It is officially Summer! While our pets love spending time with us, the warmer weather poses serious health and safety risks--especially when it comes to traveling with your beloved pet.

We had a fantastic visit from Duke and his human! 🐶👕 Duke’s human wore the most adorable custom t-shirt that said “Duke’s Human,” and we couldn't stop smiling! 😍 Duke was such a good boy during his check-up, and the bond between these two is simply heartwarming. We had a truly special day yesterday at Family Pet Hospital of Shawnee! Dr. Van Zandt, the beloved former owner of Sunflower Animal Hospital, along with his wonderful family and their adorable dog Archie, paid us a visit. 🐶❤️ It was so lovely to catch up!

Both heartworm disease and Lyme disease pose significant threats to dogs and cats in our region.

The deadly Heartworm Disease is transmitted through mosquitoes and treatment, when available, is incredibly expensive. This is why we recommend monthly Heartworm prevention all year long.

No judgment here! We love seeing the fun ways families spoil their pets! 😂

These little pugs are living their best life! Did you know? Our brachycephalic (short-nosed) pets need a little extra TLC to keep them comfortable and healthy in the heat. These adorable breeds, like Pugs, Bulldogs, French Bulldogs, and Persian cats, are more prone to overheating. Remember to:

💧 Keep them hydrated with plenty of fresh water.
🌳 Provide lots of shade and avoid midday sun.
🏠 Keep them indoors with air conditioning or fans.
🚶‍♂️ Take short walks and plan for times during the early morning or late evening when it's cooler.
🚫 Never leave them in a parked car, even for a short time.
