Welcome to our page! Here at Wright’s Golden Beauties we specialize in breeding beautiful Golden Retrievers that are raised in a wonderful, loving, and caring home environment. A few years ago, we learned that quality Golden Retrievers were hard to find in this local area. We had begun the research process of finding a service dog for our youngest boy, who is a Type 1 Diabetic. With the difficulty in finding healthy, calm, and stable Golden’s we set out on our journey that has led us to meet some amazing people. Once you are part of the Wrights Golden Beauties family, you are forever one of us.
Mr. Wilson is our newest stud dog. He is a beautiful English cream, light cream in color and unless an outside stud is used, is the father to our litters. He has an extremely happy go lucky attitude and has produced some amazing pups so far.
Harper is our smallest golden but man, she has the biggest heart. She is a beautiful rich golden color. She loves the other dogs but her absolute favorite thing is her people. She will sit for hours by your side as long as you are petting or even just resting your hand on her. She loves all the attention.
Our final girl is Natasha. She will be bred for the first time in July of 2020. She is a beautiful light cream color and is a daughter of our very own Dexter and Nala. She inherited her mother’s love of lounging and her father’s love of the outdoors, so we are excited to see what she will produce.
Now a little about the humans that are involved!
Tommy, the old man of the family, started this truthfully on accident. He didn't realize what was involved and was not prepared for puppies that came in the end of 2013 and we came home from vacation to a litter of pups. That's how this all started. By this time, his youngest son, Jake was a type 1 diabetic for a little over two years. We knew that a service dog would make his life so much easier when he got older and looking at what that was going to entail, he realized it was going to be a long expensive journey if we didn’t raise the pup ourselves. So after that first litter of pups, we started this journey and have realized that we truly love these dogs and he is enjoying being able to spoil them day in and day out. He does this all because he wants to help other people by getting high quality dogs to their perfect homes.
Now Marla, she's a bossy little thing. When this all started she realized that her parents weren’t going to be able to take care of raising 4 children, and all the dogs especially when one of the children required extra attention. So, she stepped right in without question. Well, she really just took over because she is bossy but, everyone still loves her :). She is a huge animal lover and does this because she understands the importance of the bond a dog and their human has. She loves all animals really and spends more time with animals than people. While Tommy took care of the dogs, her ability to communicate with people allowed her to help expand the business making it grow to what we have today. So, aside from the last couple months (because quarantine and life) she is who you talked too! Megan, (Thank heavens above for her) has been the best addition to our family no question. Most of you will also meet Marla’s trusty sidekick Oliver, a goldendoodle who we bred and kinda rocks (not partial to him or anything). If you couldn’t tell by this blurb she talks a lot and randomly has what we lovingly call, squirrel moments. So, don’t judge her she just gets over excited sometimes, kinda like our trusty Goldens.
Lastly there’s Megan. She came to us while on the search for her service dog. She had talked to several breeders and trainers and her path led straight to us. We got to know each other and she put her name down on the waitlist to receive a puppy. In October of 2017 Miss Lola was born from a match between Sir Dexter and Miss Nala. From the start it was clear this pup was something special. She had all the traits of a service dog. Calm and steady demeanor, confidence in new situations, and an innate ability to sense people’s emotions. When it came time for her testing Lola checked all the boxes and was matched with Megan. After 2 long years of training Lola and Megan are a full-fledged service dog team. Megan now helps us with our administrative duties as well as anything else we may need. She also helps administer the puppy tests at 8 weeks looking closely at what each puppy brings to the table. She has a background in Veterinary Technology and we are so glad all our paths crossed the way they did. She is truly an irreplaceable member of this team and she has helped us in so many ways over the last two years. She really is part of our crazy family and we wouldn’t trade her for the world! It does help that we really love Lola! :)
Golden Retriever vs English Cream Golden Retriever: What does this even mean???
I am sure many of you have heard the term English Cream Golden Retriever. The name “English Cream Golden Retriever” is the most common name given to the light colored European Goldens in America. The term actually does not mean that all English Cream Goldens are imported from England. So why are they called English Cream Golden Retrievers? The two major breed standards in the Golden Retriever world today are the AKC (American Kennel Club) and the KC (British Kennel Club) standards. “English Cream Golden Retrievers” are the name given to Goldens that have been bred with the British Kennel Club standards in mind. English-type Goldens are bigger-boned and stockier, with a more square head and/or muzzle. They also are generally heavier than their American counterparts. The British Kennel Club standard calls for a level topline and straight hindquarters without the slight rear angulation found in the American lines. The American standard calls for strong and level from the dog's withers to a slightly sloping croup. In both standards there is no clear answer to how big the head should be in comparison to the rest of the body, generally speaking you will see a smaller head on American Goldens and larger, blocky type heads on English Cream Goldens. Another characteristic difference is the foreface and muzzle. AKC standard wants a straighter muzzle where the foreface should be nearly the length of the skull. This results in a smaller more cone shaped muzzle. For English Cream Goldens the KC standard wants the length of the foreface to be approximately equal to the distance between the stop and the occiput. This results in having bigger, wider muzzles and also usually stronger jaws. Below is a picture of an American Golden and English Cream Golden together to give you an idea on shape differences.
No matter which Golden you prefer we can all agree they are amazing dogs! All of our dogs come with the ability to be registered by the American Kennel Club. There are two different types of registration. Full and limited. Our puppies are sold on limited registration. Limited registration is for people and dogs that are going to be pets, hunting companions, or show in other AKC sanctioned events. The dog cannot be bench (dog show) confirmation shown since that is a “showcase” of breeding animals only. They can however, enter and gain points and titles in “activity” related events, such as rally, field trials, agility, fly ball, dock dog, obedience, or even scent trails! Several of our dogs have gone on to do this. A dog with limited registration papers is registered, the only difference is that his or her puppies cannot be registered. The AKC gives you unlimited access to resources, a training hotline, and access to AKC clubs around each state.
Ferguson’s Law:
Ferguson is one of our beautiful babies who was born in the fall of 2017. He was donated to a trainer in the Lexington area to be raised/trained for a special person as a service dog. Unfortunately, that person fooled several people and Ferguson found himself in the hands of a human who was very unkind. Thanks to angels from above he was rescued by a local Lexington rescue group and after a 3 month court battle to get him returned to us he is back where he belongs. He is living with a family member and is blossoming into the dog he was destined to become.
To ensure that nothing like this ever happens again to any of our dogs, we have built in some extra precautions. All our dogs come with a microchip that we cover the cost of. We walk you through setting up the account and cover the basic cost of registration. The only request we have is that you leave us as an alternate contact. This ensures that if something ever happens (dog gets lost, gets surrendered to shelter, or rehomed) we have the ability to get the dog back. This is also an added piece of mind for you should the dog get away while you are out of town, we will be able to go get them and care for them until you return. The initial cost of registration is on us, there is a $10 co-owner registration that you can choose to add if you wish. We will NEVER take the dog from you. If you have any questions or concerns about this please do not hesitate to reach out to us. We want to make sure we are transparent with all our families.
Pricing:
Our puppies are all $1000 with limited registration. We do offer first a responder and military discount, so please ask about that if it pertains to your family. Puppies come with the first set of shots by our veterinarian, wormed, health record, food sample, microchip, blanket with mom and siblings smell, puppy packet, 1 year health guarantee, and of course lifetime breeder support.
The 1 year health guarantee means that should for any reason the dog pass away or become extremely ill from health reasons that are genetic in nature you will be given the first pick of the next litter free of charge. Should the dog still be alive we will take possession of the dog to ensure they do not end up in the shelter.
Should full registration be requested this is something that can be discussed but is never guaranteed. There would be a price difference for that as well.
Our process:
Our process:
Purchase a waiting list spot at $40.00.
Submit your information after purchase.
We will then send the puppy request form to be filled out and sent back ensuring that your family is a fit for what we are looking for in our Wrights Golden family.
We will review it and let you know if there are any concerns or issues.
Once puppies are one week old we will work our way down the waitlist and contacting you that we have a puppy of your desired s*x available. If you did not specify a specific s*x, that’s okay you will not be passed over we will still hold a spot in the litter for you.
When we contact you and you decide to proceed with getting a puppy, a $300 nonrefundable deposit will be required at that time. You will have 72 hours to place your deposit before we move on to the next person in line.
The $300 is deducted from the total price of $1000. The remaining balance of $660 is due in cash at pick up.
Please ask about our first responder/military discount
Puppies are temperament checked at 8 weeks old and matched with their new families based on their personalities and desired s*x. If you did not specify which s*x you will be matched with the best puppy that fits your family.
We temperament test and match puppies as part of our goal to place our dogs into the best possible homes where they fit the best. Using this method we have had tremendous success.
If for any reason, you cannot keep the dog it is to be returned to us (with no refund) and we will ensure they find a new loving home. You will sign a contract stating this before you take your new puppy home. Our goal is to never allow any of our dogs to end up in the shelter.
