Join Melissa’s Second Chances for a sunny afternoon at Somerset Ridge Vineyard and Winery. And you guessed it; they are dog people too! So, bring your social pups and come for a day of fun. This is more than just an adoption event, it's a chance for you to support local, support rescue, and have fun while doing it!

Frisbee has already done the hard part — after being found abandoned in a box with her three kittens and brought to safety by animal control, she devoted herself to raising her babies in foster care. Now that her kittens are thriving and waiting for homes of their own, it’s finally Frisbee’s turn to be the one who’s cherished.

This sweet mama is gentle, quiet, and full of grace. After everything she’s been through, she’s learning to relax and enjoy the simple joys of safety, love, and comfort. Baxter is a total sweetheart with a heart full of love and a head full of cuddles! This tuxedo cutie absolutely adores being held by humans and melts into every snuggle session, whether it’s with you or one of his feline friends at the Café.

Right now, Baxter is on the mend after a minor leg injury and is taking it easy with some cage rest for the next few weeks. He’s allowed out a few times a day for gentle hangouts and cozy couch cuddles—but no zoomies for now! While he’s healing, Baxter is still very much available for adoption. All he needs is a home willing to offer a little extra TLC and patience while he regains his strength.

UPDATE 7/10:

Lily Update 🩷

Lily is doing much better! While she’s not quite back to her energetic self just yet, she’s on the mend and expected to recover over the next few days. We’re so relieved and thankful to share that she’s been discharged from the hospital and is now getting all the love and care from our shelter team.

As a small shelter, we truly know our animals—they become part of our hearts and our family. That’s why moments like this hit especially hard. We’re incredibly grateful to our supporters and community for stepping up to help care for Lily.

This is the second emergency vet case we've faced in just a week, and it’s taken a toll on our finances. If you’d still like to donate to our emergency fund, we would be so appreciative. In rescue, emergencies are never far away, and your support helps us stay ready for whatever comes next.

🚨 Emergency Help Needed for Lily 🚨

Sweet Lily - who has been part of our MSC family since January of 2023 - was taken to Acute Vet in OP. She has been admitted with a condition called HGE (Hemorrhagic Gastroenteritis). It came on suddenly and she’s very sick. She’ll need ongoing monitoring, fluids, and intensive care to recover—and we’re doing everything we can to give her that chance.

But we’re facing a hard time: donations and adoptions are at an all-time low, and our emergency fund is nearly depleted. We can’t do this without your help.

💔 Lily didn’t ask for this. She’s a gentle, loving soul who deserves a chance to heal and find the forever home she’s been waiting for. We love Lily so much.

This sweet Shepherd mix was surrendered through no fault of her own and is now looking for a home filled with love, playtime, and snuggles.

Ketchup is a quiet, loyal companion who adores kids and lights up when she sees her people. She’s housebroken, kennel trained, sleeps great at night, and walks like a dream on leash. Her favorite game? Fetch! (She’s still working on the “drop it” part. 😉)

She’s smart, eager to learn, and has a soft spot for treats — especially when they involve catching Cheerios mid-air. She enjoys other dogs with proper introductions and may do best with a larger or male pup.
