We’re Walkin’!!
This big, strong fella is already getting all around and checking things out 🤩
Three girls left! Muffin, Scout and Okie!
Muffin Girl
Muffin!!! She’s such a fun and cute girl. Super laid back and likes to observe, but will jump into action!
Okie
Okie is fast and always ready to play and make sure everyone knows it! She does love a lap to sit on and is super sweet too!
Scout
Scout is really showing a herding instinct, as well as wanting to be the boss and keep order. She’s as sweet as a lamb on your lap and around the house too!
Cooling off at the pond
Ricky takes Dixie out to enjoy the water. Rick is the Grand-dog of this litter!
Like a Boss
If you have a dog from us, this is the Sire of your pup.
Hoss is Here!
BIG news!!!!!!
Yesterday we added a new boy to Wauconda Ranch Working Collies 😍 Wauconda Red came from the beautiful and talented crew at Rockin' Bar Border Collies, Moses Lake, stock dogs.
Really looking forward to seeing him learn and grow here. He is intended for a future stud, and he has already shown us in one day that he has the exact personality I want.
Sending out some little calves
We finally started getting some grass tall enough to turn out! Sophie is really great help at the corrals because he’s is very quiet and precise. She also is handy for keeping small calves moving and out of the fence with her gentle manner, so she came up the road with us to help with these little guys.
These ladies were on a quick trip up the road to the neighbors and Sophie took them most the way alone, we just followed in the UTV, and on foot.
Actually, Sophie is my father in law’s dog, out of Ricky and Lucy. She has had no training other than spending some time with us when we work cows over at his place and doing chores with him daily. She is kind and works quietly, but will get right in there if you ask!
Not too cold for Border Collies!
These guys love the snow.
…and the proud comeback. I missed the power run 🤣
Just a little push, Dad
Ricky, just making sure no one has to overwork themselves with a stray calf. He spends all day out with us, and we talk to him like an adult. He knows what gate we are going to and which cow we need back.
He was sitting on my foot, out of the way, as my husband was just walking this group out. But since that calf stopped to turn back, Ricky chose on his own accord to take care of it for my husband from all the way across the pasture as I video. He’s thoughtful all day long. He stays for hours if we tell him, but we rarely ask him to because he makes the right decisions on his own and he’s soft on the calves. Then, he comes off with one word.
This is nothing award winning. It’s just an example of everyday helpfulness and intelligence. He has had no formal training. None. Ricky came to us a an adoption and had never seen a cow. We just love him, he’s so smart and calm but fast to react when we ask.
