✨Adoption Success!✨ Rusty (formerly Falcon) was brought into a high-kill Houston shelter as a stray in February 2024. Despite how handsome and wonderful he is, he had no luck being adopted and ended up on the euthanasia list. We were able to save him, and he was immediately adopted when he arrived to Colorado!

His dad recently sent us this update and pictures:
"He's a good 10-15 lbs heavier and he is an incredible dog. I could not have asked for a better dog; he truly is my BFF, everybody loves him and he loves everybody I got very lucky. 🙂"

Rusty was lucky to have met you! Thank you for adopting him and giving him a great life!

Just dropping in to say there are a lot of new faces on our website, like Lobster Roll and Po'Boy here, and many of them are looking for foster homes while they wait to be adopted!

We have another adoption event this Saturday at the Park Meadows PetCo from 10am-1:30pm. We love when fosters take a dog for even a few days before or after an adoption event so we can get more pictures and learn about their personalities!

✨Adoption Success!✨ Jax was turned in as a stray to a high-kill Houston shelter back in March. He made his way to us in April and was quickly adopted!

Here's an update we received a while back from his adopter:
"Jax has settled in and has stolen my heart as well as everyone else's. He’s literally the cutest boy ever. We have definitely had our ups and downs while we have been getting to know each other and while Jax has been getting used to his new life with me. These past months have definitely been a learning curve for both of us, but we are getting there. He sits, can heel, and loves to play fetch!

I am so glad that Jax came into my life and I am very excited for the rest of my time with him!"

Send this to all the chihuahua lovers! 🐶 Our shelter partner in New Mexico asked us if we could take in 8 adult chihuahuas this week. We spent hours coordinating logistics so we could save them all. 5 of the 8 will be waiting to meet you at our adoption event this weekend!

They range in age from 1-5 years and weigh anywhere from 4-9 lbs.

Howdy Pawtner 🤠 My name is Jubilee, and I am a rootin tootin cowgirl looking for a family! After needing an emergency c-section the day she arrived at our rescue and raising her pups, Jubilee is ready to be somebody's baby.

Jubilee is a lovable English Bulldog with a heart as big as her wrinkled smile. She adores people of all ages. This sweet pup is a true gem, with a playful spirit and a gentle soul that will steal your heart.

✨Adoption Success!✨ Leo (formerly Beanie) came to us from a crowded New Mexico shelter back in March. Someone fell in love with him and he was adopted almost immediately! He's been having a blast with his new family.

His family says that he is the sweetest boy ever, and we believe it! Thank you for adopting this handsome guy and giving him a second chance.

✨Adoption Success!✨ We rescued Marty (previously Thicket) from a shelter in New Mexico with her sibling Tundra back in April. She was so tiny and scared! She got adopted in no time and recently received an update from her adopter:

"Hi y’all, Marty AKA Martus AKA Midge AKA Smarty is thriving in her new home. Her coat has come in beautifully, and while it still feels like she’s as little as the day I got her, she’s grown bigger and stronger. She loves to chase rabbits in her new backyard and cuddle up with her favorite humans for bed time afterwards. Her favorite food? STEAK, duh. She’s bougie like that, and can’t wait for her Gotcha-day treat next year.

Thanks for helping me adopt the sweetest, spunkiest baby in the world."

Today's mission: Find Pony a home! 🏠

Pony and his siblings were picked up as strays in Houston, and ended up at the local high-kill shelter. After making their way to Colorado, Pony's siblings were adopted. Now it's his turn!

Pony is a very loving boy. He loves to stay close to his foster mom and take naps on her lap. He is the smallest of his litter! He plays well with his fur siblings, but is also independent. He enjoys playing with toys and is a little beggar for a treat. He is doing well with potty training.

Look who is joining us this Friday all the way from Houston! Meet Smiley! Miss Smiley would love a foster or forever home to land in once she arrives.

Smiley and her puppies were hours away from euthanasia, but luckily we were able to step in to save them. Her puppies will be joining us as well, so stay tuned.

Here's what her Texas foster has to say about her:
"This girl is AMAZING! The sweetest, purest, most loving dog ever! She is sweet and submissive, loves everyone, all dogs, big and small, even mean grumpy senior dogs. She is smart, uses the doggy doors, no food aggression, shown signs of being potty trained, she is your perfect girl. She loves toys and loves to share them."

✨Adoption Success✨ Gideon's life got a lot brighter when his family adopted him in July of 2023! He spent the first years of his life chained up to a trailer, only to end up at a high-kill Houston shelter. He made his way to us in February of 2023 and waited patiently until his family found him. He was Heartworm-positive, but has completed his treatment and is living his best life being spoiled every day!

Here's what his family said on his gotcha day:
"He's the absolute light of our lives! He’s a sweet, derpy, silly, funny guy with the best smile! He’s the most playful guy - always wanting to play with all dogs, big or small. We go to the dog park and hike a lot so he can make lots of friends and explore! He also really loves watching birds, bunnies and neighbors from our balcony - he could sit out there all day! At the end of a long day, we snuggle up on the couch together. We couldn’t imagine life without him! ❤️"

Thank you for giving Gideon's sad story a happy ending. Adoption saves lives!

Today is one of those days at the rescue where we were just hammered with bad news after bad news. 😞 We know there's a lot happening in the world, but can you please consider donating a few bucks our way? Our vet bills are piling up quickly.

Pic 1) Sweet Pea went into the vet today and we found out she has a severe heart murmur. 💔 She's scheduled for an EKG to determine just how bad, and that will run us about $600. After that, we are unsure what her treatment will look like.

Pic 2) Alejandra went into the vet for something unrelated today, only to test positive for Parvo! This is very uncommon for adults dogs, and we didn't see this coming. She is stable for now, but we are still waiting for estimates of what her treatment will cost.

Poor girl survived the streets of Houston, a high-kill shelter, and now on top of her Heartworm treatment, she has to be treated for Parvo, too. Please send healing thoughts her way!

Pic 3) Amber went in to get spayed today, only for the vet to find 6-8 puppies inside her! 🙄 We are rolling our eyes because this has been an almost monthly occurrence this year. She's with a foster now who will see her through her pregnancy and birth, but costs will add up for their care.

We have situations like these behind the scenes that we don't post about all the time. Hospice fosters, emergency surgeries, sick puppies, and more. Please consider a tax-deductible donation to our rescue today so we can help these sweet girls and many more!

✨Adoption success!✨ We rescued Snickerdoodle (now named Nyla) with her mom, Cookie, and siblings Spice, Oreo, Fortune, and Sugar in April of 2023. They came to us from Houston when the kittens were only a couple of weeks old (check out the last pic of baby Nyla).

This cutie was adopted in June of 2023, and we recently received this update from her family:
"She has been the most wonderful addition to our family and we are so thankful for your rescue for bringing her to us. Thank you all for your hard work and rescue efforts!"

Murse has been patiently waiting for a new home since April 2024, and we'd love to help her find a family! She is a 7 year old domestic shorthair who was adopted from us as a kitten, but was surrendered to us when her owner passed away.

Notes from her foster:
"Murse is such a sweet girl who wants nothing but love! She’s very talkative, a professional baker (always making muffins), and a very laid back adult cat. She likes to sleep next to you on the couch but also has spurts of energy when she’s very playful, especially with catnip toys. She does all the cat things - sitting in suitcases & boxes, sunbathing in a spot by the window, and SPRINTS at the sound of meal time!

She nicely coexists with my dogs. I say “coexist” because she doesn’t really seem to care for them either way, but definitely appreciates that my dogs don’t come on too strong and give her space. She’s had the scarring on her eye since she was a kitten and it doesn’t seem to bother her."

✨Adoption Success!✨ Tiger, now known as Miles, came to us from a high-kill shelter in Houston in May of 2023. It took a few months, but Miles was adopted in September and has been living his best life since!

This sweet senior Great Dane was Heartworm-positive when he came to us, but the great news is he is now Heartworm-free!

We recently received this update from his adopter:
"Amazing news and update about Miles, who I adopted back in September 2023. I took him to my vet to get his retest for heartworm and they sent out an in-depth blood test and he came back negative for heartworm antigens and microfilaria knotts test!

Miles is doing AMAZING! His transformation since I adopted him in September has been incredible! He has gone from 91lbs to a perfectly healthy 151lbs! He is a super senior great dane who kicked heartworm’s butt and now acts like a young dog! He loves running, hiking, snuggling with my cats and foster kittens, and he loves to pretend like he is a lap dog😅 He is truly a gentle giant and is a celebrity in our neighborhood.

What a blessing he has been! THANK YOU 4p4l for giving the most overlooked animals a chance at life. Most rescues wouldn’t pull a super senior great dane who was also heartworm positive and bring him to Colorado. I hope Miles is a testament for others to consider adopting a senior dog (or cat) or a pet who may have some medical needs. They are so loving and will change your life more than you will change theirs!

So THANK YOU for believing in my boy, he has been the greatest gift to our family!"
