Maverick took his first swim last night! He only hesitated once then was swimming like an old pro. I just love the confidence on this boy.
Belle helped Duke work on his honoring yesterday. Now that we don't have any girls in heat, Duke is getting back to his normal self, and we can start working him again. Typically, girls in heat don't affect him too much, but this last time around really did a number on him. So happy that he is getting back to normal and able to be worked again.
Nothing beats finding a good stick on your walk in the woods when you're a puppy!
Since we had an empty kennel on the truck yesterday, Holly got to go to the hunt test with us. She did so well. She was quiet in the kennel and was excited to check everything out when I walked her around. After the test was over, I took her to one of the ponds and worked her a bit. She has never seen a pond with lots of cover in it, but it did not phase her one bit! She jumped in eager for every retrieve. She should be able to run in hunt tests next spring once she has some more training put into her. Her future looks promising!
It is tradition when you title your dog in HRC that you get a bucket of water poured on you. Since Elsie titled yesterday I was part of the bucket line up last night. Thanks to Leona who made sure I received the entire bucket of water and seemed very excited to get the chance to pour the water on me!
Yesterday was a great day full of visiting with friends, running dogs, earning titles, and making memories. ❤️
Elsie working with her dad tonight. She is getting steady for her marks and Duke is doing a great job honoring other dogs while they work. So fun working this dad and daughter together tonight. ❤️

I know these aren't golden retrievers, but the views we saw today were too stunning not to share! Grand Teton National Park was STUNNING!!! We will reveal the reason behind our trip tomorrow!
Sunday afternoon POV. This was one of my favorite movie as a kid and I'm so blessed to be watching it as an adult with my own girls and our goldens. Holly was also a BIG FAN of this movie.
Today Duke, Reba, Elsie, and Skye attended their first Barn Hunt Trial! They had a great time and are learning the game. Duke, Reba, and Skye all earned their Instinct Title (RATI) and Duke earned two passes to his Novice Title (RATN)! We are hopeful he will title tomorrow! Skye missed having a qualifying run this afternoon by just a second or two!
Elsie is in heat so she is a bit distracted and not quite her normal self, but is still doing a good job hunting. Qualifying runs or not, I'm proud of how all our dogs performed today! They had a great time and learned a lot! Tomorrow is a new day to try again!
This video is of Duke's first qualifying run today! In novice, they have to go through the tunnel, climb on a bale and find one rat. Great job Duke! 🐀
Reba, Skye, Elsie, and Duke went to their second barn hunt practice! They all did well, but Elsie is crazy about this sport! I think she will do well at her trial next month!
Today four of our dogs got to try Barn Hunt for the first time! Reba, Skye, Elsie, and Duke all had a great first introduction and did well for their first time. If all goes well we will be going to our first Barn Hunt trial next month. Thank you Julie for video! Our practicing location made pictures and video difficult. This is Duke doing his Novice practice run.
It's Duke's birthday! He is now 4 years old and is the best boy! We love this wonderful guy so much!
Just two left! Soon Finnick will be picked up by his new family and Holly will start adjusting to her life without all her siblings.
