OLD MAN Creek AKK Breeder of Alaskan Klee Kai

There is a dog in need of a new home... Here are some details. My wife and I are originally from the Western PA area. I’m from Worthington (a couple minutes from Butler, PA) and my wife was from Latrobe, PA. We relocated to Reading, PA when my wife got a job out here with the local university.

The timeline is perfectly fine. We will be heading on Vacation in OBX on 08/26; We’re boarding Stirling at our local PetHotel like we always do. When we return, we’ll be putting our house up for sale and having our 1st Open House on Sept. 17th. It could sell in a couple days, or a couple months, lol. Never know in this economy. But I want us to be prepared just in case.

Background on Stirling: She was born November 2013. She’s been with us since January 2014. She’s grown up with me and my wife, and our 2 little girls. We recently had our 1st boy this past March. Stirling is very affectionate towards all of my children, as well as my wife and I.

She’s been socialized as much as we could in the past 10 years. I travel a lot for work, so she would be in Doggie Day Camp a lot of her life, until the past couple of years. My travel was cut quite a bit since COVID, but Stirling has been boarded several times a year due to vacations, births, hospitals stays, etc. lol.

She is headed to the Vet later this month for her annual exam. She needs her annual DAPP, Bordetella and Influenza. Her Rabies Vaccine is good till 2024. She had some issues with her Teeth last summer and faced an infection. Some of her teeth had to be removed. Unfortunately, 1 of her lower canines had to be removed.

For the most part, she’s a standard Klee Kai through and through, lol. She’s protective of her pack, especially me. She does extremely well when I leave her with the PetHotel people, but she does talk a lot when we’re handing her off. She has little anxiety when we leave her, but will calm down after 5-10 minutes. She is crate trained.

I’ll have my wife send some pictures along. She’s primarily white, with black and gray. But she’s getting her tan coat in right now, so there’s going to be an early fall this year, lol.

Thank you for all your assistance. It’s very tough for us to rehome Stirling, but we believe she could receive much more love and attention from a family not facing a lot of these constraints that were facing at this time.

There is a 1 year old male pup in search of a new home in the Maryland area. Please message me if interested. He is with an older couple now and he is too much for them to handle.

Spring showers have brought outdoor plants into bloom. If you have pets (or are planning to adopt one soon), please be mindful of which plants may be toxic to your pet. You can have a beautiful array of colorful plants AND a healthy pet by choosing wisely!

THIS IS A PSA

Puppies bite. They bite a lot. They bite hard. Their teeth are sharp. You might bleed. It might seem relentless.

Scaring the pants off them by yelling, pinning, shoving or shouting will not only do precisely zero, it will potentially create a fearful adult dog.

Puppies bite more when;
They are tired
They are hungry
They are bored
They are overstimulated
They are teething

Read that again. They bite MORE when they are the above. They will also bite when they are absolutely fine. They are dogs not dolls.

Be compassionate not scary. They will grow out of it but only if you teach them a good alternative. Trade for toys. Use a pen or a crate. Teach calmness. Reward gentle interactions. Grit your own teeth and ride it out while reinforcing good stuff and proactively managing bad stuff.

Be proactive when you know biting happens like after some play, when excitement goes up, when they are overtired (7-9pm witching hour anyone?) and give them a good chew or help them settle, or channel that energy into some training.

It does get better basically. Don’t panic. Most puppy biting isn’t aggression. Be CONSISTENT and PROACTIVE and expect more than a few bites along the way.

Signed,
Aalto the Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever (aka the ginger shark)

For us humans, it’s not exactly socially acceptable to go up to an acquaintance — or even an old friend, for that matter — and start hu***ng them. Nor is it appropriate to go to town on a toy or pillow with onlookers nearby. However, our canine companions don’t have these kinds of social inh...

Fresh produce is usually considered to be a healthy part of the diet, and the same can be true for our four-legged friends. We love sharing snacks with them, especially if we know that they’re wholesome, but it’s first important to know which foods to avoid giving to our pets. Aside from willing...
