The Grateful Dog Grooming Salon is a professional grooming facility that caters to the safety and well being of all the pets in our care. Our groomers have all attended grooming schools and graduated with certificates of completion. Our staff comes to you with over 80 years of combined experience. We use our extensive training , resources and knowledge to provide the best service to our four legge

d friends. We opened our doors in 2014 and expanded to a newly renovated store front in 2019 with all new state of the art equipment and cooling systems to keep your pets comfortable. We offer organic all natural , medicated and hypo allergenic shampoos, flea removal , de-skunk baths, deshed treatments, hair coloring and nail clips. We hand dry and fluff every dog so you get the best possible haircut. Our groomers are proficient with all breed standard cuts , skin issues, health issues, and animal behavior. Meet our Staff :

Robin- Salon Owner and Groomer, graduated the CT School of Dog Grooming in 2003. After that she worked under many master groomers for 12 years , including a Veterinary hospital for 8 years, perfecting her craft of grooming. Robin decided after 12 years in the field that she would venture out on her own and open The Grateful Dog Grooming Salon, which has been operating for 9 years. Robin has 20 years experience as a groomer. Shes had a passion for animals since childhood, growing up in a household that was always filled with animals. Shes owned several Rottweilers and has a cat named Chester. Aside from grooming, in her spare time, Robin loves to cook, travel and see live music. Mandy- Groomer- Mandy graduated from grooming school in 1996 in South Carolina, where she was born and raised. She has worked in Veterinary Hospitals and groomed and managed dog boarding facilities for 16 years. Mandy moved to CT in 2003. Mandy has 27 years experience in the field. She has love ,compassion and patience for all animals. She has a dog named Timmy and a bearded dragon named Lucky . She loves to get to know the pets and clients and strives to make each pet and client comfortable and happy. Mandy enjoys her days off with her son Patrick , who keeps her even more busy with school and sports. Franchesca- Groomer- Fran started her grooming journey at Petsmart, where she trained as a bather for 6 months . Her love for animals motivated her to become a groomer and she attended grooming school. Shes been a groomer for 10 years. Fran owned her own salon before joining our team at The Grateful Dog. Today she always strives to be compassionate, patient and loving with each pet. Her goal is to create a safe and fun enviroment for each pup. In her free time, she enjoys music, healthy cooking, traveling and spending time with her family. Otto- Bather- Otto came to us in 2016. From a young age, Otto was always surrounded by animals . He has a strong bond with all of the dogs that he works on. Most of the time, clients tell us their pups are excited to " go see Otto" . He has a gentle touch and is compassionate with every dog that walks through the door. Otto has 7 years experience in bathing and hand drying. He has a cat named Chester whom he adores and administers diabetic medication to twice a day. In his spare time he enjoys collecting cards, traveling and cooking on the grill. Brittany- Bather- Britt has been one of our bathers since we opened our doors in 2014. Robin met Brittany in 2011 when they worked together in another salon where she was the bather. When Robin opened in 2014 , she knew Britts work ethic and compassion for animals were top notch and added her to the team. Brittany takes great pride in her cleanliness and thoroughness of her job. She has 16 years experience as a bather. She has a puppy named Cole, whos become the mascot of the salon. In her spare time, she enjoys boating, hiking with her dog, cooking and restoring furniture.

Hi, we have very few appointments available before Easter with groomers Mandy and Fran. Robin's schedule is completely booked until May. If you haven't made your appointments for the month of April, please call us ASAP. We are short staffed and have limited availability. This is why it is so important to prebook your appointments. If you're a Saturday client, we recommend booking out for the entire year as those appointments book out months in advance.

At this time, were no longer accepting new clients. We are booking 2-3 weeks out and our next available Saturday appointment is in April. We highly suggest making your appointments for the rest of the year as we're short staffed and can only take so many appointments per week. With the busy season coming we will get even more backed up then we are now. Please call ahead and schedule so we can get you on the schedule. Thanks!

We would like to remind everyone, we have a 48 hour cancelation policy . If appointments are not canceled 48 hours prior to appointment time, there will be a fee of 50% of groom price that needs to be paid before another appointment is booked. This is non negotiable, our groomers work on commission and don't get paid when clients are no shows or forgot they prebooked appointments . Please be considerate and call us 48 hours prior if you need to cancel so we can try and fill the spot. Thanks!

Update: All appointments have been filled. We're booking into Jan at this time.
FYI, the ONLY availability we have before Christmas is this Wed the 11th and Thursday the 12th. We have a few open appointments for those 2 days and those 2 days only. Our next appointments are booking into the first week of January.
Please be patient with us going into the next few weeks. We are short staffed and doing our best to get everyone in and finished on time. We're 2 groomers doing the work of 3 groomers so please be patient with pick up times. We will call you as soon as your pup is done. We shoot for 4 hours but during the holidays it may be a bit longer. Please refrain from calling us to see if your dogs ready or walking in to check. This takes time away from us while we are working to get everyone done in a timely manner.
Also, please make sure to drop off at your given appointment time. Please do not drop off any earlier then 15 minutes prior to drop off time or arrive 15 after appointment time.
At this time we are not accepting any new clients. We will let you know when our schedules allow us to take on new clients.

Our Story

The Grateful Dog offers state of the art grooming in a newly renovated store front with all new equipment. We offer all natural organic shampoos, medicated and hypo allergenic treatments, flea baths, skunk removal, deshed treatments , hair coloring and nail clips. We hand dry and fluff every dog so you get the best possible haircut. We use NO heat dryers! Our salon is newly renovated, clean, and quiet for your pets safety and well being. We are equipped for geriatric dogs. Our tub and tables go to the floor and have safety bars above with belly bands to help with standing and making it a comfortable experience for older pets. We take great pride in offering a comfortable and relaxing experience for your dog .

MEET OUR STAFF

Robin- Owner/Operator/Groomer

After graduating in 2001 from the C.T School of Dog Grooming , Robin worked under some very talented groomers for 13 years learning a vast knowledge of the industry. Robin worked in numerous salons, a veterinary office and a mobile unit learning all aspects of the trade . In 2014, she opened her own salon, The Grateful Dog . She does all breed specific haircuts, scissor work and specialize in maintaining and grooming large breed full coated dogs. She recently lost her beloved dog, Rain . She had a wonderful 12 years with her, especially the last 5 years , where Rain was a full time employee at The Grateful Dog . Robin has a tuxedo cat at home named Chester , who gets all the attention now and couldn’t be happier.
