🚨 Health Alert: Avian Influenza & Cats 🚨
Avian influenza can affect cats, causing respiratory disease and neurologic symptoms. Unfortunately, infection can be fatal. The most common way cats contract the virus is by consuming raw meat from infected birds. Outdoor cats that hunt or come into contact with waterfowl are also at risk.
⚠️ Important Facts:
🐱 Avian influenza is zoonotic, meaning humans can also become infected.
🐄 While Idaho has not had a confirmed feline case, positive cases have been found in dairy cattle.
If you have questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Your pet’s health is our priority! 🏥🐾

❤️Happy Monday❤️
Shelley Veterinary Hospital and their clinic kitties were blessed to start the week. You may remember Ace, our Ace Hardware stray with the fractured femur (who also earned himself some new hardware). Thanks to family and friends, Ace was transported to Montana where he will join a fellow veterinarian’s household. This sweet boy is off the streets for good and ready to be pampered by his people!
Biggie is pending adoption with a resident to resume a barn cat position..local mice beware!
New resident Carl is off to a new home tomorrow and Bessie is spayed, vaccinated, dewormed and will soon be available at BHS for adoption! If you are looking for a Holstein aesthetic, she’s your girl!
Our hearts are so full to see our continued care and hard work to find these kitties a soft place to land become a reality. Incredibly thankful to our many Angel Fund donors who make these cases possible ❤️
