VALLEY OF THE KINGS SANCTUARY AND RETREAT

Volunteers needed on Saturday's and Sunday’s as caretakers for the residents, including Tinies (Domestic Cats), small mammals, hoof stock, and birds, and experience the profound joy of making a difference in their lives.

We welcome volunteers of all ages, 16 and above without a guardian, and younger volunteers accompanied by a guardian, to join our team and be part of a rewarding experience.

Many of our current volunteers are older, and we would love to see fresh faces of all ages bring new energy to our sanctuary.

Volunteer hours are flexible, and you can commit to a few hours or a full day, once a month or weekly, on one or both weekend days.

Our main ask is for you to learn from our residents, experience unconditional love, and be committed to ensuring consistent quality care and caretaker coverage.

Having multiple volunteers to ensure caretaker coverage on both weekend days, even if only for a couple of hours on one day, would be a huge blessing.

The Sanctuary now depends on and needs the younger generations to keep our mission going and be the voice for those who have none. It is a privilege to work with such a diverse range of animals, learn their likes, and see their happiness with wonderful care.

Tinies (seniors/special needs, community cats semi feral/feral, and street kittens) are always in need of wet canned cat food. All brands used. Prefer Friskies Shreds to mix in with Pates.

Enclosures: We would love to be able to build out bigger more member accessible enclosures fothe small exotic cats as one goal for 2026.

Winter Utilities: We have furnaces going for our indoor residents in two of our buildings and the electric bill runs an average of $800 during the winter yet months. We work on well water so we use heated hoses and hardware to keep the pumps thawed.

Thank you everyone who donated on Giving Tuesday and to our friends whom support us on a regular basis!

Transformative appeal for donations for Giving Tuesday to uplift our organization and make a lasting impact on the lives of small exotic cats. We strive to construct new enclosures for our Bobcats, Servals, and Caracal (the one that was roaming in Hoffman Estates), providing larger habitats with novel enrichment opportunities for the upcoming year. Many of the cats were confiscated by authorities or relinquished to us by everyday people unfamiliar with exotic cats their diet, personalities, exercise, and social needs.

The low end estimate for this project is $70,000 excluding demolition of existing enclosures. Thank you for your support!

As we embark on preparing for winter, we're gearing up for our next Work Day on November 8, where we'll be setting up water bowls and tanks with heaters, and swapping small water bowls with heated ones, inspiring compassion and care for our residents. Upon reviewing inventory, we've identified a need for outdoor extension cords, heater water bowls, and 3-way adapters.
