We have been making some improvements around here. We put up a new sign by Alger Cain Lake road and updated the fence outside the building. The cats seem to enjoy a bit more privacy the fence provides and the birds have become more active outside their windows.

It has been a busy summer! We have loved caring for all of your cats while you explore this incredible world we live in. We have some new foster kittens many of you have had the privilege to meet, Chappel and her 2 little babies. Chappel gave birth shortly after arriving at the Humane Society of Skagit Valley to a single little baby and the next day an orphan baby came in and she was happy to adopt it. They have been growing like weeds and are already showing personalities.

The Fourth of July is the holiday in which the most American pets will go missing. Please be sure to secure your pet in the house long before the festivities start. Give them a quiet room if possible, consider a sound machine to help cover some of the noise. Calming diffusers should be set up several days before and continued well after the last of the fireworks. If you need medications contact your vet ASAP they usually run out before the holiday so the sooner the better. I wish everyone a safe and happy Fourth of July!

Keep the spark in your 4th of July celebrations, but keep them away from pets! The fireworks are beautiful, but pets are often scared by loud noises. Use these great tips from us and ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center to ensure your pets are comfortable throughout the day! Send this to other pet owners to help keep their pets safe. This is always a good idea. Animals are terrified of fireworks and they do not understand what is happening. More animals go missing on the Fourth of July than any other day of the year. I can only imagine what the wild animals think. I am happy to see drone shows are becoming more popular, I can only hope we do better in the future.

UGH...the fireworks have already started in parts of the county. Such a stressful time for domestic, wild and farm animals.

We have adorable little fosters again! These guys are from 3 separate litters but all need a little help to get through the baby phase. The 2 black ones came from a feral mom so they are a bit nervous and are learning we are ok people. The other 3 were bottle baby fosters who just need to finish out their last few weeks before they can be adopted. We are smitten!
