Just wanted to clear some things up!

I know it's messy with so many big companies these days, but that's not what Poultry Pro is. I programmed this from scratch myself - I'm not a corporation (it's just me, a collage student who likes chickens and hates spreadsheets), and I can't see anything about you on the app aside from your email unless you share it with the Index.

I don't do ad space, don't pass around emails, and definitely don't sell, see, or share your data. Ever.

Till the cows come home!

Many hands made light work - all 45 head made the trek from our summer pastures to the smaller winter lot, where we'll feed them TMR and keep them a bit closer for fall and spring calving. It's fun to be a part of a small cattle drive and watch the girls kick up their feet a bit šŸ„°

I learned to drive a combine today!! It was everything I hoped and dreamed it would be šŸ˜‚ from speed control to emergency stops and figuring out how to lose the least amount of corn. The things you learn in classes these days!

As Gwen says: today is the only Wednesday, October 29th you're ever going to get, make the most of it!

We Hit 1,000 Birds on the Poultry Index ā€” Hereā€™s What Weā€™re Learning!

Production averages are coming together across several breeds, especially Coturnix quail and Leghorns. We even have our first growth curve for quail, so you can see how your lines compare in growth rate and efficiency.

Rare breeds like Russian Orloffs and Pavlovskaya are starting to appear too. Once their egg data comes in, weā€™ll finally have real baselines for breeds that have never had consistent records before.

Every flock added (whether you have two birds or two hundred) helps make the Index stronger. Each entry builds a clearer picture of whatā€™s ā€œnormalā€ across breeds, ages, and management styles.

Meet Peter. He likes to join me for chores - every day around 9:00, he'll fly a lap around the sheep barn and sit on the same branch a bit beyond the ram pens, just watching. I love listening to his chatters, and have had the awe of watching him catch pigeons midair a few times.

I know not every poultry owner loves to see the eagles come through and certainly not to stay, but this one has become quite dear to me and the other farm workers. Definitely something I'll never forget from Mann Valley.
