P&P was never intended to be a high volume business with an advertising budget and employees. Instead, it was a BIG dream with a SIMPLE goal, to offer a welcoming and supportive environment for both the Pup and Parent. I wanted anyone who chose P&P to feel comfortable and to feel like Family. I couldn’t have predicted how quickly our clients would spread the word, as we never spent a dime on marketing, yet stopped accepting new Clients in less than a year’s time.
This dream has become something personal for the clients I share it with and absolutely none of this would have been possible without them. Clients like Judith Halaszyn come to mind. Not only was she my first client, she would tell literally anyone with a dog how P&P was the only way to go.
I’m also grateful to my parents for planting the seed, as grooming dogs wasn’t even on my radar, I just knew I wanted to work with dogs. My husband then watered that seed by supporting my resignation from a 6 figure job and pushing me to stick with it when, after less than a month, I decided I’d made a huge mistake. My formal training at Texas AllBreed Grooming School helped the seed to grow and my time at The Fireplug Inn helped it to bloom.

A business is never just about the owner. It's about the people you surround yourself with and who support you. Thank you to everyone who has been part of my journey and is still here to watch me grow.

It’s that time of year, where people leave their dogs fur longer for the winter weather and adorn them in sweaters and jackets. As a groomer, I recommend that any collar, harness or clothing be worn when necessary, not 24/7, even when it’s cold out. Save the coats for time outdoors, on walks, etc…as these items tend to cause matting and tangles. *Unless your pup is smooth coated - a chihuahua for example will not have any of these issues. It's always a good idea after removing clothing to brush the affected areas.

Warm Paws 4 All SUCCESS!
This morning Daniel made one last delivery of over 100 blankets to The Linda McNatt Animal Care & Adoption Center, so today officially concludes our 6th annual Warm Paws 4 All blanket & supply drive. When we started 6 years ago we had a goal of 100 blankets & our only focus was Lake Dallas AS. In 2022 we began donating to Hickory Creek AS & this year we were able to add yet another shelter to the family by adding Denton AS.

Here’s what we accomplished in our last drive & all because Pride & Pedigree has the BEST clients, friends & neighbors!
🐾 320 fleece blankets collected, bringing the total for 6 years to OVER 1,600
🐾 $760 in cash donations, all of which went towards food, supplies & blankets
🐾 54 dog collars for Hickory Creek Animal Shelter
🐾12 cozy cat beds for Lake Dallas Animal Shelter
🐾 300 cans of cat & dog food
🐾 over 350 lbs of cat & dog kibble
🐾 over 100 dog & cat toys
🐾 40 “Adopt Me” bandanas
🐾 16 gallons of bleach
🐾 6 gallons of laundry detergent
🐾 6 large Dawn Dish soaps
🐾 72 rolls of paper towels
🐾 assorted dog & cat treats
🐾 Kitty litter
🐾 Kitten formula & baby bottles

Sharing for a friend and neighbor, pls message me if you’re interested. NOTE - every ounce of Sadie is a puppy. Puppy energy, puppy teeth, puppy everything, so she will need a home with a lot of puppy patience 😉.

We are re-homing a female Mini Aussie mix (a little german shepherd and yellow lab), 9 weeks old, very smart, precious dog. Has had her first round of vaccinations (distemper/heart worm/prescription for monthly flea pill) and will need the rest in 3 weeks. Will come with puppy treats/food/leash/training pads/toys/food bowls. Desire her to go to a loving home that can give her the attention she needs.

We have had her for 10 days, and it was my husband's dog, but he has had an event (possible stroke, waiting for results) and the puppy is not getting the attention and training a puppy requires. It has become highly stressful and need her re-homed ASAP.

We’re at 73 blankets! Thank you to Ryan Peterson for $35 and Genena Thompson Barnes for $50! $85 buys another 26 blankets. I ordered my max at Walmart just now. I need to buy 13 more if anyone is out and about. I can Venmo, etc..if so. The purrrrfect size blankets are available at Walmart, $3.25 each w tax.

It’s November 1st, and you know what that means!!! It’s the official kick off of the 4th annual “Warm Paws 4 All” blanket & supply drive!!! We’re excited to see what 2021 will bring! I’m setting our BLANKET GOAL at 300 this year and have no doubt we can achieve that and more! Let the mess in my office/greenhouse/junk room begin😜.

Another time lapse, this one of Willow, (another Willow 😉, not mine). I promise, she is just fine, not ill or even a senior dog, she’s just SUPER CHILL! She spent most of her summer in Maine, living her best life at the lake cabin, so she was matted and needed a shave down. Luckily, she has time to grow out for Fall and Winter.🤗

I’m almost speachless, almost! I had NO IDEA! Not a clue, and not a one of you slipped up!!! Not only do I owe a huge, crazy, audacious SHOUT out to Daniel for doing this ALL behind my back, I also want to thank each and EVERY ONE of you that voted for Pride & Pedigree in the “Best of Denton County”! You have no idea how absolutely shocked I was when Daniel told me that we won, as we weren’t participating, annnnnnnd….P&P won #1 IN DENTON COUNTY! Seriously?! I mean, we are a tiny salon, just 4 - 6 dogs a day, 5 days a week. Just me, Willow, Abby and Indy most of the day, and yet, somehow you all pulled this off! More to say…still processing 😍

I will announce this - we need a P&P Celebration this Fall for the Humans and Dogs alike!! I’m thinking food, ice cream, drinks…I’ll have something for the humans too.🤪 In all seriousness, I think a P&P party 🎉 is in order!!!! More to come.

Slight change of plans with the last of the donations from our Christmas in July event. Cleburne and Saginaw were good for the time, because y’all are so freaking amazing, so we made a Santa stop at the Lake Dallas Animal Shelter today! Local donations for our local shelter!! Of course, we’ll be doing our annual Warm Paws for All blanket drive this Holiday, which benefits the LDAS too.

I’ve had a few clients ask for advice on flea control, so I figured I’d share.
🐶1st, get your pets on a flea/tick prevention. I prefer Bravecto, as it last 3 months and kills fleas, black-legged ticks, American dog ticks AND brown dog ticks.
🐶2nd, if your pet has fleas OR you see rust colored or dark specks or dirt on their skin, this is likely ‘flea dirt’ or 💩. Dawn dish soap is what I use for flea baths. No chemical shampoos are necessary. A thick lather will clean your pet and suffocate the fleas, washing them down the drain.
🐶3rd, wash all bedding, yours and theirs.
🐶4th, Diatomaceous earth is wonderful to use inside and outside of your home. Safe, inexpensive and simple.

Today, being the last day of “Christmas in July” for the Saginaw & Cleburne Animal Shelters, we went to Walmart to spend the $60 we had left from Karen & Gayle and ended up with 350 lbs of kitty litter!!! Special thanks to Daniel for doing most of the heavy lifting😜. Also, found a surprise delivery of Bleach on the porch early this morning. After Ring Doorbell digging, I spotted the donor - 🌻Shelly Winter! 🌻Thank you!

Over the last 31 days, the amount of food, cleaning supplies and pet products y’all have donated is just incredible! None of these drives would be possible without all of you and it is absolutely appreciated by more than just the pets.
