A Gift of Gratitude 🚗💛
Today, I'm feeling grateful for my long commute to work. It used to feel frustrating and unfair to spend so much time driving back and forth from my job at local animal shelters AND running Hope Haven Farm Sanctuary.
But now, I've discovered a new perspective!
During these drives, I focus on my gratitude for the Sanctuary and the animals in my life. I use this time to think about how I can improve the animals' lives with new protocols and enrichment. I brainstorm ways to grow the organization and share the beauty of farm animals with more people through events and programs.
What once felt like a burden now fills me with energy, hope, and excitement. The potential for Hope Haven to make an incredible difference in the lives of animals, Pittsburghers, and supporters is endless.
Gotta embrace the journey!💚

Proof that farm life is the ultimate reality TV! 🐷💦
Kune Kune pig, Benson, found the perfect way to beat the heat by turning a rain barrel into a luxury spa, much to the amusement of two Muscovy ducks. 🦆 🦆
The ducks conversation in the background about the pig’s unconventional pool party?
‘Is he laying in OUR water bucket?’
‘He sure is! Unbelievable!’
‘He’s always *hogging* the water!’
Just having a lazy day at the farm in the heat….
🐑💖 We are overjoyed to see our baby lambs becoming more friendly and settling into their new home here at Hope Haven! 🏡 These sweet little ones came from a large farm on the other side of the state, where they had little human contact. The farmer had a huge herd of sheep and didn’t plan on breeding them, but with rams and ewes together, every spring brought new babies. Thankfully, a local advocate educated the farmer on castrating the rams, and she agreed, allowing the lambs to find forever homes and sanctuaries. After several weeks of patient and loving care, our lambs are now full of affection and are wonderful new additions to our sanctuary. Check out this heartwarming video of us snuggling and petting one of our little lambs. Their transformation has been truly incredible, and we couldn’t be happier! 🥰🐑#HopeHaven #LambLove #SanctuaryLife #ForeverHome
Does anyone have a kiddie pool they want to donate? Ours somehow got a few holes in it….
You never know what you’ll find in the stalls of Hope Haven. You always have to take a second look!
Little Sassafras the pig is over-the-moon happy with the mountain of a straw bed she made in Munchie’s stall. She’s a happy pig!! 🐷💕
Our handsome broad-breasted white turkeys, lovingly called the three kings, are strutting their stuff today!
There’s a lot to be puffed up and proud about. Beautiful sunshine, a peaceful spring afternoon, a safe forever home, and lots of love.
Winner announcement! New farm events! Lambs and more!
Everyone should have a friendship like Richard and Pinky’s…. 🥺
Kevin would like to take a moment to give a big shout out to whoever donated the giant bag of carrots. They were VERY much enjoyed! 🧡🥕🧡

All the animals are feeling a bit icky during this hot spring, but none more than our sheep and alpaca. Their heavy coats are a wonder during the winter months but a nightmare in this heat. Good thing shearing day is coming up soon!!! Check back this weekend to see their transformations! 🤩
GUESS WHAT!? Our public farm tours are finally up and running! 🎉 After asking in our social media stories, we heard you loud and clear—Friday tours are now a thing! 🙌 So there are TWO TOURS A WEEK where you can come meet our amazing rescued animal crew 🐷🐑🐔. Tours will run through November, so there's plenty of time to visit. Come say hi to Rigby the emu at the gate, give Kevin the goat a snuggle, and scratch Achoo the pig behind his floppy ears! We can't wait to welcome you! 🐾❤️ #FarmLife #AnimalRescue #SummerFun #FarmTours
A Rainy Rescue Story! Tuesday night while we were trying to do evening chores during a rainstorm, we discovered a muddy, featherless baby bird in one of our pastures. With no nest in sight to return it to, we took it in to keep it warm and comfortable. We gently force-fed the pathetic little creature but feared it might not survive the night. To our astonishment, this morning it was happy, hungry, chirping, and even pooping! We continued feeding it throughout the day, and our wonderful volunteer Kaxandra selflessly took the little guy to the HARP Wildlife Center in Verona. They identified it as an European starling. 🐦⬛Huge thanks to Kaxandra and the HARP wildlife center! This time of year wildlife centers and rehabbers are understaffed and overwhelmed with orphaned wildlife. The HARP wildlife center was so very nice; they returned my call immediately and took this little baby in with open arms, even though they are currently caring for SO MANY sick and needy creatures. Please respect and appreciate wildlife rehabbers! Send them all the love!! They have an extremely hard job, are overworked, and their work is incredibly important!#WildlifeRescue #ThankYouVolunteers #SupportWildlifeRehabbers #HARP #EuropeanStarling
Stick your nose where it doesn’t belong this week! It might be fun!!!
