North Cascade Farm Animal Rescue

North Cascade Farm Animal Rescue Our mission is to provide sanctuary for farm animals who's lives are in danger. We provide a safe, loving place to bring them.

Starving, not receiving proper care either intentionally, or have owners that can no longer care for them for whatever reason. The cost of caring for our current animals in sanctuary and their basic needs per month (not including medical care) is around $1,500 per month. This puts a strain on our budget for sure but making a positive impact in this world has made it worth it! We would however love

some help if anyone is able and likes our cause. Either through monetary donations to help with vet bills, hay, feed and continuing care of these deserving animals. Or, even if that isn't possible rounding up used horse supplies from people who no longer need them, old blankets for the pigs, a bag of feed, straw bedding, unused fruits and veggies from the garden, you name it there are many ways to help these animals to never be without what they need ever again. If you care about animals and want to help us provide a safe caring place for them please contact us. Or please just be here to enjoy cute and funny pictures of the animals with us.

Mama llama had never known positive human touch in her “20” years before living here.
She’d only been used for her service as a sheep guardian with no care for her own basic needs like love, shearing, and hoof trims. We spent a few hours tonight getting her and Naomi up to the barn for a trim and a good look over to make sure all was well. They’ve never been a fan of our presence but are continuing to learn that it’s ok to trust us and that we aren’t going to hurt them in any way. I was so excited that I got to brush out Mama's hair for the first time and she kinda liked it… or at least didn’t leave. The feeling I get from these animals finally understanding we won’t hurt them and they can accept our love is so heartwarming. It took me about an hour to brush out one side of the hair that's going to get clipped soon and that's ok it was worth every second! If I'm lucky she will enjoy me doing the other side tomorrow 💕

Looks like my prediction was 👍 Ed & Cinnamon. The only thing they argue about is who gets which side of the bed.
All the pigs are blowing their coats for summer bod time, that’s why the hair is looking a little patchy. They will all be coated in sunblock (mud) for the coming warm months.

05/21/2022

I couldn’t believe this! The pigs are higher than cows in the herd. I was just sitting here petting Angel, Alley came and said it was her turn so Angel had to get up. She started licking Alley’s wound she got from the new pig introductions.
So cool to see these animals so willing to care for and be accepting of anyone!

I’ve been cleaning Alleys wound daily and it’s looking much better. We’ve learned no matter how long pigs are introduced on opposite sides of a fence they’ll fight when they can to determine hierarchy. Except Cinnamon and Pearl. They communicated to the new guys they had no interest in challenging for a specific spot in the herd and were quite content where they are. Everyone else I’ve been cleaning shoulder and ear owies from tusks.

So far my predictions have been 👍 Jack has become quite the snuggler and sometimes gives little bursts of 💋’s. Ed ran from us the first couple days but now he knows he’s home and safe 😀 he’s the first one to come say hello. Mick and Jack are buddies so Ed is kinda the third wheel, hopefully once all the pigs can be together he’ll find a buddy of his own (I’m thinking Cinnamon) but we’ll fill the gap with snuggles until then. Mick loves scratches on the back, is very observant and has such a sweet face. He’s still a bit nervous to lay down for belly rubs and doesn’t stick around very long. Who knows what he’s had to endure so we’ll just keep being there for him and earning trust I have no doubt he’ll be right there with Jack in no time❤️

Julia & Kim -

Brooks, Dunn, Angel & Trudy are so much more comfortable today because of you! We thank you so much for your compassion toward animals and helping us to keep them healthy. Animals can get pink eye and other nasty infections if they don’t get protection from flies.

04/30/2022

As always the animals can count on Kim! 2 more cows will get face fly relief because of you thank you 😊❤️

A generous supporter donated and we were able to get Brooks a much needed fly mask but Trudy, Angel and Dunn are standing just out of view like 😣 where’s ours?! Thought I’d check and see if anyone here wanted to help us get them one? This particular one was $31 on Amazon, I haven’t been able to find any locally. We just had the vet out 2 weeks ago to give everyone a check up and vaccinations costing $1500 and the farrier coming in a week for $300 along with feed and hay costs to keep up with so any little bit helps from someone who’s able, to keep all these animals safe, happy and healthy with no annoying flies in their 👀

Just a little cow and kid break Easter morning. No cows were annoyed during this break but if they had been Veanna would have respected that 😊

These boys were helped to safety by a local rescue who then placed them in foster care to await their forever home. They'd been “living” crammed into a filthy pen with so many other pigs (who also need homes) where they were starving, mistreated, in-breeding, mangy and sick. They were nervous coming to another new place but transporting them went smooth and the three of them were snoring in the trailer when we got them home. By the end of the day they had settled in pretty well and were curious to explore. Ed has already had the happy zoomies and seems very playful, I think Jack will be the sweet anytime snuggler, and Mick will be the wise old fella that keeps everyone in line but, we’ll see as their personalities come out 👍😉💕

These three lil pigs have come out of a horrible situation and made their way here to join the piggle herd ❤️

Sequoia. This wild girl has been working with us on picking up her feet, is doing awesome and scheduled to get her first official hooftrim today! It may not sound like a big deal but when she started with us as a completely unhandled captured wild horse it is. Although we’d prefer she was still running free with her herd we’re so thankful she found her way to us.

We’ve been busy working on fences AGAIN! Brooks took to the supervisory role quite well, thoroughly inspected all the materials and handiwork then gave Phil a big kiss after a job well done! What he didn’t know… that very fence now stops him from his adventures in the llama neck of the woods where he had a great time annihilating their shelter, eating their food and pooping everywhere 🤣

Kim and Cara us and these boys appreciate you!
The 45 dollar donation we received from you two helped to give these boys and ALL the animals a clean dry bed for tonight. This is one of their favorite things ❤️
It seems to be the equivalent of us taking a long soak in the tub followed by crawling into freshly washed, warm sheets!

01/18/2022

Thank you Cara Ozaki! We received your donation for the animals. we'll put it to good use! ❤️💚

These mini horse blankets were generously donated. They have been a great benefit the past couple days not only to the minis but the goats and llamas as well! I may even try a couple on the pigs if they’ll allow it 🥶

Kim Adams & Family, us, and the animals thank you so much for your support! With 4 cows, 6 pigs, 4 goats, and 6 horses all sharing one sacrifice area the mud is ankle deep at the least in most areas. Thanks to your generosity and love of animals the horses and goats can get some much-needed hay nets and get their hay up off the ground. This will also help with less waste.❤️🙏 thank you and we appreciate you so much for being one of our biggest supporters!

P.S. The hay nets were buy 2 get 1 free!!! So we were able to get 6 for the price of 4 YAY!

12/20/2021

Sorry we haven’t had much time to post lately! Been busy fighting the mud, wind and flooding damage. I’ve still been taking pics and videos of the animals though and will bombard you all with these cuties when I can ❤️

11/18/2021

Hope everyone made it through the flood safe! I’ve heard many have had their homes, cars and so on ruined 😞
We got all the animals in a safe area which was most important to us but I’m bummed we lost almost all the fencing we put up this summer.
was a lot of work and pennies pinched to get it up.
With all the animals in the same area now it’s gonna be a messy and muddy winter!

😂 this would have been way out of my thinking a few years ago but, now seems totally reasonable!

We’d like to thank Mike & Michelle Hanson for the generous donation to the animals. This came in a time of great need!
Our last vet bill was $700 to get some of the horses teeth floated so this will help to get that paid off.
We appreciate you so much for supporting what we do to keep these animals safe, healthy and with full bellies ❤️💚
We’d also like to thank you for helping to keep our human family in warm boots this winter and treats in our bellies as well 😂

Been a busy couple of weeks! The farrier has been here to keep everyone’s feet in tip top shape.
The vet was out last week to do teeth floats on a few of the horses and answer my many questions 🥴
we also got a huge truckload of shavings from Kaaland to keep the cows clean and dry. What an excellent company! They were very friendly and really quick to deliver highly recommend!

With all of these necessary care expenses for the animals we’ve found ourselves in need of a few things so I thought I’d make a list here in case anyone is able to help.

Mazuri Mini Pig Mature Maintenance- 12 bags per month @ $19.99 per bag

Low Carb Senior Horse Feed 8 bags per month @ $40 per bag

Haystack Special Blend 8 bags per month @ $14 per bag

Mazuri Alpaca & Llama 2 bags per month @ $30 per bag

Softwood bedding pellets 10 per week @ $7 per bag

Straw bales 2 per week @ $10 each

Local horse hay

We are learning how to get through the process of soon becoming a recognized 501c3 non profit rescue service. We hope to be the caring refuge so many animals out there are waiting for but, we can’t accomplish this alone. If you like what we’re doing and want to help in any way please contact us. We’d love to hear from others who enjoy what we do!
