"Safer-at-home" but farmers still carry on.
Dad called this morning and needed help with a cow that wasn't making progress. Vet came out with a calf jack and about 20 minutes later we luckily had a new bull calf at Diamond D Acres! We weren't sure if this one was alive since the cord was hanging for some time before we could pull.
Right now the boys have a nice choice of chromed up stout calves and so far everyone is healthy!
Dad says this makes 9 calves on the ground and we should have a 1-2 week break now.
#BummerAnnie and #BummerBob (yes the boys named him) and not very patient when it comes to getting their grub. Bummer Bob's shoulder is starting to get better with time and ample excerise.
After a very long day, come home to find this. Three ewes dropped lambs, two of which are first timers. Four alive lambs and one obvious still birth. Husband and I are currently playing the who belongs to who game since all three are claiming all the babies. Never a dull moment!
We are super excited about our new ram! Big thanks to Kevin, his dad and two of our boys for making the three hour trek north to pick him up. Originally from Nebraska, this big boy has come a long way from home. Excited to see what he does on our ewes!
And....come to find out, he is an Express Pass son!
Morning dose of cuteness!
Countdown is on! First breeding means we should be about 16 days out. Tomorrow I have to play catch up on shots and get our lambing shed set up.
This has become my daily giggles while Im waiting for these girls to pop.
