Post-operative soft palate resection
SVH keeps striving to improve patient care.
We now have a wireless monitor for our higher risk patients which can be used post-operatively or for very sick hospitalized pets.
This cute French Bulldog just had his soft palate shortened so that he can breathe better. He’s resting comfortably and we can have a constant ECG, heart rate and respiratory rate at his cage. The machine will also alarm if the reading go outside our set ranges!
* Edited to add: We added full anesthesia monitoring equipment almost 4yrs ago when the ownership of SVH changed and use that on all of our surgery patients.. This is newer and is our first cage-side wireless option!
Prudence’s Progress Post-Amputation
Good news update!
Remember our case post about Prudence? We are happy to report that we saw her back for her suture removal and she is doing fantastic! She’s a very vocal cat and always talks to everyone so the meowing you hear in the video is normal for her.
The histopathology (biopsy) confirmed her leg had a malignant bone cancer (osteosarcoma) with pathological small fractures present.
