BullyWag, Inc.

BullyWag, Inc. Decreasing the euthanasia rate of bully breeds. We have come across hundreds of dogs, who, given the opportunity, would make exceptional pets.
(73)

Goals:

Our biggest concern is the unnecessary killing by animal facilities of bully breeds, as well as, all homeless dog breeds because of a lack of space. A growing concern of ours is the surrendering of family pets to kill facilities and the abandonment of pets. Before choosing to do either, consider the following...

* this is a family member
* this is a friend
* they have uncondit

ional love
* they only want to please
* they depend on you
* you are ultimately killing them

Animal overpopulation throughout the U.S. could be drastically reduced by turning irresponsible owners into responsible owners or by holding those bad owners accountable for their actions. Backyard breeding must stop. Batch breeding must stop. Only qualified individuals should oversee and set breeding standards to avoid in-breeding and other unfortunate circumstances. Vision:

Pit pride will prevail against all of those owners who abuse their pits (in one way or another) and will lead to positive pit press, again. We, the true dog lovers, must expose the criminal riff-raff who continue to participate in illegal and irresponsible acts and those who mis-handle and mis-treat our precious pits. There are many organizations dedicated to restoring the pit bull image, we are one example. Although pit bulls have advocates everywhere, one negative event will stand out more in society's mind, requiring at least ten positive events to reverse the damage. It is an uphill struggle and we all have pledged our heart and soul for our love of the American Staffordshire Terrier and the American Pit Bull Terrier. If you are unable to adopt a pit, please consider fostering a pit, or, at the very least, sponsor or make a donation to support a pit or pits.

Romping With Coda Laurel and Chip!

BIG DOG ATTACK! Two in my lap at the same time, kissing me and lashing me in my face with their happy tails! Oh, Lord, making me laugh out loud! Such joy! Such bliss! I worked with them as Rescued pups and now all 3 live together, with Bullywags volunteer Laurie who foster-failed all 3! I dropped by to deliver some tomatoes to Laurie but I KNEW it was gonna be a frantic romp with the fur babies, like it always is! After all that play, Coda winked his gray eyebrows and napped next to me on the sofa, with Laurel cuddled sweetly on my other side and Chip insisting I play tug-o-war with him. Amid so much love, I am totally astounded that every human does not want to be a dog Rescue volunteer!

Whether or not dogs have a "soul" is theological, but what is undeniably TRUE is that some dogs have "soulful eyes", like Spirit, Legend, and Karlie Spirit is now happily a "foster-fail" but Legend and Karlie are still available for adoption to a good home with BullyWag, Inc.

Comforted Scared Rescues Sleep In Your Lap
There is good and evil. Many Rescue dogs were abused, none were loved or they wouldn't need Rescue. Often the Rescuer is the first to comfort and love these scared dogs. That's why when you've gained their trust, they give you a great gift -- their sleep. As they nestle in your lap, comforted by being held by their Rescuer, they trust you enough to safely sleep. Your spirit will soar and jump from cloud to cloud like the clouds are trampolines.

*** PLEASE HELP OUR DOGS***FOOD NEEDED***

BullyWag is in great need of dog food for our fostered animals. Our need right now is greater than ever as we have an increase in dogs that are in our care while awaiting adoptions. The best and least expensive food that we have found that is consistent for our dogs is Kirkland Adult Dog Lamb and Rice as shown in the photo in this post. This 40lb bag can be purchased at Costco for approximately $37.00 after tax. Please consider helping us with this critical need! A gift of dog food ensures that our animals continue to eat a stable and healthy diet while in our care.

If you are a Costco Member and would be gracious enough to purchase us a bag, we would be more than happy to meet you to pick up the food or accept them at our upcoming events Listed here. If you feel inclined to make a donation, this link will bring you to our webpage where there are a variety of ways to make a tax deductible donation that will be used to purchase this food immediately.

Rescue Karlie Meets Another Great Pyrenees

BullyWag, Inc. was holding dog adoptions at PTC Hollywood Feed when a man walked in with a beautiful white Great Pyrenees dog and all of us volunteers exclaimed “Your dog looks like Karlie!” He walked to my friend Karlie’s pen and she excitedly came snout-to-snout with her twin. “Karlie is 4,” I told him, “and she’s shy with strangers, a trait with the breed, but her shyness makes it difficult for adopters to get to know her.” The man, nodding, said, “My girl’s only 8 months old but she’s almost 65 pounds, and she’s shy with strangers too.” But I sat on the aisle floor and she walked over and let me love on her. That made my friend Karlie jealous and she looked at me as if she couldn’t believe I was cheating on her. And with a pooch that looked so much like her! When the man left, I sat back in the pen and hugged Karlie and, her laying her big paw in my lap and kissing me, I guess she forgave me.

Rescue Bella and The Scary Storm

Storm warnings jangled from the phone in my shirt pocket next to my cross necklace; I could see the black clouds above my car in Peachtree City swirling like aerial cobras, and Rescue Bella sat in my passenger seat and I had to take her SOMEWHERE! AND it was Friday the 13th! My brain was as much a tempest as the weather I was driving in, tornadoes pounding throughout the area. The white American Bulldog-mix had been confused and terrorized since her family for 6 long years returned her to us at Bullywags, but I worked with her until she loved me, and I loved the chubby goof. Tuesday she was to go to a foster home but her foster became sick and the kennel where she boarded was booked through the holiday weekend so she had to leave there. We volunteers scampered to find another boarding facility and we were about to launch a big plea for needed donations. And then what can only be the loving hand of God moved and a compassionate lady, out of the blue, contacted me and said she’d adopt Bella, so I was driving through the massive storm, to the lady’s home in East Point. But what if Bella didn’t like being moved again? Or didn’t like the lady or her pet German shepherd? What could I do with Bella then? At the lady’s home I walked Bella through the rain as limbs pelted us like shrapnel, scaring big Bella. Inside the warm, lighted house Bella met the lady, met her pet shepherd and
 and
 and loved them immediately, tail wagging, eyes adoring them. The lady sat in a kitchen chair as thunder shook her home, and Bella laid her head in Lynn’s lap and looked lovingly into Lynn’s eyes. “Bella is MINE,” Lynn declared with an angelic smile. Fierce lightning flashed through the kitchen window. But it no longer worried me. God was certainly with us that day!

BullyWag is in desperate need of Foster Families to help care for our dogs while we seek their forever homes! If you have ever considered fostering, now is the time! We cover the costs of food and medical care for each dog that is fostered and are happy to discuss with you how this process works. This is an excellent way for you to make an impact in the lives of one or more dogs 💓💓

We currently have 5 Border Collie mixed dogs that need a foster home! They can be fostered individually or in pairs. They are 16 weeks old currently so they are larger than represented in these pictures. Mom is also below. Please reach out to us at [email protected] to gather any information if you can help!

Meet Jagger 😍😍 Jagger is intelligent, affectionate and sensitive. He absolutely loves going on walks and is very good on the leash. He loves to ride in the car and is quiet in his crate all night. He sits on command and is learning down and stay. He does not have any toy or food aggression and is great with the foster's two cats. Jagger is food motivated and easy to train. He quickly overcame any shyness over using stairs and ramps and medical equipment such as a wheelchair. He looks to his leader for information and shows trust. It would be good for his new owner to be familiar with intelligent breeds like Border Collies. He would be great with an older adult since he does not pull on the leash or even a young family who could take him on hikes. Apply and adopt today at www.bullywaginc.org/adopt

Is There Hope For Scared Rescue Mason?

A lone pup cowering in the corner, leery of strangers, panting. Is there ANY hope that Rescue Mason will EVER wag his tail and be happy? YES! Because I’ve seen his 2 siblings, Bernie and Lilith, do it! A litter of 5 pups were Rescued by BullyWag, Inc. and, as I worked with them, I found 2 of them were happy pups, but 3 were scared. I was able to bond with them and they soon loved being cuddled in my lap. Bernie was adopted by a couple who showed him love, but let him evolve at his own pace, and now he sleeps in bed with them and follows them everywhere. Lilith is being fostered by another couple and now plays with their 2 dogs and, while still leery of strangers, jumps for joy when she sees her fosters. So, at the Petco event, I sat in the pen with Mason in my lap, happy when I hug him and rub his floppy ears, but he hid behind me when a stranger comes close. I tell strangers about how well Bernie and Lilith are doing, and all Mason needs is the love and patience of some kind soul. Maybe YOU?

Rescue Karlie Reunion

Rescue is very rewarding, and holy, doing the Lord’s work, but can sometimes be sadly frustrating as well. Karlie was moved to a less expensive kennel but it's far from me, in Douglasville, so where I used to visit her 3 times a week, we haven't been together for a week and a half. We had a happy reunion at Sunday’s BullyWag, Inc.’s adoptions at Newnan Petsmart. This big, beautiful dog is shy around strangers and it takes a few dedicated minutes to win her confidence. As I sat hugging her in the pen, an obvious smile on her face, when customers rushed over, wanting to love on her --- she hung her head and stared at the floor. When we were alone again, she cuddled me, then laid her head in my lap and took a safe, loving nap. When I’m with her, it is bliss, but trying to get her adopted is

frustrating. Before you reply that I should adopt her --- I can not because my dog Mango is very timid and would be afraid having a big dog in our house.

Three little giggly girl volunteers

Three little giggly girls volunteered to help me set up the pens for Saturday's Bullywags Rescue dog adoptions at PTC Petco. They'd help me then go running up and down the aisles hooting and hollering. As I showed them how to use plastic ties to bind the pens together I explained to them “We do this so there won’t be any gaps the dogs can get their paws stuck in. It’s terrible to hear them scream in pain and fear, understand that?” They nodded and this made me flash back to when I was an APD cop and I felt it important to serve as a good example to kids so they might think of me as a role model. So here was a God-given opportunity to teach these children that animals have feelings of fear, pain, and love. When the pens were set up and filled with our dogs, I invited my young helpers in to play with the pups. “Don’t scare them, let them come to you and they will wag their tails and climb in your lap and give you plenty of kisses!” Such good helpers!

Joyful Visit With Adopted Rescue Angel!

To know Angel is to love her! This snowy-white, blue-eyed Rescue is now happily adopted. Volunteer Laurie Larson, who lives near Angel’s new home, loves walking by it just hoping to happen upon Angel and romp with her again. Volunteer Sonya Coleman Scheibler, who fostered Angel, gets to babysit Angel when her new parents are out of town, and that’s where I got to visit this sweet baby yesterday. Sonya’s 2 big dogs (one also named Angel, and the other named Connor) already love me and love to kiss me and sit in my lap, and happily greeted me at Sonya’s door along with Angel. I sat on the floor and all 3 were all over me, tails wagging as they kissed me until I was laughing. The 2 big Angels sat in my lap at the same time for a while. Such joy! Such bliss! Thank You, Lord, for putting Rescue into my soul! This girl truly IS an Angel!

We are seeking a foster for 3 yr old black Lab mix Raven. Her Mom is very sick and can no longer care for her. She needs a fenced yard and it would be great if her foster works from home.
My name is Raven.
I am a bit shy when it comes to meeting new people, but it doesn’t take long for me to warm up and show you my goofy, loving personality.
I enjoy snuggling on the couch at movie time, but I also like to run outside and soak up the sun
I get along with dogs of all sizes and I am even okay with cats (though they might startle me sometimes)
I absolutely love pets and kisses from my humans!
I am crate trained and need a cozy crate as my safe space.
I would love nothing more than to be your new playmate and cuddle buddy!
Would you consider fostering me?

Candace Cookout Labor Day 2024

It’s become a family tradition, a family of dog Rescue volunteers’ holiday feast and fellowship at Candace’s bright and cheery house in the country, me sitting on the floor loving on a half-dozen former Rescue dogs. A feast of grilled hotdogs, burgers, and sausage, laid out on Candace’s table with potato salad, barbecue chips, loaded potato skins, baked beans, watermelon and more, and for dessert peach cobbler, pie and cake! We volunteers sitting in the living room for hours as we retold stories about dogs we’ve worked with and loved, me sitting in the floor rubbing a formerly abused little dog who snips at everyone but her owner and me; everyone in awe as Frank, with a mysterious grin, recounted his life in the CIA and the exotic locations he’d served in, with Dom chiming in about being in some of the same places when he served in Southeast Asia with the Air Force. With little dogs, and one big older dog, running from volunteer to volunteer happily playing. We talked for hours, and ate. And ate. And ate, till the hot sun started dusking. It wouldn’t be a happy get-together without dogs! Not for Rescue friends like us. After eating several platefuls, sitting on the floor surrounded by sweet Rescue dogs, I went back to holding sweet doggies in my lap.
