Adopt Apollo - a handsome Malinois mix!
✨This is Apollo - he came to the shelter as a stray, so now he’s looking for his forever home! He’s a 3-year-old Belgian Malinois mix, and weighs just over 60 lbs.
🐾He loves to run and play, but will also calm down and roll over on his back for belly rubs😍
🦴He can get a little mouthy and jumpy when overexcited, so he needs a family who has the time and patience to train him to be the best dog he can be! He’ll do best in a home with older kids (10+) who can handle a bigger, high-energy dog.
🐶Most dogs here at the shelter don’t seem to bother him, but a proper introduction with any potential doggy siblings is a must.
🫶Is your home the perfect fit for Apollo? Come meet him at the humane society!

Adopt Rainy!
🐶Meet Rainy - her adoption fee has been sponsored in full! She came from a shelter in upper Michigan and is ready for a fresh start. She’s 2 years old and has had a rough past (she was removed from a neglectful family).
😔Since arriving at HSSC, she’s gotten increasingly frustrated the longer she’s here. Other dogs overwhelm her, which is really unfortunate because she’s SUCH a good girl!
🐾She’s smart and loves to roll in the grass. She’ll do great in a home with older kids (10+) who don’t mind a big, strong dog! At 2 years old she has her fair share of energy, but she also doesn’t mind a good cuddle session here and there. She might be able to get along with another dog in the home as long as it’s a good fit.
🦴Rainy is treat-motivated so she’ll be really fun to train. If you’re looking for a beautiful, sweet, and loving companion to go on adventures with, come meet her at the humane society!

Adopt Max, a handsome GSD!
🐾This is Max - he’s a 5-year-old German Shepherd who was brought to the shelter along with his friend, Shadow, as a stray.
😎Max has bursts of energy, but overall he’s a pretty chill dude! When he’s excited he pulls and jumps a bit, but he quickly settles down once the excitement fades.
🏡He’s friendly with most people, but he might be too much for small kids given his size (86 lbs). He’s great with his friend Shadow (also available for adoption - not bonded), but he tends to be dog selective so if he were to potentially share a home with another dog we’d need a proper introduction first.
🐶Max enjoys pets, scratches, and just hanging out - but he’ll also get playful and likes walks when he has the energy! Does Mr. Max sound like a great fit for your family? Come meet him at the humane society and find out!

✨Adopt Farkle✨
✨This beautiful young lady is Farkle (but her BFF Judy calls her Sparkle). Thanks to our rad volunteer Amber for making this video!
💔She has been in and out of the shelter several times through no fault of her own. She was returned because their owner didn't have time for her. She’s now been waiting almost 6 months for someone to rescue her.
🐶The most special thing about Farkle - besides those gorgeous 10/10 velvet hippo looks - is that she enjoys the company of other dogs! She would love having a doggy sibling, she just needs a proper introduction.
🫶Farkle needs a home without young children (teens and older would be okay). Young children make her very nervous, but she is working on overcoming her fear.
😍Check out Farkle's sparkling personality in this video, while she enjoys a sleepover with our superstar volunteer, Judy, and her family. They have such a special relationship, and Farkle gets a chance to decompress from the stressful shelter environment and play with her puppy bestie.
🐾Farkle would make a wonderful companion, will you take a chance on her? She won't let you down! Farkle is waiting for you here at HSSC!

Adopt Ryan Reynolds!
☺️This happy guy is Ryan Reynolds - he came to the shelter as a stray, and is looking for his forever home. He was adopted out, but then came back because he was getting a bit nippy (a behavior that can be corrected with some training + consistency!).
🦴He's really smart and extremely treat-motivated! He sits patiently while his harness goes on, walks well on a leash, responds to his name, and has great focus even when there are distractions around him. He knows basic commands like sit, stay, leave it, and can shake with both paws.
🫶Ryan has lot so energy and pep in his step - he loves playing with his humans! Some dogs here at the shelter overwhelm him, but there may be a more easygoing dog out there that he could share a home with (as long as there’s a proper introduction, of course).
🐾He has some resource-guarding tendencies when it comes to his food or high-value bones, but as long as you let him eat in peace he’s just fine.
🐶Ryan Reynolds is friendly and loves all people, but he’s a big, strong boy so he may knock over small children due to his size and strength. We recommend kiddos 10+.
👀Is your family a perfect fit for this movie star? Come meet him at the humane society!

Come meet Shadow!
🖤This handsome man is Shadow - he’s a 7-year-old Shepherd who came to the shelter as a stray with his friend Max. He’s a bit more mellow than Max, but he still has some pep in his step!
🐾He gets along with all people, but he’s a big boy (84 lbs) so younger kiddos might not be a great fit.
🐶He gets along with Max really well, but some dogs might not work to share a home with, so a proper introduction to any new dogs is a must.
🏡Shadow is a good walker and would love someone to take him on strolls around the neighborhood!
🫶Can you give Shadow the home he deserves? Come meet him at the humane society!

Adoptable Pup Rose🌹
😍Rose is ready for her forever home, and her adoption fee has been sponsored!! She was surrendered for being a bit too nippy, so the landlord said she could no longer live there.
🫶Rose can be a bit protective of her people, is she’s looking for someone who can give her the assurance that people aren’t a threat - they’re friends! Please don’t let her barking at the kennel scare you away - she’s really sweet once she’s out!
😍She can be shy at first, but once she gets to know you, she’s the most amazing cuddle dog who will nuzzle into your chest for affection. She’s been going to training, and she’s so smart!
🌹Staff and volunteers are working with Rose to help her trust people again. She knows sit, lie down, and she even stays for short periods of time! She looks so cute when she sits or stands on her back legs, and has the best little piggy snorts.
🐾Because of her history of being overprotective and nippy around kids, a home with older kids will be best. She needs to be the only dog in the home. She will also really thrive in a quiet home that doesn’t get frequent visitors, and with a family who can give her time and patience!
👀Are you and Rose a perfect match? Come meet her at the humane society!

🌼Adopt Daisy!🌼
🌼This sweet lil’ flower is Daisy! She’s a very cute 3-year-old, 45 lb Shepherd mix who came from another shelter in Upper Michigan as a stray. And now she’s ready for a fresh start!
🌳Daisy is a fun and active girl with a big personality. She loves going for walks (and does great on a leash). If you need an accountability buddy to keep you active, Daisy is your girl! Maybe lots of hikes and outings are in your future?
🥰After an adventure, she’s super sweet and loves to give snuggles and kisses. The best of both worlds!
🐶Daisy needs to be in a cat-free home but another dog is possible as long as the meet and greet is successful. Some of the dogs here at the shelter get her a bit overexcited. She’ll do okay in a home with older kids (7+) as long as they’re able to handle a high-energy dog.
🐾Daisy is waiting to meet you at the humane society - come see her this week!

Behind the Scenes
These are the bright spots in our day at the shelter, when we get to have furry visitors in the office. This little Grizzly Bear, AKA an 8 wk old Chow Chow, is hanging out in the office getting a lot of love. His sibling was just adopted as a same day adoption and he is lonely. His family is coming to get him on Friday. Yes, this cutie is ADOPTED and is NOT available. In the meantime we will make sure he gets lots of love and isn't lonely. This is one of the reasons many of us love what we do at the shelter.
If you missed out on these two cuties, we remind people to always watch our available pets on our website each day. You never know what may get brought in on any given day. Visit: https://adoptsheboygancounty.org/adopt-foster/
HSSC places animals on a first come, first serve basis. After an animal that is available for adoption has been met with, and only then, the animal’s name can be put on an application. The animal that is applied for must be adopted within 24 hours of approved application. Exceptions will be made if any animal needs a medical procedure, but then will need to be adopted within 24 hours of being cleared from that procedure. HSSC reserves the right to accommodate alternate timelines for special needs/behavioral issue animals.
Please adopt Rusty🤞
🐾Rusty is available for adoption! He’s a friendly and energetic 6.5-year-old Plott Hound mix who was surrendered to the shelter when the only family he’s ever known could no longer afford the medicine and food for his skin allergies. He has skin allergies and hyperthyroidism, so he does require medication to help me keep that in check
🫶Rusty LOVES people and lived with children in his previous home. He’s quite the talker with lots to say, but he’s getting better about staying quiet while he’s in his kennel. Rusty is struggling with the shelter environment and could use a home of his own ASAP.
🎾Rusty’s previous owner told us he loves to play ball, tug-of-war, and chase! He was very well-behaved in his previous home. He can be left alone for hours and is fully potty trained. We were also told his best traits are that he’s very attentive and observant! He also lived with young kids and did well with them.
🐶He doesn’t really pay much attention to the other shelter dogs, so he could probably have a doggy sibling as long as there’s a proper introduction first.
😌Rusty needs a loving home where he can settle in and be his sweet self. Are you the family for him? Come meet him and find out!

Adopt Rusty!
😍Our incredible volunteers Ryan and Dana took adoptable pup Rusty out for an adventure last weekend! He had the time of his life with Water, prairie grass, deer, chipmunks, and countless other sights and smells. He did great in the car, although he does like to sing - he's a hound, after all!🤣

Celebrate Earth Day by showing others a good example of taking care of your pet and the earth! Take a fresh air stroll with your pet and pick up litter and trash on the way.
When taking your pet on walks or to the park, make sure you are prepared to properly dispose of your pet’s waste. Before leaving the house, consider bringing a pooper scooper or clipping one of those small recyclable poop bag dispensers to your furry friend’s leash.
Some of our dogs prefer soft treats instead of hard treats. A few of our seniors have a hard time with hard treats. While you are out shopping please consider picking up a bag of soft treats to share with your friends at the Humane Society of Sheboygan County.
