Lady Capulet is a sweet, affectionate young mama who raised her kittens outdoors before a kind Good Samaritan stepped in to help. After being rescued and brought to Melissa's Second Chances, she’s been nothing but grateful for the safety and love she’s receiving.

She enjoys attention, loves being pet, and warms up quickly to new people. She’s done well with children and has a calm, gentle presence that makes her an easy companion. Now that her motherly duties are over, Lady Capulet is ready for a home where she can finally be the one doted on.

Meet Sweet Barnaby!!

Barnaby is a 4-year-old Saint Bernard mix who wandered onto a rural property and was found by a hunter while out in the woods. Despite his rough start, this big boy hasn’t lost his love for people—he absolutely lights up when he gets human attention and wants nothing more than to be near his person.

Barnaby is gentle, friendly, and social. He does great with other dogs and would be happy to have a canine buddy to pal around with. He has been cat tested and was not reactive. With proper introduction he can likely coexist!

This big sweetheart is also smart and eager to please. He can jump a 4-foot fence, so a secure yard or supervised outdoor time will be important—but with his intelligence and desire to connect, he’s the kind of dog who will likely pick up training quickly.

Barnaby’s ideal home is one where he can finally feel safe, loved, and part of a family. If you’re looking for a loyal companion with a soft heart and a gentle spirit, Barnaby may just be your perfect match. 🧡

Update- Ophelia has been FOUND SAFE 🙏. Thank you to everyone for helping to spread the word. Big thank you to her foster for working so diligently to find her. We are so relieved she is safe.

12/7: UPDATE- REUNITED!!!!!!!!!

Ophelia is still missing from her foster to adopt home in Osawatomie, KS.

She has been sighted near the highway and at a church 359th and Plum Rd (map located in comments).

She is a 2yo female approx 50lbs and is very skittish, please do not chase. We need as much help to continue spreading the word to get Ophelia home.

Looking for a happy-go-lucky, playful pup with a heart of gold? Meet Mala, a spirited American Pit Bull Terrier who lives life to the fullest and loves hard.

Whether she’s zooming around the yard with her best friend Bob or curled up for a cozy nap, Mala brings joy and energy to every moment.

Mala is incredibly smart and eager to learn—she already knows the basics and is more than ready to level up her skills (she even helped teach Bob how to sit when foster mom was struggling!). Give her a little time and some treats, and she’ll master any trick you throw her way.

She adores people and greets everyone with full-body tail wags and enthusiastic affection—sometimes a bit too enthusiastically, but she just wants you to know how much she loves you! With a little continued training, she’ll be a perfect mix of manners and exuberance.

Mala coexists with the cats in her foster home, though she prefers when they give her space and don’t run (who can resist a good chase?). She has a dominant personality with other dogs, so she’d likely do best as an only dog or with a calm, submissive canine companion who enjoys active play.

She’s the perfect mix of adventure and chill—Mala loves car rides, walks, and even runs if that’s your thing. But after the fun? She’s all about snuggles on the couch and a good nap. Play hard, relax often is her motto.

If you’re looking for a smart, athletic, loving dog who will make you laugh, keep you active, and snuggle you silly—Mala just might be the one for you.

Mala is eligible for our Foster-to-Adopt program, which means you can take some time to get to know her in your home before finalizing the adoption. It’s a great way to ensure the perfect fit!

🚨 PLEASE READ — URGENT FOSTER NEEDED FOR RUSSO 🚨
Please don’t scroll past Russo. He needs a lifeline. 💔

Russo is not doing well in the shelter. He is deteriorating. Every day chips away at him a little more, and it’s devastating to watch.

Outside of the shelter, you can literally see him come back to life. His eyes brighten, his body loosens, he remembers how to be a dog. But the second he’s back inside, the stress and panic take over again — and it’s worsening.

🐾 Russo’s Story

• Dumped at an area shelter at 5 months old
• Adopted at 6 months, then dumped in a rural area 7 months later
• Adopted again, only to be returned for not doing well with the resident dog
• Moved 11–12 times in under two years

Russo isn’t broken. He’s exhausted from instability and constant loss.

🏡 What Russo Needs in a Foster Home

🤍 Only dog home — He’s friendly passing other dogs and during supervised play, but the instability he’s endured has created resource-guarding around dogs. He needs space to finally exhale.
🤍 Cat-friendly — He has successfully lived with respectful cats.
🤍 Kennel-trained & potty-trained — Easy in the home and understands routine.
🤍 Daily enrichment — A yard or someone committed to walks and playtime.
🤍 A true commitment — Every return to the shelter cracks his spirit a little more. He needs someone willing to see him through until adoption. Russo is not a “problem dog.” He is a dog who has never experienced real consistency — and now he’s shutting down.

💛 What Support You’ll Have as a Foster

• Russo is actively working with a trainer, and we will continue providing professional support for both him and you.
• All supplies provided — anything Russo needs.
• All expenses covered — fostering him is free.

Russo deserves better. He didn’t choose this. And this isn’t a “he’d prefer a home” situation — this is a he cannot keep deteriorating like this situation.
