A Helmeted Hornbill male delivers figs to his mate sealed in her nest cavity
A Helmeted Hornbill male delivers figs to his mate sealed in her nest cavity….. I want to extend a huge congratulations to my good friend Indonesian conservationist Yoki Hadiprakarsa @hornbillman of Rangkong Indonesia for being honored with the prestigious Whitley Award for Nature! Yoki and his team have been working tirelessly to bring the story of the critically endangered Helmeted Hornbill to light, and work with local communities to develop ecotourism as an alternative to poaching.
A male Eastern Bluebird delivers food to chicks in the nest. For the photographers in the group who may be interested, this is a little example of how I shoot stills and motion on my RED Helium camera. With a fast moving subject like this, you can’t get smooth looking video, and sharp stills at the same time (but you can change settings to do both). In the first visit on the video, I’m shooting for motion, at 75fps with a 1/150 sec shutter speed, so the motion blur in the wings makes the footage look smooth.

There will always be something to learn, something to admire, something to be grateful for, stick to that ‘something’ it will make the journey more bearable 🙌🏼🌸 .
A true conservation hero playing mother to rescued baby chimps - all of whom had their mothers killed so they could be sold into the exotic pet trade 😳 No wildlife deserves this but the lucky few get a second chance ❤️ Say NO to chimps as pets. So proud to support this amazing team 💪🏻
It is undeniable - giraffes have an unmistakable, awkward charm about them. However, these megaherbivores can also be quite brutal - this is a good example of just that. In intense bouts, male giraffes compete for dominance by steadying their legs and swinging their necks to deliver sledgehammer blows to each other - these fights are very serious, with the giraffes repeatedly slamming their necks against one another with the intent to cause real injury.
