The clock is ticking and next Friday will be here before you know it. Please share and take a moment to send a letter!
For far too long cats have been suffering from the horrible act of declawing, which has short and long-term consequences. We have an opportunity to take steps to end this in Minnesota and save countless cats from pain, suffering, and often abandonment/death at shelters due to the behavior problems that they develop.
We have an opportunity to stop this practice.

Pet Food Recall Alert!

If you are using Northwest Naturals brand 2lb Feline Turkey Recipe raw frozen pet food be aware that it has been recalled after the death of a cat from the food which was tested and determined to be infected with the H5N1 strain of avian influenza.
The recalled product is packaged in 2-pound plastic bags with “Best if used by” dates of 05/21/26 B10 and 06/23/2026 B1. The product was sold through distributors in AZ, CA, CO, FL, GA, IL, MD, MI, MN, PA, RI and WA in the United States, and British Columbia in Canada.

The Wall Street Journal published (6/13/24) a biased article explaining the billion dollar profit that declawing cats brings in. The article is biased toward declawing with incomplete data, missing is the CDC statement on declawing cats. The CDC does not recommend declawing cats because a bite is far worse than the claws for immuno-compromised people. Reporter Peter Funt is prodeclaw.

We have gone through the 2024 MN legislative session. The declaw ban bill was not brought up for a hearing in the House Ag committee. They had many weeks were a committee hearing was not held. We will be back again next session.

The Minnesota House has a declawing ban bill set for a hearing in the Ag committee. Please call your MN legislator and ask them to support this important bill that will end a cruel and abusive procedure that has caused millions of cats to lose their homes, and often their lives.
