Our facility is on an "Appointment Only Basis" during this time. Please check out our Website for how to make an appointment. We veterinarian-test, immunize, and alter hundreds of cats and kittens each year. We are registered as a non-profit charity and your donations are considered tax-deductible under IRS regulations.

Big Holiday Garage Sale, Saturday, November 2nd! 8am to 5pm
Come get in the holiday spirit with lots of Christmas deco and gift items while supporting the kitties of the rescue. We have loads of craft items, yarn, beautiful chrystal and china, heavy winter clothing and blankets, lamps, hand tools, Stihl chainsaws, workshop dust collector, camo clothing, FireKing dishes and sooo much more!

Is there anyone in the community that would happen to have some infrared goggles or something similar that would be willing to help locate a cat that is hiding in a home? She is new to the house and needs her thyroid medication but her new people can not find her.

Unfortunately these two cats were left at the bottom of our driveway near the road. We are unsure how to impress upon the community how dangerous this is to the cats and also when we say that we do not have space, we are not lying. Due to the long wait list of cats and kittens already waiting to come in and the several abandonments on the property we are temporarily closing the shelter to any surrenders. We need some time to catch up and catch our breath. We can understand that everyone needs help but abandonment is not the answer. We are still here for adoptions, spay neuter resources and other services. But please, please, if you know of anyone who has or is considering leaving cats anywhere without permission, please ask them to wait. Most shelters can help with resources to tide you over until intakes are possible.

3 little kittens were left at our front door this evening. These kittens have severe diarrhea and we need to get momma treated for internal parasites and spayed! If anyone has any information on who left these kittens please reach out. They were clearly in someone's home as they are clean and friendly. We need to help their mom!

Kitten Rescue of Mason County has come a critical impasse. We have had to suspended the Trap, Neuter and Release program due to equipment loss. This program is vital to our community.
If you currently are using our traps, please send email to
[email protected] and let us know how many traps you have in use.
If you have traps in your possession and are NOT USING them, PLEASE return them to the shelter so we can continue this vital program.

Important information regarding injured and critically ill animals. It may not be widely known, but Kitten Rescue is NOT a medical facility. We do not have a Dr. here on staff. For the safety and comfort of any injured or critically ill animal, the best thing to is to take the suffering cat to your vet or an emergency vet clinic. We have a list of emergency clinics on our website and there are agencies like Concern for Animals that can help with vet cost. These are the cats and kittens you can meet tomorrow at Warrior Life Martial Arts - Gig Harbor Ashley, Harmony, Splish and Splash can be adopted as singles and the rest of the kittens are bonded and will be adopted as pairs. Kitten rescue's first ever pop-up adoption event is coming to Gig Harbor August 11th! We Will have adoption applications and conduct adoption interviews on site with kittens and cats that will be ready to go home that day. All of our cats and kittens are spayed, neutered, vaccinated, microchipped. Adoption fees for adults are $50, singular kittens are $140, and a pair of kittens will be on special for $150. If you come ready to adopt, please bring a hard case Pet carrier and cash or check for the adoption fee. We will send home a sample of the food that they are eating and vaccine records. Of course, if you would like to adopt before that day, please visit our website to see available cats and kittens.

Guys, we have spayed and neutered over thirty cats and kittens in just the last two weeks alone! All of them are now waiting, waiting for their forever homes! Please visit our website to see all the available cats and kittens and to get more information on adoption. Remember all of our felines come spayed, neutered, vaccinated and microchipped!

We are seeing so many posts here on Facebook with people who have free kittens. We need to do a better job of pulling together as a community and utilizing the spay neuter resources available through all of the rescue organizations here in Mason County for getting our cats and kittens spayed! If you currently have a mother cat with nursing kittens, please make an appointment now to get her spayed. If you have recently adopted a kitten that is not currently spayed or neutered, please make your vet appointments now. Even though they may not be old enough. Vets are booking out weeks to months at a time for appointments. You can also find spay and neuter resources on our website that will help with transportation and cost! I would love to see a huge decline in the number of posts with free kittens next season. Let's work together to ease the burden on our local shelters and make our pets healthier and happier!

It's important that it's not full size as space is at a premium in the office. Hoping someone has a slender working refrigerator that they're not using and would be willing to donate. These little baby possums were rescued by the director of Kitten Rescue. The mother was killed in the road by Kneeland Park. The Director scooped them up, took them to the rescue and got them warmed up. We were able to drive them to Bainbridge Island, a huge thank you Hazel for transport and to West Sound Wildlife Shelter They accepted them and they're warm and safe! " It's not enough to love animals. We must actively protect and preserve them. It's our duty and responsibility as custodians of this planet" - Daphne Sheldrick

Have some time and a spare room? You too can be a foster. This little foster kitten came into the shelter when she was just days old. She almost big enough now to be altered and adopted. Though she will most likely always be a baby at heart 😺

Ghost

You won’t need to call ghostbusters on this one 🚫 Our featured cat this week is our sweet Ghost! He’s quite recognizable with his spotted nose. Ghost frequently sleeps under his bed, but has become really comfortable at the shelter. He is now a lap cat and is always down for some good chin scratches! Ghost will do better in a quieter space without small children. He’ll need a little time to get acclimated to his new space, but will make a great loving addition to your home! Rudy and Ricky are available for adoption. Rudy does have a scar on his eye but does not affect him in any way. These boys are so sweet and so playful and so ready for their new home!

Rowdy and Randy have been at the shelter for some time. They are both playful and affectionate! Let's get these boys adopted!

These two older kittens have been waiting so long for their forever home. They are a crazy pair! Super curious, super smart! They will need a home that is prepared for their energy. They have become very affectionate in the time that I have had them. They need to be adopted together as they are very bonded. Perfect for a home with older kids.
