Queen City Dog Training Club (QCDTC) has been training companion and show dogs in the greater Cincinnati area since 1947. QCDTC also offers membership to the general public after specific requirements have been met. QCDTC is an organization dedicated and pledged to the training of dogs, while fostering friendship and sportsmanship among its members and guests.

We would like to congratulate the following members for qualifying for the AKC agility invitational s this year. To qualify you must be in the top 5 agility dogs in the country for your breed. It’s a great accomplishment and these teams have worked hard and overcome some major obstacles.

8/20 to 9/10 - Novice and Advanced Container Trial Prep (dog must be on Birch and Anise odors)
9/24 to 10/15 - Hi Lo Enhanced Interiors (dog must be on Birch, Anise, and Clove odors)

Today was day three of our June agility trial. Each day our judge, Michelle Persian, has opened the day with the national anthem on her violin. Today she was joined by, Lindsey Barrows adding a beautiful vocal. You never know what other talents you will find at an agility trial

Members from Monday night’s Competition Rally class (Janie/Hank; Sue/Basil; and Mary Kay with Lana and Rosso) showed off ribbons earned at the June 8&9 Rally Trial at Gem City along with instructor Barb Jackson who also got a Q ribbon with one of her CKCS. Sue and Basil earned a first place ribbon in a large, highly competitive Advanced B class that included 11 teams with perfect 100 scores! Mary Kay and Lana also took home first place ribbons from Advanced A and Excellent A.

The open level in agility requires that the team execute 12 weave poles (instead of 6 in novice). There are more obstacles and side changes as well at this level. Congratulations to Amy and Taci who earned their first qualification in Open Jumpers with Weaves their very first time at that level!!!! What nice handling and connection with this new team!

Queen City hosted an agility trial over the weekend. Agility training is fun and challenging. It was so exciting to see our newer teams showing and succeeding! Congratulations to Paul, Natalie, Suzy and Delana, whose dogs are pictured here -and all the other QC teams who made a great showing this weekend. (Share your pictures with me (Linda Zehler) and I will be happy to post them here. )

Nearly 14-month-old Welsh Springer Spaniel “Rosso” earned his AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC) and Trick Dog Novice (TKN) titles today. Several Queen City instructors and members are also official AKC CGC Evaluators and we will do CGC and Trick Dog testing at the club by appointment. Queen City Dog Training Club not only has the premiere facility in the area — we also truly have a wonderful group of top-notch instructors teaching classes in a wide variety of dog activities, including Obedience, Rally, Agility, Conformation, Scent Work, etc.

Scent Work Training

Do you know we offer Scent Work classes? This is one of our Members in a training class. This type of setting is one of the best ways to prepare yourself, and your dog, for a trial environment!

Meet Louis! Louis has been receiving puppy socialization and enrichment before his eyes were even open. Nothing much has phased Louis doing class! He keeps his eyes on his Handler as they build and grow on their relationship. Keep an eye on Louis, he has a big future ahead of him...as soon as he grows into those floppy paws!

Our first night of Puppy Kindergarten was a few weeks ago! During Orientation the class was told to expect some stress from their puppies. Also that their puppies would quickly come to love their class and their Instructors! Bruce is featured below; Team Bruce were not happy campers their first few minutes in class! Bruce was barking and crying a little, his Handler was thinking this was the worst idea ever! It wasn't! Within minutes Team Bruce turned that energy into the best puppy equipment ever...the Ladder! Go Team Bruce Go!
