My husband Terry and I moved to our acreage in NE Iowa 37 years ago. We started with two pygmy goats and loved them, but discovered their dairy counterparts the Nigerian Dwarfs in 2000. We had some of the first of the breed in Iowa and have watched their popularity grow especially in the last 5 years. Our herd name is now permanently registered with the ADGA. Our herd tested negative in the fall o

f 2023 for CAE, CL and Johnes. We dam raise our babies, but handle them daily so they are people friendly without being obnoxious.

Gemma, Panda and I spent the morning at this great apple orchard. They have gifts, treats and so much more than apples! Come visit to pick your own or get some already picked. We had fun taking photos. My shirt says "My goat rides shotgun." So true. ๐Ÿงน๐ŸŽƒ๐Ÿ

Part TWO of dating pairs for 2025 kids. We have 5 does who will be bred to our handsome, blue eyed, polled and moon spotted 4 year old buck Black Eagle Ranch Mr. Cashman. We will be breeding Scream and Lavendar likely for the last time due to their age. Sky and Cinnamon will freshen for a third time and Panda will be a FF. All does except Lavendar have blue eyes. We have reservations for bucklings from Lavendar and Panda. We also have a reservation for 1st pick doelings from Panda, Lavendar and Scream. If you'd like to be added to the list please DM me or email [email protected].

This information would normally also be found on our web page but it has been compromised by someone in an African country b/c of our name, so ALL info on goats will now be here. ๐Ÿค“
Here is the first set of pairings for 2025 kids likely to arrive in March. We have three does in this round with Roamn Ranch Blu Octavian. Two, (Gemma and Copper Penny) will be first fresheners, the other (Satin Nickel) is a 2nd freshner. We do have someone on our reserve list who would like a chocolate Swiss moon spotted doeling, but we have room for reservations from Gemma and second picks for chocolate Swiss moonspotted doelings and bucklings in this group. Please reach out with a DM or email at [email protected].

We're celebrating the legacy of our herd queen Lavendar. I fell in love with this beauty when I first saw her in 2016 at J & K Farm in Moulton, Iowa. Since then she has produced many beautiful, chocolate Swiss babies, three of which I have retained. Her most famous doeling is Cookiedoe who has won numerous awards at several county fairs in western Iowa. Her two year old, Satin Nickel freshened with twin bucklings in February. One year old Copper Penny will be bred for 2025 kids. 7 month old Sixpence will show as a dry yearling and then be bred for 2026 kids. I'm on the fence about breeding Lavendar one last time. Stay tuned.๐Ÿฅฐ

We're bursting with pride after the results from the Iowa State Fair. Our friend Brantley and Black Eagle Ranch Roxy took home a purple ribbon in the 6 month and younger Nigerian Dwarf doeling class. They just missed the champion drive. Here's what that ribbon means in 4H. (Superior) A purple is awarded to those entries that have met and far exceed the average standards established for that particular class. Until now, none of our goats has received a purple ribbon at the Iowa State Fair. Way to go Brantley!

We're sending lots of love and congrats to one of our favorite goat families. These are members of the Miller family from North Iowa's Mitchell County. We were first introduced in 2018 when momma Jessie brought Madison and Maci for a visit. They purchased Black Eagle Ranch Lady Thelma. Now at 6 years old she took home Overall Grand Champion Dairy Doe at the fair that wrapped up in early August. Thelma's daughter Charlie and grand daughter Marg also won ribbons in their respective classes. Madi (left) is also the Mitchell County Beef Queen. Congrats! ladies.

As the Iowa State Fair gets underway, we wish the best of luck to our friend Alyssa Olson who is representing Winnebago County in the State Fair Queen competition. We've known Alyssa and her family for 6 years after she and her sister Elizabeth were awarded doelings in the Iowa Dairy Goat Association's Share A Kid program. Alyssa and her siblings have done an excellent job of showing their goats and are also very skilled at showing dogs. Best of luck Alyssa! We're rooting for you. ๐Ÿ‘ธ

We have great news to share from one of the last county fairs before the Iowa State Fair begins Thursday. Our 2021 Share A Kid winner, Lydia Enenbach won the Senior Doe class with Black Eagle Ranch Indigo and took home Reserve Grand Overall Dairy Doe. This the first year Lydia has shown a doe in milk. Her brother Brandon won Reserve Grand Junior Doe with Black Eagle Ranch Moon Flower. He also won Intermediate Showmanship. Great job on a very hot day! ๐Ÿฅฐ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ…๐Ÿ†๐Ÿต

Today we celebrate our beautiful 5 year-old doe CookieDoe. From the time she was donated to the Iowa Dairy Goat Association 'Share A Kid' program, to Ben Langel at Langel Back Acr3s, she has been a star. She has won Grand Champion and Reserve Champion honors for both herself and as a team member for Showmanship. Here are some highlights of her time with the Langel family. Most recently Cookie won Reserve Champion Senior Doe at the Shelby County Fair with Ella. Good job Cookie, you make us proud!

Handing out mad respect for our friend Alex Flick. She is not only the Dairy Superintendent, she is also conducting an outreach session for fairgoers. The judge on Friday was more than an hour late so we weren't able to stay for the whole show. We did get a good feel for the behind the scenes atmosphere and were very impressed with Alex, the 4Hers and the support team of family and friends. ๐Ÿ‘ As a bonus, our former Share A Kid winner Alyssa Olson is the Winnebago County Fair Queen.

In 2017 I had the honor of interviewing Dr. Pol. It was a delightful conversation that I wish had lasted more than 15 minutes. After our conversation, his agent asked for my address and a week later, this autographed photo arrived in my mailbox. He and his family and the staff are a class act. I will miss watching them every Saturday night, but wish him well as he steps away from the camera. ๐Ÿ˜Œ๐Ÿ˜˜
