National Take Your Cat to the Vet Day reminds us how much we love our friendly, furry, kitty companions.

In fact, we love them even if they’re not that furry — or friendly, for that matter! And since we’re responsible for their health and wellbeing (they can’t very well make an appointment to see the vet on their own,) we appreciate August 22 a lot.

Did You Know? 58% of caregivers report that their cat hates going to the veterinarian. Acclimating your cat to their carrier can reduce stress for your cat during their veterinary visit.

JUNE IS NATIONAL ADOPT A CAT MONTH!

Meow! National Adopt a Cat Month in June encourages us to remember our feline friends when considering a new pet. Also known as Adopt a Shelter Cat Month, it's a time to learn the cat-friendly ways to prepare your home for a new fur baby, how to know which cat is best for you and how to care for your feline friend.

Shelters are full of cats and kittens in needs of forever homes. These feline fur babies come with as many personalities as they do colors and coats. They curl into our hearts and will just as quickly remind us they decide who they love. Whether they were born in the shelter, surrendered or abandoned, 3.4 million find their way to a shelter.

When considering the adoption of a furbaby, take your time. Each shelter animal will touch your heart, so be sure to find a life-long love.

What Is Microchipping?

Cat and dog microchipping is a relatively affordable and minimally invasive procedure that provides pets with permanent identification. Unlike a tattoo that can become illegible or a tag that can get lost, a microchip stays in place and remains functional throughout your pet’s entire life.

We use a syringe to inject a tiny computer chip into the area between the patient’s shoulder blades during the procedure.

Some other things you should know about pet microchips and the microchipping procedure are:
The chip is about the same size as a grain of rice.
The entire process takes just a few moments and feels similar to receiving a vaccination.

There is no need for sedation or anesthetic, and your pet can resume their normal daily activities as soon as they leave the office.
During your pet’s appointment, we will help you register their microchip. Every chip has a unique identification number linked to an online account. Once registered, this account contains vital information, including your pet’s name, your name, phone number, etc. Make sure to update this account if you move or get a new phone number. Your pet’s rescuer can only reach you if they have accurate contact information.

Chip Your Pet Month is celebrated every May and is meant to encourage microchipping so pets can be reunited with their owners if they go missing, according to National Today. About 10 million pets are lost in America every year, according to Animal Humane.

🎉🐾 Guess who turned 19 yesterday? Our beloved Tootie! 🎂✨ We went all out to ensure her special day was nothing short of purr-fect! From a Happy Birthday banner to custom food bowls and even a tiny crown fit for a queen, Tootie was showered with love and attention. We even decorated her door with a festive cover to mark the occasion! 🚪🎈 And of course, what's a birthday without a round of the Happy Birthday song? 🎶

Tootie holds a special place in our hearts, always ready to dish out cuddles and affection when we need it most. And hey, if you want a little feline love, you might have to pay the "Churu fee," but trust us, it's totally worth it! 😻 We can't resist spoiling her rotten, from luxurious heated beds to fancy water fountains and even mini mechanical fireplaces and aquariums. 🛏️💧🔥🐟

With all the love and care we give her, we fully expect Tootie to live forever, blessing us with countless more birthdays to celebrate together! 🎉🐱💕
