Meet Sheri!

Sheri has been at Oak Creek Small Animal Clinic since October of 2020.

Sheri was born and raised in Phoenix Arizona and moved to Cottonwood Arizona in 2006 to escape the heat! Sheri has been in the veterinary field for 17 years now. She started as a kennel helper in Phoenix. At the same time she was going to school at night to become a vet assistant. Now she is a vet assistant and absolutely loves the job title.

Some of Sheri’s favorite hobbies are hanging out with her husband and 5 kids, reading, and watching movies. Her favorite author is Ruth Ware and her favorite movie is “The Help''. She loves to snuggle up with her dogs and read some of Ruth’s books.

Vaccinations are an essential part of keeping your pet safe from illness. So, veterinarians throughout the U.S. recognize August as National Pet Immunization Awareness Month to educate pet parents on the importance of vaccinations for their pets. Vaccines prepare your pet's immune system to fight disease-causing agents by stimulating the production of antibodies that identify and destroy disease-causing organisms that enter your pet's body. This month's blog will cover the top 10 reasons to vaccinate your pet. Let's get started: https://oakcreekclinic.com/blog/?p=top-10-reasons-to-vaccinate-your-pet-benefits-risks-and-legal-requirements

Veterinary facilities are increasingly using these partially-enclosed, temperature-controlled treadmills, also called aquatic treadmills, to customize a healing program for your pet’s size and injury or arthritis. Water has the power to soften your pet’s arthritic or damaged tissues, hug your pet with warmth, challenge your pet’s heart and lungs with water’s natural resistance. Meanwhile, this new hydrotherapy reduces the impact on your pooch’s injured and aging body.

Meet Dr. Kinney!

Dr. Kinney grew up in Phoenix, the youngest of four children, and at the age of four informed her mother, after visiting her own doctor, that she would be the first doctor for animals. It was all success from that point forward. Determined to excel amongst her older siblings, she skipped third grade and had barely turned 17 when she started attending college at the University of Arizona. She then completed her undergraduate requirements in three years and traveled to Washington State University where she earned her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine. She stayed an additional year after her doctorate to complete an internship in anesthesiology where she studied this subject at a deep level and had an opportunity to work with a variety of species.

July is National Lost Pet Prevention Month.

National Lost Pet Prevention Month was launched by PetHub in 2014. It was designated in July because the country sees a huge increase in lost pets due to Independence Day celebrations and summer vacation plans during this month.

Did you know that the 4th of July weekend is the busiest for shelters due to the number of lost pets they have to take in?

As a matter of fact, Mark Jakubczak, Founder of PetAmberAlert™, says that the nationwide statistics show that only 14% of lost pets are properly identified and returned to their owners. And about 30-60% are sadly put down because they cannot be properly identified.

Take proper precautions to ensure your your pet doesn't get lost, and has a way back home if they do.

We recently had our clinic "field trip" at Out of Africa Wildlife Park!

We had a great day, it was hot but fun! We did a SuperMog safari, fed giraffes, met Jericho—the rhinoceros, and more!

It’s always great to spend time together outside of the clinic.

Special thanks to Rachael & Chloe for making the trip special for us with their knowledge of the park.
