farm received an NRCS grant to help purchase enough to cover 16 50 ft beds.

Now if the weather would cooperate and the ground would thaw we could get them all in! Think Spring!

I (the farmers wife) had a goal to help with harvesting this week while the farmer & oldest son were in the mountains... after 5 hours of working I have learned a few things... #1 God is an amazing creator of variety & beauty πŸ’œπŸ’š #2 My husband was created for this (not me) & can grow anything!! πŸ‘ŠπŸ’ͺπŸ’˜ # 3 Our daughter is a funny girl 😜, who sings, thanks the Lord for each bite and will probably always love veggies for life! πŸŽ‰πŸ˜ #4 My favorite to harvest & eat are still tomotoes πŸ€—πŸ˜Ž #5 Cucumbers, squash and green bean harvesters deserve a raise, a kiss, & a BIG thank you. πŸ‘ŠπŸŽ‰That is back breaking work!! #thankafarmer #welivehere #farm2table

So this is what we are dealing with every morning and evening. Counted nearly 25 in total. This time of year the deer are really hungry and they'll do anything to get food!

This was in Lakewood earlier. So far no hail here on the farm just torrential rains. Love the moisture. Hate the worry!

Thanks to some new friends who brought their whole family to work on the farm, we got all 68 beds ready for planting!! All our kids even worked for more than 10 minutes?! Let us know if you want to spend a day in the dirt. We think we will be ready for week 1 of buyers club 2nd week of May. Happy Easter! He is Risen!!
