We've started receiving entries for Mayor Distler's Top Dog Contest and we want YOUR pup to join in, too!

Send us your dog's best glamour shot at [email protected] and register online at cityofshawnee.org/mctf. Registration is $10 and all proceeds go to the Mayor's Christmas Tree fund.

You can submit one entry per dog until August 28. After entries close, the public will vote and the winning pooch will be named Shawnee's Top Dog of 2023 (along with a few other perks)!

As the weather heats up, keep your pets in mind. They get hot too! 🐕

It is unlawful for any person to leave any Animal confined in a vehicle for more than five (5) minutes in extreme weather conditions, being defined as... more than sixty (60) degrees Fahrenheit. 🌞

Make sure to keep your pets safe when going out on car rides!

Yes, we think your animal is cute.... 🐕

But NOT in the front seat on your lap!

It is best to keep your pet restrained in the back seat. The safest choice is a doggy seat belt or harness.

Inattentive driving may be ticketed if you are focused on your pet and not the road.
