BEAU is Dog of the Week
Meet BEAU! He is a 74 #, 2-year-old (Birth April 2022), Lab / Husky mix boy who has a beautiful and sleek black coat with an expressive tail!

Beau is a loving, independent, and shy at first. He would make a great companion and family dog. Children in the home should be 13+ due to his active nature, he is dog social with proper introduction, and cats are unknown. A secure fenced yard is required to keep him safe and happy!

Here are notes from his foster home: Beau is athletic, loving, and a protective dog that likes to be outside. He loves to run, go on walks, and when he sees you he will greet you with a happy jump, spin, and lean into you for a hug! Beau is a sensitive and shy dog that enjoys being brushed, belly rubs, and listening to you read him stories. He knows sit, shake, lay down, and is learning heal. He is happy to hang out with you to be part of whatever it is you are doing.

MOLLY is Dog of the Week!

Meet MOLLY! She is a 38 #, 3-Year-Old, Hound / Terrier mixed girl who hails from Texas! She is Sammy's Momma!

Notes from Molly's TX Foster:

Molly is an energetic and affectionate girl who enjoys running and playing. She loves attention and will be a very loyal companion. She adores her humans and can’t wait to be petted and loved. She enjoys chewing on toys and bones. She plays with toys, but hasn’t yet decided that she wants to “fetch” anything.
Molly does well in a crate. She’s been transported in her crate in the car and settles down quickly. This girl is up for any adventure and enjoys walks. She is cautious around other dogs when face-to-face, but has not been aggressive. Molly barks and runs toward our cats and chickens if they get too close to the yard fence. So supervision and restraint is definitely needed around small animals. Molly is sweet and has a happy disposition. She will make a great addition to an active and loving household. A secure fenced yard is required to keep her safe and happy!

LARA is Dog of the Week!!

Meet LARA! She is a 33 #, 2-Year-Old, Australian Cattle Dog who hails from Texas!

Notes from Lara's TX Foster:

Lara is quite the character! She is full of energy and loves other dogs. Cats are unknown, but kids are a must! I advise children 5 plus unless the family knows the temperament of heelers. She loves to herd and she does soft nipping when she is following behind you. Lara loves toys, is kenneled trained and has good recall. She will get on top of furniture (tables) when she doesn’t think you are looking, more to check out the view than anything else. She isn’t destructive with toys or furniture/pillows. She is a couch potato, snuggle bunny and wants to be everyone’s friend. Rides well in a car. Not the greatest on a leash, but learning even around too many distractions. She ?gured out our dog door immediately and is house trained. Y’all will love her very Happy Disposition, and absolutely wants to please. A secure fenced yard is required to keep her safe and happy!

MAIA Dog of the Week!

Meet MAIA! She is a 55 #, 6-year-old PitBull/American Staffordshire Terrier mix who is very sweet. Her short black coat is accented with white patches, and her ears stand up like Anubis!

*** PITBULL EXPERIENCE REQUIRED***

Maia is gentle, loving, smart, and cuddly! She is timid with new people but warms up quickly with calm movements and praise. She enjoys walks, yard play, fetch, tug, and is doggy door trained. She loaded up nicely in the van and rode well. Maia is also treat motivated, loves fruit, people are her passion, and she picks up on people needing comfort. She is a great companion and family dog. Maia will need continued training with basic commands, and leash manners. Maia is very strong, and a very active family would be her best fit

Children in the home should be 10+, kind and dog savvy. Maia has not lived successfully with other dogs, and she is not a fan of cats. She would like to be the Queen of her castle. Having a family member at home most of the time would be ideal for her. A secure fenced yard is required to keep her safe and happy, as she has been known to escape from an unsecured and unsupervised yard.

If you have any other questions, email is the best method of communication. We are 100% volunteer-run and operated and are open by appointment only. LEXI Dog of the Week!!

Meet LEXI! She is a 76 #, 5-year-old German Shepherd Dog mix who is very sweet and active. Her short tan coat is accented with her black muzzle that makes her look like Marmaduke!

***GSD EXPERIENCE REQUIRED. LEXI HAS AN OLD RIGHT HOCK BONE INJURY, AND FAVORS IT FROM TIME TO TIME. SHE IS ON GABAPENTIN AND CARPROFEN DAILY***

Lexi is gentle, loving, smart, and cuddly! She is an active strong girl who enjoys walks, yard play, fetch, tug, carrying sticks, and is crate trained. Lexi has never shown any signs of separation anxiety. She loaded up nicely in the van, and rode well. Lexi is also treat motivated, and people are her passion. She is a great companion and family dog. Lexi is great on a leash, and knows her basic commands.

Lexi does well with children 13+ who are kind and dog savvy. Other dogs her size or larger are fine with proper introduction, however no small dogs. She has successfully lived with dog savvy cats. Small animals like rabbits and squirrels were made for chasing, so no small critters please.

A secure fenced yard is required to keep her safe and happy, as she has been know to escape from an unsecured yard by jumping or digging. We have found in our facility Lexi does not want to do either if she has people with her. She loves people.

Meet TUGBOAT! (Formally Louise) Tug is a 75 #, 9-year-old (DOB 08/31/2014), German Shepherd Dog/Chocolate Lab mixed girl who is most devoted to her people! Her beautiful Tri-brown coat is movie star perfect!

***GSD EXPERIENCE REQUIRED. COUNTRY HOME ONLY. TUG'S DIET IS WELLNESS DEBONED CHICKEN & OATMEAL. DAILY SHE IS ON FORTA FLORA PROBIOTIC AND FLUEXOTINE MEDICATION***

Tug is an amazing dog who is very particular about her environment. She is looking for a calm, country lifestyle where it is quiet and peaceful. She would do best in an all-adult home, where she can be the Queen Bee only pet. Due to her level of anxiety on walks, it would be best for her to have a secure fenced yard where she can roam and relax at her leisure. Attached are notes from her Owner/Foster which describes her best.

***NOTES FROM OWNER/FOSTER***

Tugboat! Tug is a beloved member of the family.

She is cuddly and devoted and likes nothing better than to snuggle on the couch. She loves everyone in the family and all visitors invited into the home. She will lean on you and accept endless amount of petting. She can get excited and occasionally jumps on people when they come home, but will back off with a firm no. She likes learning tricks and knows sit, down, spin, under and shake. Her favorite toys tend to be chew toys, but she is quite possessive of them with other animals, and somewhat with people, so we only give her Kongs or other treat dispensing toys when she is crated or in her own space. She accepts being crated without complaint.

She has a favorite joke. Even when she is very anxious to go outside to potty, she will quickly roll over and wag her tail happily and get a belly rub before leaving. She is very reliably house trained. She likes to sleep by the side of the bed at night and immediately went and got up on the couch when she came home for the first time. She has not been allowed on the bed due to her possessive tendencies.

She is anxious about going outside and scans the street for problems when she leaves the front door. She is very strong, and we walk her with a harness. She dislikes delivery trucks and motorcycles and barks very loudly and angry at delivery people and the mail truck. She is not particularly bothered by garbage trucks. She gets very agitated on seeing dogs, cats, rabbits, even if they are far away when she senses them. She will rear up on her back legs and pull and moan. This behavior started two months after we got her when she felt at home with us. She does not act this way when boarded but would get upset at the pet store on seeing other dogs.

She has always been very nice to kids at our house and gets belly rubs and is very affectionate. However, she is so anxious outside that she probably can’t be trusted not to be scary if she gets angry. Many kids have petted her outside over the years, but she usually ignores people outside.

She lives with a cat or two at any given time but has not bonded to them and will growl if they are in her space. She gets along okay with our rough collie but does not seek him out. The cats were in the home first, and we got the collie as a puppy so that Tug could get used to him. We use a lot of gates for management.

Tug is not afraid of loud sounds and does not have separation anxiety and rests politely till you come home. She is not destructive. We have not taken her swimming,

She likes all fruits and vegetables as treats and likes cheese as a special treat and easily takes medications from pill pockets. She eats very fast!

Tug is the perfect dog indoors. I wish it had been safe to keep her in our neighborhood and my heart is broken.

Secure fenced yard is required to keep her safe and happy.
