My friend Evelyn Lowell Wool has several goats for sale; recorded grades and also Nubians.

We have decided to focus our herd on purebred Nubians and have made the difficult decision to sell our very productive home-bred Recorded Grade Nubians. I attended my first goat show with my parents & Leslie Werhane Averill when I was about 10 years old. We soon purchased registered Nubians to breed a couple NOA’s to and thus began our registered herd of Nubian dairy goats. Thanks to Leslie, I have been hooked on showing ever since.

For 25 years breeding and showing Nubians has been my absolute passion. To my “regular” friends, this is weird, but to those of you who know and love this hobbie as I do, you get it!

It is with extreme (but well thought out) sadness that I announce I have sold all but 4 of my animals (which are up for sale) and will be taking a break to focus on my family. This is one of the hardest & most gut-wrenching decisions of my life, but I know it’s the right one. I plan to get back in once I’ve got a barn of my own, and the means to manage them myself.

I want to thank Joan & Dave Carlson, and also Charles Hickerson, for the years they kept me in the game and for loving & caring for my animals as if they were their own. Joan, Dave…you gave me the best 2 years of my show career. I can never thank you enough. And to my mentors & friends, Paul Fox, Julie Matthys and soooo many others, THANK YOU for your time, your friendship and your commitment to this breed we love so much.

I especially thank my Mom & Donald for literally doing everything & paying for everything for over 20 years so I could enjoy this awesome hobby & these beautiful animals. I love y’all so much.

I could go on & on with whom to thank, but just know I love and appreciate each and every one of you that have been a part of this journey. I will still be attending shows & helping friends, but will not be handling my own animals. My goal is to get back into this in around 5 years, so I’ll be back!!! My girls are in GREAT HANDS with their new buyers and chances are you’ll see me showing them in the near future.

I love you all…it’s not goodbye, it’s see you later!!!

PS - I am not selling my tank. Gonna hang onto these frozen boys so when I start back I’m off to a great start!

It’s time this handsome boy blesses another herd. I absolutely love him & the kids he has produced. They all have excellent feet & legs, breed character & depth of body. Two of his daughters have been Best Jr Doe in Show.
I haven’t freshened any daughters yet but I expect they will be lovely.

I have put this off about as long as I can….

It is a rare treat when a buck comes into your life that changes the trajectory of your herd, and in 25 years of having & breeding Nubians, Thunderbird was the first and only to do that.

He was sweet, gentle, fun, playful, a big puppy dog of a buck that anyone could handle. His daughters are consistent over many dams…he is, was, special.

We (myself & Morgen Star Farm) lost Thunderbird last Thursday to a nasty bout with pneumonia. I can’t thank Joan & Dave Carlson enough for how hard they fought for him, and for the years of excellent care they gave him.

This loss hurts. He leaves behind 3 pending champion daughters and several with dry legs & BIS’s. I can only hope his daughters continue to shine in the show ring.

So if you have his kids, or his semen, thank your lucky stars bc he is & will always be, special.

Rest In Peace, *B Woest-Hoeve TS Thunderbird. It was a honor to have owned & loved you. I will miss your stinky hugs.

Professional pictures of the senior girls.

CH (pending) Woest-Hoeve IE Egret placed 6th in the 5/6 yo class.

Her daughter, CH (pending) Frog Flat Munnin’s Message (owned by Morgen Star Farm) placed 13th in the 3yo class (out of 32 entries).

Together, these girls placed 3rd in Dam & Daughter!!!

Then there’s my lovely CH (pending) Frog Flat Ladybird who placed 3rd in the 4yo class. She was relieved of milk after her class so not full enough for a rear udder picture, though I have several stand & ring pictures of it.

So happy with these pictures and these girls. Still riding this National Show high!!!

A little late posting but here are my day 2 results from the NCDGBA Spring Show. I only showed 1 Senior & 2 dry yearlings:

Dry yearling Frog Flat TB Skylark was Jr Grand Champion - Skylark is lovingly called Buick by her goat Papa, Dave Carlson bc of her size & will to eat. She and her sister Turtledove are crazy big.

Dry yearling Frog Flat LZ Dancing Days placed 3rd & 4th in the 3 rings, she’s very correct just a little too immature to compete yet.

4yo, 3rd freshener Frog Flat Zip’s McKenna was Reserve Senior Champion behind the beautiful Morgen Star Moana. I have loved McKenna since her birth, but in trying to keep my numbers down I sold her to my dear friend Amber Holcomb who is building her show herd. Two of McKenna’s doe kids remain in the herd.

Special shout-out to the NCDGBA for putting on another well run, fun show. This show is my favorite of the year & it’s bc of you guys! Thank you to all the judges for your time & wisdom.

It’s been a great day at my favorite show of the year.

Woest-Hoeve IE Egret received her 3rd & final leg today, earning her permanent championship in ring 2 (she was Reserve CH in ring 1 behind the beautiful Morgen Star AB Jupiter Mhysa). She received an honorable mention for BIS.

Frog Flat TBC Jitterbug was JrGCH & BJDIS in ring 1. This was her first time off the farm. You can tell she has showing in her veins bc she held that head high & chewed her cud while being shown…she is a showgirl for sure.

Next stop, Nationals!!!
