Started working on our SLO ( solid lift filter ) for the pond. Yes it is late in the season but I have plans for the spring to use the pond to water the Straw Bale Gardens. We just got back from a cruise and I had time to think about long-term plans. So far, after 5 hours Sunday & a few today we have a solution that works. Next spring, let's see how we can pipe this into the gardens? The 40g unit in its picture dumps directly into the french drain & sump system that then dumps into the drainage under our new Straw Bale Gardens...i think this will be a BIG WIN for next year's harvest! 😜

8.27.2022 Catch-up post for Louaquaponics~ it has been a year for sure. We have not been as active on the AP trail this year as we wanted to be but we did have a lot of fun and forward-moving action this year with many other projects. Our Tilapia continue to thrive, today we even found a few fries in the filters. We are looking forward to our AP adventures over the fall, winter and spring times.

End of the 5th-week cull! We have to get the next Germination cycle in place. Not bad at all! Estimated quarter-pound weight per x12 = 3 LBS of crop. Usually, we wait about 6-8 weeks to get 3/4LBS per head but we need to move the next grow into place. We downsized to one 4x8 DWC bed this year instead of 3 beds. The Ducks and Chickens will be happy along with lowering our produce bill. The next 18 Peleted Johnny Seeds are set to germinate and we will do this rotation for the next 12 months to help lower cost.

As a note: Culling of the massive K&I Donated Talipia is coming soon, may end up being July but it will happen, they are monsters! Have a safe and happy start to all of our new years!

Sorry for the slow post, we have been busy with the new backyard, COVID & everything that comes with it. The wicking beds are still killing the tomatoes along with the peppers. The fish K&I Organics rehomed have been a hand full :) and have taken to our system with our pleasant surprise. We have seen a huge growth in the fish and the plants over the last few months and hope to capitalize on it. Here are some pics of what has been going on. We did find some great resources on Blue Barrels for the up and coming filtration and system upgrade too.

Thank you K&I Organics for allowing us to rehome your Talipia. They will be very well taken care of. We will be doing an inspection with videos over the next week to share the real sizes of these monsters you have raised! It looks to be right around 40 fish total this should raise us to about 90fish total in all 3 of our systems. w00t .

Got some POC Choy this week along with cherry tomatoes, snap peas and some peppers. Lights provided by New Earth Organics and Hydroponics we will be seeding some Read and Green Leaf this week for next month's harvest! Also using Uncle Jim's Worm Farm for our worms!!
