Shelburne Village Dog Park Survey
As we make plans for 2023 we are interested in how many people use the park. We would like to know if people are aware that the park sits on a Class II Wetland. There are many restrictions we must meet in order to maintain the dog park. The most important aspect is that we are not permitted to cut vegetation unless it is to remove invasive plants. There are times when the park is difficult to visit. We would like to get feedback that we can use in future planning.

SEEKING DOG PARK COMMITTEE MEMBERS
If you love dogs and are a frequent user of the park, we invite you to consider joining the Shelburne Village Dog Park Committee! We currently have one committee opening. We meet once a month, in the evening for 1.5 hours at the Shelburne Town Offices.
The mission of the Shelburne Village Dog Park Committee is to "work on behalf of the Town to provide and promote a secure and pleasant place where dogs can run off-leash in a natural environment that is fenced and where dog owners and dogs can socialize near the Village of Shelburne". At this time the park is actively being enjoyed by dogs and owners alike, in a more natural environment now required by the state.
If you're interested in joining our committee, please contact chairman Bob Owens: [email protected]

If you visit the park you will notice that the north end of the park is cordoned off with construction tape. We look forward to receiving approval of our permit from the Department of Environmental Conservation for the continued use of the park.
One of the state requests was to reduce the size of the park and return a section to its natural state. By doing this we will not have to restore the rest of the park.
The tape is approximating the new location of the northern boundary. We expect to be moving the fence sometime this summer.

If you go to the park, you might notice that the shed and the benches have been removed. The park is open, we are removing items to be in compliance with the State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC). The park property is a Class II Wetland and we are working to keep the park open by working with the DEC to meet their requirements.
We will post updates to what's happening as we work with the DEC in the coming weeks. 🐕

Even though the park supplies bags for clean-up, why not bring your own plastic bags and save the park some money? The bags that your newspapers come in work great.
Thank you!

Have you been to the park?

Last week, the dog park's principal donor donated Monkton Quartzite rocks to Town to create a new entrance for the dog park. This rock is one of the most distinctive formations in the Champlain Valley first formed 400-500 million years of age along the shore of a warm, shallow Ocean.

Phase 1, the moving and placing of the rocks has been completed. Stand by for more phases as your membership dollars and donations help create a beautiful and warm welcoming entrance to the Shelburne Village Dog Park.
