Jeff was working on one of our blinds in the house and Maverick just jumped right into it! One day he will be hunting out of it when he is a little more mature and has more training on him.

Today Maverick earned his first title! He earned his AKC Trick Dog Novice (TKN) title! This is a fun title to earn and teaching Maverick some tricks has helped keep his mind busy during these rainy days we have been having.

He is now Red Thunder's Talk To Me Goose TKN (pending AKC approval)!

It's a very wet day here in the PNW, and it's far too wet for the puppies to play outside today. They still got to go on a car ride though!

Today was a big day for Elsie! She went on her very first duck hunt!

I was blown away by how well she did. She was tuned into me the whole time waiting for my next direction. She was quiet in her blind and very patient! She had a really great time and it was so rewarding watching all of our hard work pay off. So proud of our Elsie girl!

To say Maverick enjoyed his trip into Tractor Supply would be a huge understatement! He is one of the most confident dogs I've ever handled and I haven't found one thing he has had an issue with. Doesn't care about the shopping cart being pushed while leading him, no problem with loud, weird sounds, LOVES strangers (What is a stranger? This word doesn't exist in Maverick's world?), acted sensible when the little dog behind us in line was whining because he couldn't play with Maverick, and was just an overall good boy!

I couldn't get any good pictures of him looking at me because he was too into being in everyone else's business. 🤣

Weaning is going well! The puppies have graduated to soaked kibble and Skye is enjoying some well deserved breaks throughout the day away from her puppies. The puppies would much rather nurse from Skye but are learning to enjoy their kibble meals and are gaining weight well! I weighed them today so I could give them deworming medicine again. Their weights are as follows:

Pink 6lbs 11oz
Purple 5lb 15oz
Blue 6lb 3oz
Yellow 6lb 8oz
Orange 5lb 12oz

In case you are wondering what I have been up to, I have been working on our plans for our 2025 litters. So much goes into planning a breeding and each breeding requires a large amount of research.

It is important to consider the goal of the litter... what are you hoping the puppies can do? What traits do you want in your puppies and likewise what traits do you not want? Would it be best to be a live cover breeding, or should it be an artificial insemination breeding?

Then you research studs to find a great match for your female. Are there any traits you are hoping the male can better in your female? What is the longevity of the lines? How far back does the health testing go in the lines? What titles should be in the lines to help you achieve your goals for the litter? What dogs are in the lines and would the pairing result in a COI (coefficient of inbreeding) that is too high?

We are still making decisions on our 2025 litters, but I'm excited about some of the options I'm considering! I hope to have some decisions made and announced in December. Stay tuned to see what exciting things we have planned for next year!

Yellow Girl is ALWAYS the center of attention! Could they be any cuter?

The puppies played outside for a bit then came inside for lunch! They were feeling very spicy and all fell asleep shortly after this!

While the puppies eat, I use my handheld vacuum to clean up their pen. They don't mind it at all and usually just try to play with the vacuum. 🤣

Skye's puppies are 5 weeks old today!

These puppies are just TOO ADORABLE! They are 4.5 weeks old and just having the time of their lives. Today they went for a car ride, had their pen expanded, were introduced to an open crate, had their nails clipped, and have gotten LOTS of loves and snuggles.

SkyeXDuke litter almost four weeks old!

The puppies are doing well with their litter box training so I expanded their pen a bit. If they regress then we make their pen smaller again. They didn't mind the vacuum running right outside their pen at all!

Enjoy lunchtime with our puppies! Today I moved them into our kitchen for the puppies to eat their lunch. This worked out great as they were right next to the blender while I was preparing their food, and I unloaded the dishwasher while they ate. These pups will get lots of exposure to different things over the next few weeks! What do you think will they experience next?
