High Horses Therapeutic Riding Program offers equine assisted activities and therapies to people with special needs. We have been serving residents of the Upper Connecticut River Valley region of New Hampshire and Vermont since 1993. We are one of only three programs in Vermont whose standards meet the demanding criteria to attain "Premier Accreditation" by PATH intl.

Last week, during a program break week, some of our amazing staff members participated in CPR/AED/First Aid training. 🩹💪 Staying up-to-date with these essential skills is crucial, as it ensures we’re always ready to respond quickly and effectively in any emergency. Meet Rosie, the newest member of our herd! 🐴 Rosie joins us from a farm in Pennsylvania, where she worked as an Amish draft horse. Though she’s still settling in, we’re excited to see her grow into an incredible part of our program.

At 16.3 hands with a gorgeous bay coat, Rosie has a calm, kind nature and a strong personality. She’s already working hard with our team and bonding with her new friend Sadie.

We’re so excited to watch Rosie’s journey—welcome to the family, Rosie! 💖

This winter, we’re beyond grateful to shine a light on one of our incredible volunteers, Brian! 🙌 Brian has been a consistent presence through the colder months, bringing his positive energy and eagerness to learn with him every day. While he’s new to working with horses, his calm and steady approach has quickly made a lasting impact—both on the horses and our team. 🐴💙

❄️ Winter Schedule Update ❄️

As we embrace the beauty of winter, we want to keep you informed about our upcoming winter schedule. High Horses farm and offices will be closed Dec. 23 - Jan. 3, giving our horses and staff a well-deserved holiday break. Our farm will continue to be closed Jan. 6-10 to give our herd more time to rest, but our offices will be open. 🐴💙

We’ll be back to offering our transformative equine-assisted services on Jan. 13, ready to continue supporting your journey of healing and growth in the New Year. 🌟

Our team had a blast in the Woodstock Wassail Holiday Parade this past Saturday, Dec. 14th! Staff, volunteers, and clients all joined in the fun, marching alongside our trusty herd members Vinnie, Gizmo, and Dan. Together, we spread holiday cheer and shared smiles with the community, making it a festive and memorable day for everyone. A big thank you to everyone who participated - it was a wonderful way to kick off the holiday season! 🎄❄️🎅

Meet Ingrid, our new Volunteer Coordinator! 🤝✨

Ingrid has been riding since she was 6 and is thrilled to bring her passion for horses and mental health to the High Horses community. Originally from Minnesota, Ingrid and her fiancé, along with their dog and horse, moved to VT to live their dream in the mountains. 🌄

With a background in equine-assisted therapy and a deep commitment to supporting others, Ingrid is excited to collaborate with our incredible volunteers and learn from all of you. She’s here to grow, listen, and make meaningful impact as part of this amazing team.

🌟Farewell, Dixie!🌟

After years of dedicated service, we are so happy to share that our beloved herd member, Dixie, has officially retired to her previous home, where she will enjoy her well-deserved rest. 🐴💕

Born in 1997, this gentle gray beauty has always been the picture of patience and steadiness. With her kind soul and steady presence, she made a lasting impact on everyone who met her. We are so proud to say that Dixie was named PATH Region 1 Horse of the Year in 2020 —a true testament to her character and the love she poured into her work.

At 14.2hh, Dixie may have been small in stature, but her heart was absolutely huge. Her calm demeanor and unwavering patience made her an extraordinary partner to many, and we know she will continue to shine in her retirement years.

Enjoy the next chapter, Dixie! You’ve earned every moment of it. 🐎❤️
