We have an absolutely incredible opportunity! After our last plea, we received an email about wanting to offer a donation match to try to get us back on track. They are willing to match up to $10,000! That would absolutely allow us to start saying yes again.
When we received the email, I asked them why they are willing to do this for the Project, here is what she said:
“In the 70’s my elderly Grandparents had an older dog that started to go blind. The advice given them by their veterinarian at that time was to have “Spanky” put to sleep because he was older and would need a lot of extra care. My Grandparents knew that was not an option for them and took Spanky home. They lived on the main floor of the house and my Grandpa set up a bell at the door and taught Spanky how to ring it anytime he wanted to go outside. My Grandma loved him so much that shealways hoped that someone would be able to make him glassesso he could see again, as a little girl I thought this idea was hysterical. Spanky lived for many more years giving my Grandparents unconditional love always reaffirming that they had made the right choice.
Many years later my husband and I were faced with some similar decisions when our senior dog was diagnosed with diabetes. “Max” had many prior health challenges and was already being treated daily with medication and now he would need twice daily injections and regular monitoring. Some months the cost of the medications and veterinary bills in addition to the amount of care and monitoring Max needed was daunting; but he seemed basically unphased and would bounce back after any of his health challenges and continued to be a dog that loved life. We were fortunate to have him with us for roughly 5 more years and even though they were sometimes challenging we would never have wanted to miss a single day of Max’s love and the great memories he has given us.
That is why we love the Mr. Mo Project; they know how special our senior dogs are and are making a difference not only in the senior dog’s life but also in all the fortunate foster families that will get to share in the incredible love these seniors have to offer.
Please give generously!”
