Schedule your dogs food and water instead of leaving it out at all times. It’s healthier for your dog and give you and your dog structure for anticipating potty times.

Here is some place work with my girl Diamond.
Training tip Tuesday: Attentiveness is next to godliness. The reason we go through our program the way we do is to create a dog who chooses to work with you. It's much easier to have a dog who wants to be near you and understands heel position than a dog you have to constantly force into it. We are teaching the dog what is correct, not just punishing when they're wrong. That's why, as you can see in this video, we create a dog who is attentive and close on a 15-foot line before we even start work on a normal 6-foot lead.
Interested in putting some titles to your dog's name? It's easier than you might think. You can earn a title for your dog without even leaving your street! The Virtual Home Manners Adult Title (VHMA) allows you to show off what a piece of cake your dog is to live with. You film your dog doing ten activities at your home, such as placing quietly for a minute, waiting patiently for dinner, and reacting politely to someone knocking at the door. You can check the AKC website for the list of items, film them and upload them to YouTube, then email us the link! Ashley is a certified AKC evaluator and can award you the title if your dog passes. This video shows Jesper doing item no. 6: reacting politely to someone at the door. If you need any help getting started on this title, just let us know, we'd be more than happy to walk you through it.
Training tip Tuesday! Proof your stays and your heels with all kinds of distractions. This is a quasi-"tunnel of love". Watson and Poe used to be very dog-reactive and can now reliably hold a stand-stay even while Hazel heels between them. Hazel does really well here, too, by ignoring these giant dogs she's walking between!
Working dog Wednesday with a highlight on why you should teach a controlled recall. And if your dog DOES launch himself into your stomach, don't yell "OOMF" because the judge will take off points. This round still earned him his Companion Dog title (novice obedience). If you want to learn more about competitive obedience, check out our blog post at the link below. If you'd like to get started, let us know, we can help you get ring-ready!

It's training tip Tuesday! As you work your way through a training program, the behaviors you're working on get more and more complex. But that doesn't mean you should stop working on the basics! While practicing things like down, stay, and recall, make sure you are properly practicing heel as well. Your dog is always learning, and if they're learning that you are inconsistent, they'll become inconsistent, too.
Some Tuesday training. This is Kiba doing paper plate recall with Shaun. Paper plate recall is a fun exercise that gets the dog excited about leaving you and just as excited about coming back! There are times that you might need to send your dog to something (a dog bed, a crate, or a bird in a lake) without going with them. This helps teach that confidence, plus they have just as much fun coming back!
Having a dog that reliably obeys is reassuring. In order to get there, though, a lot of work has to go in. Lou is one of our hybrid program dogs, which means her owners come for a lesson once per week and she joins us for day training twice per week. Her owners have put in the work and so have we, and Lou has become a new and improved version of her sweet self. Just watch her take advantage of this sit-stay to bask in the sun and watch the birds.
Trained dogs have more fun!
We are so proud of all of the hard work Cory had put into her dogs! Here she is with @my.dear.doctor (Watson) in Lowes.

Previously, Watson couldn't have made it through the parking lot without panicking and barking at everyone and everything. Now he's walking through stores like a champ with such nice relaxed body language. He even ignored a dog that stared him down at the end of a leash in the store. #traineddogshavemorefun #hardworkpaysoffs #putinthework

What is your favorite memory from Limitless Canines?
Look at little Piper showing off her recall in Michaels with a dog in front of her as a distraction! We are so proud of how far she has come in her training!
This is one of our favorite games to help work on teaching dogs to come when called.
It almost seems counterintuitive to send a dog away from you just to tell it to come back but, it's a fantastic way to build enthusiasm with the recall command.

🐕 how true is this?!
