New Year, New Adventures with Your Pup! ๐Ÿพ

Start the year off right with resolutions inspired by our furry friends:

๐ŸŒž Get Outside More โ€“ Boost your mood and immunity with some sunshine! A daily walk or a new hiking adventure with your pup can work wonders for both of you.

๐ŸŽพ Play More โ€“ Whether itโ€™s a game of fetch or tug-of-war, playtime burns energy and builds bonds. Bonus: itโ€™s great for your mental health too!

๐Ÿง  Teach New Tricks โ€“ Keep those tails wagging and minds sharp by teaching your dog (and yourself) something new. Training is fun and healthy for everyone.

๐Ÿ–Œ๏ธ Brush It Off โ€“ Grooming keeps your pupโ€™s coat shiny and your stress levels down. Plus, itโ€™s a perfect time for bonding.

๐Ÿ‘‹ Meet New Friends โ€“ Join a doggy meetup or playgroup! Socializing is as important for you as it is for your dog.

๐Ÿ˜ด Sleep More โ€“ Follow your pupโ€™s lead and prioritize rest. Cuddles and quiet time together can help you both unwind.

๐Ÿ’– Let It Go โ€“ Dogs donโ€™t hold grudges, and we shouldnโ€™t either. Embrace their forgiving nature and start fresh every day.

Letโ€™s make 2025 pawsome! Which resolution will you try first? ๐Ÿ•โœจ

Keep Your Pets Safe This New Yearโ€™s Eve! ๐ŸŽ†๐Ÿพ

New Yearโ€™s Eve can be stressful for our furry friends. Hereโ€™s how to keep them safe and happy:

๐ŸŽ‡ Secure Their Space โ€“ Fireworks can spook pets. Keep them indoors in a comfy, secure room where they feel safe.

๐Ÿ”Š Soothing Sounds โ€“ Play calming music or white noise to help drown out the noise of fireworks and celebrations.

๐ŸŽ‰ Avoid Party Hazards โ€“ Keep party foods, drinks, and decorations out of reach. Chocolate, alcohol, and even streamers can be dangerous.

๐Ÿ†” Check Their ID โ€“ Make sure your petโ€™s microchip and tags are up to date in case they get startled and run off.

๐Ÿ• Leash Up Outdoors โ€“ If you need to take your pet outside, always use a leash, even in your yard, to prevent them from bolting.

๐ŸŒŸ Skip the Sparklers โ€“ Sparklers and fireworks can burn curious noses and paws. Keep pets far from the action.

โค๏ธ Comfort Them โ€“ Offer cuddles, blankets, or their favorite toy to help them feel secure.

๐Ÿพ Plan Ahead โ€“ If your pet gets extremely anxious, consult your vet about calming aids or medications before the big night.

Letโ€™s ring in the New Year with happy and safe pets! ๐Ÿถ๐Ÿฑโœจ

A Heartfelt Thank You to an Amazing Greyhound! ๐Ÿพโค๏ธ

We wanted to take a moment to express our gratitude to "Mary", a wonderful greyhound who recently donated blood here at Coastal Veterinary. Mary was an absolute pro throughout the process, showing no signs of stress or discomfort as she gave generously of herself to help others.

Thank You, Mary! ๐Ÿพ Your selflessness and calm demeanor made the process a breeze, and we're so grateful to have had the opportunity to work with you. Your contribution will help make a difference in the lives of other dogs, and for that, we are truly thankful.

For those who are interested in participating in future donations, we are putting a list together. You can email us your interest at [email protected] and we will add you to the list.

Meet Otis, one of our thoughtful patients who donated blood today to support another individual's care. But have you ever wondered what happens next? In simple terms, the donated blood is processed to extract valuable components, which are then used to create life-enhancing treatments, such as specialized eye drops. Thanks to Otis, someone's life just got a little brighter!

As we prepare to gather with loved ones and enjoy a delicious feast next week, let's not forget about the furriest members of our families! To ensure a safe and joyful Thanksgiving for both you and your pets, here are some essential tips:

10 Thanksgiving Safety Tips for Pet Owners:

1. Keep the Feast Out of Reach: Secure your Thanksgiving meal and all leftovers in pet-inaccessible areas to avoid food poisoning and unwanted weight gain.

2. Beware of Toxic Foods: Remember, chocolate, grapes, raisins, onions, garlic, and xylitol (found in sugar-free products) are toxic to pets. Keep them strictly off-limits.

3. No Bones, Please: While it might be tempting, avoid giving your pet turkey or chicken bones, as they can cause obstruction or splintering.

4. Watch for Signs of Stress: With increased noise and visitors, some pets may feel anxious. Provide a quiet space for them to retreat if needed, and consider calming aids if your pet suffers from stress.

5. Maintain Your Petโ€™s Routine: Stick to regular feeding times and exercise routines to provide a sense of comfort and stability amidst the holiday chaos.

6. Secure the Trash: Ensure all trash cans are tightly sealed and out of your petโ€™s reach to prevent ingestion of harmful substances.

7. Inform Your Guests: Remind visitors not to feed your pets without your permission, to avoid any potential health issues.

8. Be Prepared for Emergencies: Have this information handy just in case: Pet's ER in Salisbury, MD. Address: 402 Punkin Ct, Salisbury, MD 21804 Phone: (410) 543-8400 or Delmarva Animal Emergency Center Address: 1482 E Lebanon Rd, Dover, DE 19901 Phone: (302) 697-0850.

9. Prevent Escapes: With more people entering and exiting your home, double-check that all doors and gates are securely closed to prevent your pet from slipping out.

10. Show Love, Not Food: While it's tempting to spoil your pets on holidays, remember that love, play, and attention are just as rewarding and much healthier than treats.
