The Grateful Dog Grooming Salon is a professional grooming facility that caters to the safety and well being of all the pets in our care. Our groomers have all attended grooming schools and graduated with certificates of completion. Our staff comes to you with over 80 years of combined experience. We use our extensive training , resources and knowledge to provide the best service to our four legge

d friends. We opened our doors in 2014 and expanded to a newly renovated store front in 2019 with all new state of the art equipment and cooling systems to keep your pets comfortable. We offer organic all natural , medicated and hypo allergenic shampoos, flea removal , de-skunk baths, deshed treatments, hair coloring and nail clips. We hand dry and fluff every dog so you get the best possible haircut. Our groomers are proficient with all breed standard cuts , skin issues, health issues, and animal behavior. Meet our Staff :

Robin- Salon Owner and Groomer, graduated the CT School of Dog Grooming in 2003. After that she worked under many master groomers for 12 years , including a Veterinary hospital for 8 years, perfecting her craft of grooming. Robin decided after 12 years in the field that she would venture out on her own and open The Grateful Dog Grooming Salon, which has been operating for 9 years. Robin has 20 years experience as a groomer. Shes had a passion for animals since childhood, growing up in a household that was always filled with animals. Shes owned several Rottweilers and has a cat named Chester. Aside from grooming, in her spare time, Robin loves to cook, travel and see live music. Mandy- Groomer- Mandy graduated from grooming school in 1996 in South Carolina, where she was born and raised. She has worked in Veterinary Hospitals and groomed and managed dog boarding facilities for 16 years. Mandy moved to CT in 2003. Mandy has 27 years experience in the field. She has love ,compassion and patience for all animals. She has a dog named Timmy and a bearded dragon named Lucky . She loves to get to know the pets and clients and strives to make each pet and client comfortable and happy. Mandy enjoys her days off with her son Patrick , who keeps her even more busy with school and sports. Franchesca- Groomer- Fran started her grooming journey at Petsmart, where she trained as a bather for 6 months . Her love for animals motivated her to become a groomer and she attended grooming school. Shes been a groomer for 10 years. Fran owned her own salon before joining our team at The Grateful Dog. Today she always strives to be compassionate, patient and loving with each pet. Her goal is to create a safe and fun enviroment for each pup. In her free time, she enjoys music, healthy cooking, traveling and spending time with her family. Otto- Bather- Otto came to us in 2016. From a young age, Otto was always surrounded by animals . He has a strong bond with all of the dogs that he works on. Most of the time, clients tell us their pups are excited to " go see Otto" . He has a gentle touch and is compassionate with every dog that walks through the door. Otto has 7 years experience in bathing and hand drying. He has a cat named Chester whom he adores and administers diabetic medication to twice a day. In his spare time he enjoys collecting cards, traveling and cooking on the grill. Brittany- Bather- Britt has been one of our bathers since we opened our doors in 2014. Robin met Brittany in 2011 when they worked together in another salon where she was the bather. When Robin opened in 2014 , she knew Britts work ethic and compassion for animals were top notch and added her to the team. Brittany takes great pride in her cleanliness and thoroughness of her job. She has 16 years experience as a bather. She has a puppy named Cole, whos become the mascot of the salon. In her spare time, she enjoys boating, hiking with her dog, cooking and restoring furniture.

We're almost already booked for Thanksgiving and Christmas weeks as those weeks are short work weeks because of the days the actual holidays fall on. Make sure to prebook at your next appointment to ensure we can get you in. We won't be able to move appointments around once they are booked, so please make sure the day you pick is the right one. Hi All, I hope everyone is safe after the devastating storms we had yesterday. We were able to get the salon last night and do a quick check of the building. We were good as of 8 pm last night. We're expecting to reopen tomorrow. We'll keep you updated if anything changes.

Just a heads up, we are currently booking 3 weeks out. We have very limited appointments left for the week of July 4th. Please make your appointments ASAP if you need grooming before the holiday. We're in our busy season, we're booking weeks out, it's always best to make your next appointment before leaving from the current one. Our Saturday appointments are booked out months in advance, if you need a Saturday appointment, we highly suggest making them for the year. We will be closed July 4th, 5th and 6th to give our staff a well deserved long holiday weekend.

Our Story

The Grateful Dog offers state of the art grooming in a newly renovated store front with all new equipment. We offer all natural organic shampoos, medicated and hypo allergenic treatments, flea baths, skunk removal, deshed treatments , hair coloring and nail clips. We hand dry and fluff every dog so you get the best possible haircut. We use NO heat dryers! Our salon is newly renovated, clean, and quiet for your pets safety and well being. We are equipped for geriatric dogs. Our tub and tables go to the floor and have safety bars above with belly bands to help with standing and making it a comfortable experience for older pets. We take great pride in offering a comfortable and relaxing experience for your dog .

MEET OUR STAFF

Robin- Owner/Operator/Groomer

After graduating in 2001 from the C.T School of Dog Grooming , Robin worked under some very talented groomers for 13 years learning a vast knowledge of the industry. Robin worked in numerous salons, a veterinary office and a mobile unit learning all aspects of the trade . In 2014, she opened her own salon, The Grateful Dog . She does all breed specific haircuts, scissor work and specialize in maintaining and grooming large breed full coated dogs. She recently lost her beloved dog, Rain . She had a wonderful 12 years with her, especially the last 5 years , where Rain was a full time employee at The Grateful Dog . Robin has a tuxedo cat at home named Chester , who gets all the attention now and couldn’t be happier.

Erin- Groomer

After graduating a trade school , Erin decided she wanted to pursue a career involving her love for animals. She started with rescue , donating her time and resources to helping animals that needed homes. Soon after, she started a bathing position at a grooming salon. She loved it so much she decided to go to grooming school and make grooming her life long career. She graduated grooming school in 2015. Since then, she worked in salons, mobile grooming and pop up shops across the country, from California to CT. She does creative grooming and was featured in Opawz Pet Products for her creative color work. She has full experience including large breed dogs and exotics. When shes not at work , shes at home tending to her own pets. She owns a Pitbull named Angus, a bird named Ramble Rose and a tortoise Rufio. Erin spends numerous hours at home making all the home made bow ties that you see going home on some of the dogs.

Linda- Groomer

Linda Graduated grooming school in 1994. She has experience in grooming all breeds and has worked in salons from New Canaan, Ansonia all the way to Wolcott, CT. She has 26 years experience in grooming . She has a hound mix named Roscoe and enjoys spending time on her farm. She raises and shows Flemish Giant Rabbits and has a horse named Daisy Mae .

Otto- Bather

Otto came to us 3 years ago after leaving his job as a relocation engineer (mover) after a injury that prevented him from doing that line of work anymore. After growing up his whole life with a house full of animals and his genuine love of dogs and cats, he decided to take a bathing position with us. Every dog that comes in loves Otto, even the dogs that don’t like men! Owners cant believe that Otto wins them over every time. Otto has a gentle heart and soul and the dogs respond well to his loving nature.
