This video comes from a brave but nervous dog mom! Leah and Nova started in Puppy Preschool at @happytailsrule with @katethepuppycoach last summer. After preschool she enrolled in a Resident Training Program with us to get some “formal help”.
Every client at Happy Tails that enrolls in a Resident Training Program gets group classes included. The point of the group classes is to give clients an opportunity to get out and about in the real world and utilize their new training skills with the help of trainers! Getting into that first class is always super nerve-racking for any client! So every time we have a new person attending, I always give a little peptalk to let them know that the first class is always going to be the hardest and the dog is probably going to be the worst at that class because it’s not a familiar environment. But that’s the whole point of coming to these things!!!
When you hire a trainer to help you with your issues in life, they shouldn’t only be solved inside of a training classroom. They should be able to transfer out to the rest of the world, but it’s also not as easy to always do that. That’s why we offer this kind of support to our clients!
It takes some guts to show up and I applaud Leah for not letting her nerves get the best of her!! She stayed, she conquered and she survived!
She tells her story from her perspective so take a listen. Especially if you are someone who is a graduate of Happy Tails and is nervous to get to your first advanced group class!
One thing that I want to add that Leah did not mention in her story is midway through the event our local police and fire departments were leading the group walk. They were blaring their sirens and then the activity began - everyone started moving. Leah told me that Nova was struggling with that amount of chaos so she worked through it as positivity as possible and then ended the event a little on the early side so she could advocate for Nova and end before it b
AHHHHH!!!! Do I scream or cry?!?! After Puppy Preschool at Happy Tails this morning I set off to the Utica Puppy Parade! It was a chaotic sh*tshow to say the least 😆🤣😂 We had a good handful of Happy Tails graduates there and they were BOSS!!!!!!! I am BEYOND PROUD of those who came and conquered. I am so grateful and proud of you guys 🥹🥹
Shadow is advancing quickly getting to some off leash goals during his training. #happytailsrule
Wow wow wow. Volume up!!! Meet Libby! She is a two-year-old wild child! This dog has the sweetest, most loving temperament but mannnn, does she party hard! Jim and Marjorie came to Happy Tails for a consultation about a month ago. They were desperate for help because she was literally pulling them all over…. Including right to the ground! In fact, as soon as they walked into the consultation room, Libby wrapped Marjorie up and brought her right to the floor. Fast forward just a few weeks later and WOW! Look at Libby and Jim! They came in today for their second follow up post residency. We asked them how things have been going at home and they reported “zero issues! She’s doing AMAZING!” 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻 It’s a happy tale! 🩷
Meet Ethan! He’s 2 1/2 years old and walking his Happy Tails trained dog in a “heel” (listen closely at the very beginning of the video and he’s proposing Sprout saying “really good heel!” 😍)
Dr. Nikki from VCA Animal Hospital in Clinton Twp has done some training with all 3 of her dogs at Happy Tails and/or our sister company Fit Dog Canine Fitness & Wellness @fitdog 🧡 We love Dr. Nikki, Ethan, her 3 dogs including
@seymourseesnomore and we love VCA ☺️
We’re taking a road trip on Friday with all 3 dogs! I had Pickles, Ginger & Wasabi adjusted today so we can make the drive more comfortable.
They get adjusted monthly just to maintain healthy alignment because I always want my dogs feeling, performing and moving their best. It’s always easier to do chiropractic care as a preventative to having issues as opposed to waiting until you “need” one.
Start off the new year right and schedule a consultation with Dr. Grant or Dr. Christina of Advanced Animal Chiropractic. You will love them and your dog will too 🩷 @advancedanimalchiro
Kona girl is back for advanced boarding! 🤩😍 She’s getting her fit dog on & loving every second of it 🧡 #fitdogsrule #happytailsrule #fitdogmi #fitdogsofig
Today I (Kate) jumped on to talk to veterinary staff, groomers and dog owners who have dogs that are shy, nervous, insecure or have been aggressive at their vet or groomer. I give advice on how to advocate for your dog and I break down “The Ladder of Aggression” to explain how aggression develops, and how dogs respond to things they are uncomfortable with.
